It seems there’s a slim chance that Darth Vader may return in the ‘Star Wars’ sequels… but will he really be played by Hayden Christensen?

According to Making Star Wars, the 34-year-old ‘Star Wars’ prequel actor might be picking up his old lightsaber in ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’.
“A team in the U.K. are soon heading to the U.S. to begin training Hayden Christensen for a Star Wars: Episode VIII appearance of some sort,” they revealed. But it comes with a word of warning: “This is a rumor I raise an eyebrow at incredulously.”
Of course, Hayden Christensen became famous for his rather wooden performance as Anakin Skywalker – the young Jedi who would eventually become Darth Vader.
Starring in both ‘Attack of the Clones’ and ‘Revenge of the Sith’, he gave a human face to one of the galaxy’s most-feared villains. And by the end of the prequel trilogy, he even got the chance to suit up in the classic helmet and cape, complete with dodgy-breathing.
But will Hayden Christensen really get the chance to return?
“I have a hard time thinking they would need Christensen to train for Star Wars if he’s simply a ghost,” they added. “He is still physically fit. To me the rumor almost points towards some resurrection of Darth Vader story idea or perhaps a flashback? It makes it all hard to imagine.”
I have to agree – it seems like an incredibly odd move to harken back to the prequel era when J.J. Abrams has spent the best part of several years attempting to recapture the magic of the original trilogy.
And let’s face it – Hayden Christensen wasn’t exactly beloved in the role.
