A couple of months back It was announced that Christopher Kahler was making a 50th anniversary tribute to Ed Wood's "Plan 9 From Outer Space" entitled, "Grave Robbers From Outer Space."
Kahler intends to expand on the story from the original by adding a back story for the Bela (Lugosi) and Vampira characters, called Phineas and Mera in the new film, plus other plot points that Wood was unable to.
Kahler tells us that he has already begun filming his movie, "...some 3 scenes requiring heavy fx have already been completed, and lots of other video fx shots have been getting tested out for the final movie."
The director also hopes that a special online auction will help with the expenses, "We are also stepping into auction territory to help offset production costs throughout the summer by placing the sole Executive Producer title up for grabs on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180358896633&viewitem=&salenotsupported). "
"This will helpfully cover a portion of flights, hotels, etc while getting the bulk of the movie shot in late June."
Today we also have more casting news:
The very buxom Michelle Shields has been cast as Officer Jamie, a part originally played by Conrad Brooks in "Plan 9."
Also B movie icon Joel D. Wynkoop has been cast as Eros the alien commander.
