Godzilla Now Gaurds Toho's Main Gate

If you think it's hard to get past the security guard at Toho's main gate, try getting past Godzilla!

In August of this year Toho studios completed a major face-lift of it's main entrance. On the left side of the main gate, is a giant mural depicting a scene from Akira Kurosawa's classic film "Seven Samurai", and on the right side stands a six foot bronze statue of the "King of Monsters" himself, Godzilla.

The "Seven Samurai" mural, which adorns the north wall to the left of the main gate, is a whopping 12.4 x 26.6 meter "steel shot motif" that has a genuine photo-like quality. Murals of this type have been recently used in the Restoration of a church in Italy and at Tokyo Disney. Presently this is the largest mural in Japan.

The Godzilla statue that now graces the south side of the main gate (right), stands two meters high and is made entirely of bronze. The statue was created to resemble how the monster looked in the 1991 film "Godzilla vs King Ghidorah."

Toho will continue with their studio upgrade over the next year, with Stages 3 & 4 set to be completely retrofitted by the end of the 2007.
