One of the most notorious villains from that galaxy far, far away is making a comeback next year with *Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord*, an exciting new animated series set after the events of the last season of *Star Wars: The Clone Wars*. Kicking off in March, Marvel Comics will launch *STAR WARS: SHADOW OF MAUL*, a five-issue prequel series created by the talented Benjamin Percy, who previously explored the dark side in *STAR WARS: DARTH MAUL – BLACK, WHITE & RED*. The artwork will be provided by Madibek Musabekov, known for his impressive contributions to the *STAR WARS: JEDI KNIGHTS* series.
In *Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord*, we’ll delve into Maul’s intricate strategies to rebuild his criminal empire on Janix, a planet untouched by the Empire. The *STAR WARS: SHADOW OF MAUL* comic series sets the stage for these new adventures, introducing characters like Captain Brander Lawson and his trusty droid partner, Two Boots, as they navigate the underbelly of Janix. Imagine Janix as a vibrant, neon-lit maze shrouded in shadows—a place where the law is merely a suggestion. Captain Lawson strives to maintain some semblance of order in this chaotic landscape while contending with cunning crime lords and the sinister presence of the Shadow Lord, Maul.
“I’ve always been a massive Star Wars fan,” Percy noted. “Working on *STAR WARS: DARTH MAUL – BLACK, WHITE & RED* was a fantastic experience, but those were just glimpses into the universe. With *SHADOW OF MAUL*, I get to tell a broader story about one of my favorite characters, exploring a new angle within the Star Wars canon.
