Source: Fangoria.comEver since I started building Japanese Sci Fi related websites way back in 2000, I have been receiving regular e-mails from fans asking, "Do you know where I can get my hands on a copy of War of the Gargantuas on DVD?" or "Do you know if War of the Gargantuas will be released here in America?". Likewise, whenever I went to an event or movie screening I would get hit with, "Is anyone ever going to release War of the Gargantuas on DVD?" I would generally have to stare at them blankly and utter "Um.....I don't know?" I would normally refer them to an importer where they could purchase a pricey Region 2 Japanese copy of the film that didn't come with any English subtitles.
I am finally happy to announce that "War of the Gargantuas" is finally getting a release here in America thanks to Classic Media. The film will be packaged, along with Rodan, in a special two DVD set that is scheduled to hit store shelves September 9th. Just like all of the prior kaiju related releases from Classic Media, both the Japanese and English-language versions of each movie will be included. There will also be a special 68-minute documentary entitled, "Bringing Godzilla Down To Size", directed by Norman England, written and produced by Ed Godziszewski and Steve Ryfle and narrated by Alex Cox, it features interviews with numerous actors and filmmakers associated with the Toho monster genre, including Akira Takarada, Hiroshi Koiumi, Shusuke Kaneko, Yoshio Tsuchiya, Shogo Tomiyama, Haruo Nakajima and many others.
There, now maybe you ravenous dogs can stop lighting up my e-mail!
