"Gorgo" Coming To Blu-ray, VCI Says

Image
by Armand Vaquer A friend checked with VCI Entertainment and was told that the Blu-ray edition of Gorgo is slated to be released on March 19. It is my understanding that the Blu-ray will be made from a new HD 1080P transfer from either the 35mm negative, or master positive.  If so, then this is great news! Updated By Ken Hulsey   A volcanic eruption in the North Atlantic brings to the surface a 65-foot prehistoric monster. Two treasure divers capture the creature and take him to London where he made the star attraction at a circus. A scientist is thoughtful enough to point out that the sailors bonanza is only an infant, and that a full-grown specimen would be over 200 feet in height. Sure enough, Gorgo s mama comes thundering ashore, reclaims her offspring and heads back to sea but not before, she trashes a generous portion of London. Bonus Features: "Ninth Wonder Of The World: The Making Of Gorgo" a new documentary by Daniel Griffith | Gorgo - Video Comic Book and

Planet of the Apes Behind the Scenes Photos and Trivia

Image
Planet of the Apes Trivia: Roddy McDowall, an experienced actor, recommended to his companions in makeup that they should frequently add tics, blinks and assorted facial gestures to add a sense of realism and keep the makeup from appearing "mask-like". McDowall reportedly became a merry prankster with the makeup, driving home with his make-up on, and shocking some of the other drivers on the freeway. McDowall also appeared on an episode of The Carol Burnett Show wearing his Planet of the Apes make-up. The look of fright on Carol Burnett's face was reputed to be genuine. During breaks in filming, actors made up as different ape species tended to hang out together, gorillas with gorillas, orangutans with orangutans, chimps with chimps. It wasn't required, it just naturally happened. All the Ape actors and extras were required to wear their masks even during breaks and in between shots because it took so much time to make them up. Because of this, meals were li

Sean Fernald: Vampirella Historian - Video

Image
Vampirella was originally presented as an inhabitant of the planet Drakulon, a world where a vampiric race lived on blood and where blood flowed in rivers. Draculon orbits twin suns that were causing droughts across the planet, marking certain doom for Vampirella and her race. The race of which Vampirella was born, the Vampiri, were able to transform themselves into bats at will, possessed superhuman physical attributes, sprout wings when required to fly, and drink blood. The story begins with the inhabitants of Drakulon dying slowly due to the drying up of its blood. The last few lie dying when a spaceship from Earth crashes on the planet. Vampirella, sent to investigate, is attacked; retaliating, she discovers that the astronauts have blood in their veins. In order for her race to survive, she manages to pilot the ship back to Earth where her adventures begin. Vampirella becomes a "good" vampire, and devotes her energy to ridding our world of the homegrown "evil

Casting "The Night Stalker"

Darren McGavin explains: "My representatives called to say that ABC had purchased the right to a book called The Kolchak Papers. They were into a kind of first draft of a script by Richard Matheson, and they called the agency to ask them if I’d be interested in doing it. My representative read it and called me." Listen," the agency representative said, "there’s this crazy story about a reporter and some kind of monster in Las Vegas. You don’t want to do this." "Well, send it over." Showing the script to his wife, Kathie Browne, she agreed with his assessment. "You’re right. It’s terrific," she said. With those two behind the project, the face, voice, mannerisms and clothing of Carl Kolchak took a major leap from the printed page to the small screen. "Well, when you’re working that fast in television, McGavin said, "you have to draw on yourself. You use who you are to a greater extent than you would in a play or a film.&qu

"Daisy Is In The Box" - Has Bigfoot Really Been Found?

Image
Written By: Ken Hulsey I was surprised to find a group of stories floating around the Internet that were filled with so much innuendo, speculation and cloak and dagger that it took weeding through several of them to put together a coherent chain of events. The bottom line, if you believe any of the banter, is that Bigfoot may have been finally captured. Let me try to piece this together for you. About a week ago a rather mysterious message ended up in the inbox of one Ed Smith who is a member of the Mid-America Bigfoot Research Center Forums. According to Smith he was once a member of a group called the "Quantra Team", who reportedly were the source of the message and the mystery that now surrounds it. Here is a copy of Smith's forum post: Understand that I am no longer a member of the Orig-6 in its new form. All of my access to the databases and communication nexus were removed. I thought. Today, I received a text from the “Flash List” routing server. The te

Naked lust that builds to a climax of death

The Big Doll House (1971) - Female prisoners in a Phillippine jail are being subjected to sadistic torture. Five of the women along with the help of two men plot an escape. Director Jack Hill named the sadistic prison warden "Dietrich" after German producer Erwin C. Dietrich, with whom Hill had had a very unpleasant experience after Dietrich hired him to shoot a film in Switzerland. In the sequence in which Judith Brown is tortured by having a snake dangled over her head, only a pane of glass separated Brown from said snake. A graphic lesbian scene was shot, but cut from the final finished version of the film. A Filipino porn actress was originally cast as Ferina, but left after the first day of shooting. Roberta Collins' infamous "Get it up or I'll cut it off" line was improvised on the spot by director Jack Hill. - IMDB Not to be confused with ...
