Wonder Woman Don't Need No Stunt Woman!

Image
In the episode "Anschluss 77" (episode 2.2) the script called for Wonder Woman to grab on to a bar under a helicopter and hold on to it as the helicopter lifted 50 feet into the air. Actress Lynda Carter's stunt double shot the scene but as the camera was so close to the stand-in it became obvious that it wasn't Lynda. As the production crew was beginning to lose their lighting, Lynda felt she could perform the stunt on her own and told her stunt double to let her go instead. She filmed the scene herself, which angered the unaware producers of the series as Carter not only didn't inform anyone ahead of time, but did not use protective wrist guards what could have held her to the helicopter should she not have the strength to hold on. When the son of Wonder Woman stunt double Jeannie Epper told his classmates that his mother performed on the Wonder Woman television series they did not believe him, even after showing them a photo of his mother in costume. When

Holy Premature Demolition Batman!

After ABC canceled the original Batman TV series (1966 - 1968) which starred Adam West (Batman) and Burt Ward (Robin), the producers waited to see if anyone else would pick it up, then bulldozed the Batcave set when it appeared nobody would. Two weeks later, NBC offered to pick it up, unaware that the set had already been dismantled; unwilling to invest in the high cost of rebuilding the entire set, NBC ultimately declined to acquire the series. Most movie fans a more than familiar with Mel Brook's 1974 comedy/western ' Blazing Saddles ' which starred Gene Wilder and Cleavon Little as Bart the first black sheriff of the redneck town of Rock Ridge. Though the rest of the cast was filled by Hollywood icons such as Madeline Kahn and Slim Pickens there were two exceptions, one being ex Detroit Lions tackle Alex Karras as Mongo and adult magazine model Robyn Hilton as the busty secretary of the wacky Governor William J. Lepetomane (played by Brooks himself). Though movie fans have enjoyed gawking at Hilton and her now infamous cleavage for decades many have never inquired as to just who she is. That is until now. Here is Robyn Hilton's bio from IMDB: Born in 1940, Robyn Hilton entered acting late in life. She spent much of her early 20s attempting to start a professional modeling career. However, she soon realized that her breasts were her best feature. She began posing topless under several aliases, for

... So The Alien Wore Trousers

Image
In a magazine article the special effects department at Universal admitted that the "mutant" costume from the 1955 film 'This Island Earth' originally had legs that matched the upper body but they had so much trouble making the legs look and work properly they were forced by studio deadline to simply have the mutant wear a pair of trousers. Posters made to promote the movie show the mutant as it was originally supposed to appear.

"Rednecks, crackers, hillbillies, hausfraus, shut-ins, pea-pickers - everybody that's got to jump when somebody else blows the whistle. They don't know it yet, but they're all gonna be 'Fighters for Fuller'. They're mine! I own 'em! They think like I do. Only they're even more stupid than I am, so I gotta think for 'em. Marcia, you just wait and see. I'm gonna be the power behind the president - and you'll be the power behind me!" - Lonesome Rhodes (Andy Griffith)(A Face In The Crowd)(1957)

The Smithsonian Wonders: What Kind of Dinosaur is Godzilla?

Image
Hey Don't Laugh This Is Science! Source: Smithsonian.com Godzilla certainly puts the “fiction” in sci-fi. When you’re dealing with an amphibious dinosaur the size of a mountain that is effectively a biological nuclear reactor, it’s advisable to leave the monster as a symbol of wanton atomic destruction and not worry too much about scientific accuracy. But with the upcoming American reboot of the long-running franchise, I couldn’t help but wonder about the one aspect of Godzilla where paleontology might have something to contribute–just what sort of dinosaur Godzilla is. Everyone knows that Godzilla is a mutated something-o-saurus. Just what sort of creature the aberration started out as varies from one canonical storyline to another. During the 1990s run of the Godzilla series, for example, the movie Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah showed that Godzilla mutated from a late-surviving theropod dinosaur. The carnivore looked like the old, dumpy restorations of Tyrannosaurus from the

And, here's a special news bulletin. Godzilla is now in New York City. The city is being invaded by Godzilla!" It looks like the world is in trouble once again folks as yet another alien race, this time it's those wacky living rocks known as the Kilaaks, have come to Earth to enslave us, steal our women or drink up all our precious water. Though they may speak softly and fly around in fancy spaceships these Kilaaks are truly bad to the bone and have taken control of all of our monsters and set them loose to ravage the globe. Of course in the end a group of hot shot rocket jocks and top scientists figure out how the silver hoodied aliens control the monsters and set Godzilla and his pals free beat the crap out of them. Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo 2012 Report

Image
by Armand Vaquer Above, it was nice to see Wonder Woman (Kit Quinn) was able to attend Comikaze Expo.  Photo by Armand Vaquer. Comikaze Expo was one big impressive show!  I mean, it was HUGE! I just returned home from Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center where I participated in a panel on Japanese giant monsters and robots.  The panel also focused on Legendary Pictures' Pacific Rim (scheduled to hit theaters next July) and Godzilla (scheduled to hit theaters on May 16, 2014). We had a full house in the room where the panel was held. Above, Tom Franck, Jessica Tseang and Armand before the panel discussion started. I thoroughly enjoyed the discussion.  It was probably one of the most enjoyable panels I've served on.  It was moderated by Jessica Tseang and, besides myself, included Tom Franck, who has the largest Japanese robot collection in the United States. Above, the legendary Batman, Deadman and Green Lantern/Green Arrow
