Scarlet Salem Is A Graveyard Cowgirl

I know that I promised a 'weekly' posting of the horror themed photographs of actress/model Scarlet Salem taken by photographer H Morgen. Well, I have had a lot on my plate the last two weeks, so I missed a post. Sorry about that.

Every time I do one of these, I sing the praises of both Morgen and Salem, and I'm sure that you have had enough of that, so I'm skipping that part.

As you probably already know, over the past month, in celebration of Halloween, I have featured the duo's horror tributes featuring Scarlet as Vampira, the horror hostess and star of "Plan 9 From Outer Space" and as Janet Leigh in a recreation of the infamous 'shower scene' from Alfred Hitchcock's classic film, "Psycho".

Today I have a set of pics featuring Scarlet in a cowboy hat and a bikini top. This time around the photos are a tribute to scream queen Sherri Moon.

Moon, as you may know, is Rob Zombies main squeeze and the star of most of his films.

Hey, it may not be from a classic horror film, but do you care? It's Scarlet Salem in a cowboy hat and bikini top!

Scarlet Salem & H Morgen Go Psycho

Before I get into talking about these brand-new photos of Scarlet Salem, I want to make a public apology.

I am always drilling my teenage son to pull his head out of the clouds and "pay attention" to what he is doing. Well, it seems that his old man (me) should be following his own advice.

It came to my attention earlier this week that in, oh, about ten or so articles, I had been miss-spelling the name of photographer, H Morgen as 'H Morgan'. To make this even more embarrassing for yours truly, it was Morgen herself that spotted my long-running typo.

I have since grovelled on hands and knees to beg her forgiveness, which she gave, and in the end we both had a good laugh over the whole thing.

But, I did want to make a public apology......so......I'm sorry.......my bad.

Okay, that know out of the way, we can move on to the point at hand, a great new set of Scarlet Salem photos, by photographer H Morgen (not Morgan). These are part of a new series of 'tribute' pics that the duo have been working on.

Last week I posted the set featuring Scarlet as Vampira, the horror hostess and star of "Plan 9 From Outer Space". This week I have for you some great pics of Miss Salem doing her best Janet Leigh impression in series of shots the recreate the infamous 'shower scene' from Alfred Hitchcock's classic film, "Psycho".

I know that all you really got out of what I just wrote were the words 'Scarlet Salem' and 'shower'.

Just try to keep your mind focused on the artistic qualities of these shots. They really are a great tribute to on of the greatest scenes in movie history.

Kudos to H Morgen and Scarlet Salem for capturing the true essence of Hitchcock.

Scarlet Salem In A Haunting Tribute To Vampira

If you have been visiting Monster Island News for any period of time, you have likely heard me rave on-and-on about the wonderful horror photography being produced by artist H Morgen featuring the lovely actress and model, Scarlet Salem.

Well, over the past few weeks the duo have really outdone themselves with several series of shots the fit right into the Halloween season.

Today I want to focus on a set of photographs that are a tribute to Vampira, the Los Angeles horror hostess that was also the star of Ed Wood's ultimate camp classic "Plan 9 From Outer Space."

Now, it only seems fitting that Morgen And Salem chose Vampira as the theme for this set of pics, due mostly to the fact that this year is the 50th anniversary of "Plan 9" and that there are two remakes of the film in production.

For those of you who don't know, Vampira was played by Finnish actress Maila Nurmi, who first invented the character in 1953 as a costume for choreographer Lester Horton's annual Bal Caribe Masquerade, a Halloween ball for Hollywood "B" movie stars. Nurmi modeled the outfit after Morticia Addams from Charles Addams comic strip, "The Addams Family". The costume caught the attention of KABC-TV producer Hunt Stromberg, who went through a great deal to hire her to host his late-night horror movie program, later called "The Vampira Show".

I kinda have a confession to make. When I was a teen, I had the biggest crush on Morticia Addams, played by the wonderful actress Carolyn Jones, so for reasons that should be obvious to you, I have a real love for these photographs.

That, of course, takes nothing away from the wonderful work of Photographer H Morgen and the stunning Scarlet Salem.
