Now that Lawrance Kasdan has signed on to write the screenplay for "Robotech" things are starting to look like they may be going the right direction. That being said, fact may be that a good writer may not be enough to keep this baby from going the same route as "Transformers." I think we may need to call in some Divine help.
Everyone repeat this aloud:
"Oh, dear merciful God, please don't let Tobey Maguire screw up the "Robotech" movie the same way Michael Bay did "Transformers." Please grant him the wisdom and understanding to understand the phrase, "If it isn't broken, then you don't have to fix it." Please don't let the design team change the look of the Veritech fighters, like I saw a suggested in that awful message board post. (honestly wanted to make them look like F-16s) Please let the casting director choose a young Asian singer, who can act, for the part of Lynn Minmei and not some American pop star like Christine Aguilera or Beyonce. Give guidance to Lawrance Kasdan as he writes the screenplay, and let him know that the movie "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? " was a good film and that it would be something for him to build off of. Please guide the effects crew and help them to understand that CGI is great and all, but don't go crazy with it. I pray that you find it in your mercy to let "Robotech" be the kind of movie that all of the fans of the original series, and don't forget the Macross faithful, have been waiting decades to see."
Amen
