It's A 'Return to Yucca Flats: Desert Man-Beast' Video Cavalcade

It's been since way back in February that I had last gotten an update from David Hayes about his film "Return to Yucca Flats: Desert Man-Beast", a sequel to the 1961 cult movie classic, "The Beast of Yucca Flats".

As you probably don't remember, the plot of the original film centered around a crazed murderer, (played by B movie icon Tor Johnson) who wonders into a nuclear test site and gets a good old gigantic dose of gamma rays or strontium 90....whatever, and turns into a 'Kong' sized raging nut bag.

Well, Hayes has put his own spin on the sequel, and from the looks of it, it's about a big harry guy who terrorizes a bunch of mega-hot girls in bikinis. Yes, the director has improved on the original by leaps and bounds.

We were sent two new clips from the film at the end of last week. One basically shows the aforementioned harry guy dancing around in the desert. Now, I can tell you from living in the Mojave desert for the past five years, that this is not too uncommon a site. The heat can make people do bizarre things, especially if they've had a few too many cold ones.

The second features Dannish actor Kim Sonderholm in an intro clip to the film, where he warns the viewer that if they have a week heart or aversion to bad films, they should turn away and put on "Driving Miss Daisy." The clip is an obvious homage to the cheesy intros to classic 50s sci fi and the horror films of the 30s and 40s, where someone feels it necessary to 'warn' theater patrons that the movie they are about to see may scare them to the point that they may need medical attention.

I contacted Kim Sonderholm over the weekend in hopes of getting some inside scoops on the production. Mr. Sonderholm told me that the above clip was actually filmed at his own home, so he didn't have any 'dirt' on "Yucca Flats" that he could pass one.

Hayes is presently working on some 'fake' grindouse-like trailers for the film called "Camp KillNoMore" and "Love Tard".

If everything stays on schedule "Return to Yucca Flats: Desert Man-Beast" will be completed by the end of the month.
