Is Gremlins 3 Coming....In 3D?

Last July there were a lot of rumors floating around about a third "Gremlins" movie. At that time there were two camps. On one hand you had the director of the original, Joe Dante, saying that he had heard about the film being made, then you had "Gremlins" creator, Chris Columbus, saying that he didn't know anything about it.

Nothing was ever confirmed, and those rumors disappeared quickly.

Now, unnamed sources are once again preaching to the choir about a third "Gremlins" movie, this time in 3D. Reportedly, the film is already in early development.

Let's be honest, there are a lot of factors out there that would make you believe that a film like this is undoubtedly on someones desk in Hollywood.

One, restarting movie franchises from the 80s and 90s is all the rage these days with "Alien", "Predator" and "Ghostbusters", all getting reboots.

"Gremlins" certainly fits into the mix.

And as far as 3D is concerned.....well, unless your in a coma or just plain dense, you know that James Cameron's "Avatar" (a 3D movie) is poised to make the most money in cinema history.

Unfortunately, thanks to the ultra-success of Cameron's sci fi epic, I have a feeling that just about every upcoming film project will have "3D" attached to it.

Thar could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it.

"Gremlins"......3D? Sounds like a lock, though there hasn't been any 'official' news yet. I won't be surprised to find out that it is already well into production.

Just makes sense in a Hollywood sort of way.

  1. Godzilla? Jurassic park 4? Alien prequel? Predator sequel? and now Gremlins? haha.. Sound's damn good to me.

I wont complain i enjoy all these franchise's. Personally i hope they Reboot Alien vs Predator, I wouldnt mind seeing it put to it's full potential.

What else could possibly comeback from the dead? Maybe Jaws 5? LOL.. Gotta admitt id still pay to see it.

Anyways i love Gremlins and Gremlins 2, So i would be happy as hell to see a third put onto the big screen again.
