Last Sunday, I was scrolling through the Facebook page for the Cruel World Festival that took place the day before at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. I was enjoying clips from some of my favorite bands like Garbage, The Go-Go's, Alison Moyet, OMD, and one of my ultimate favorites, New Order.
Included in that set of clips was a little something from a band called Social Order that I had never heard of before. I played the clip and instantly fell in love with what I heard. The next day, I logged into Spotify and started playing one track after another. I loved the songs so much that I quickly assembled a Social Order playlist, and I have been playing those songs over and over ever since.

Social Order has a sound that feels like it has one foot firmly planted in modern alternative, while the other foot is firmly grounded in the post-punk era of the 80s that featured bands like The Smiths and The Cure. In fact, you could say that Social Order is ripping off some of The Cure's best riffs on the bulk of the songs on their latest album entitled "Miss You" which features one of the best cover photos that I have seen in some time.I've been playing the title track from that album over and over like I was 15 again and had just bought the latest Depeche Mode single at Tower Records. It's my latest music obsession for sure. Social Order is a darkwave/post-punk band from Las Vegas, Nevada, composed of Mason Musso (vocalist/guitarist), Matthew Di Panni (bassist), Anthony Improgo (drummer), and Andrew Ward (guitarist/keyboardist). They formed in 2020 and have released several singles and an EP, including "Miss You," "Hollow," "Waiting," and "Lights Off."
