You Know Your Famous When You Get Interviewed By Kermit The Frog

There are several milestones that an actor or actress can achieve in their career. These can range from simply being cast in a local play to landing a part in a big time Hollywood movie. Some of the very fortunate may even bring home a coveted Oscar for a amazing performance in a timeless role.

However, I ask you, how do you know when you have finally made it? I mean really reached the pinnacle of acting?

The answer is simple. You find yourself being interviewed on the red carpet at a movie premiere by Kermit the Frog.

I found an interesting email in my In Box this morning from Disney hyping the fact that Kermit was on hand at the premiere of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" interviewing celebrities.

I found this odd that with all the stars on hand for such a gala event that Kermit was the one being listed in my email?

That was until I learned that there was a new Muppet movie coming out in November and that it was to do some covert publicity for that film.

The Mouse is a sly one.

Today Walt Disney Studios has released the first ever images from "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." These pics show Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, and the fetching Penelope Cruz as Angelica, in the usual kind of hi jinks that we have come to expect from the "Pirates" movie series. There's Jack taking a ride on the back of a carriage , in some sort of a chase scene no doubt, Jack pushing a boat into the water, Jack and Angelica confronting Blackbeard, Jack and Angelica waste-deep in the swamp, Jack hiding and Jack being hauled away by guards.

A typical day in the life of one Jack Sparrow.

Cornwall To Stand In For The Caribbean For 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'

It looks as if the fourth film in Disney's "Pirates" series is going to be very different than the prior three. A lot of things from the other films will be missing, like actors Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly, but surprisingly, in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", the Caribbean will be missing also.

It seems that the film makers, lead by director Rob Marshall, have chosen Cornwall, England, as their primary shooting location.

That is a far less exotic location than the first three films used. All of them were actually shot in the Caribbean and on the California coast.

One thing that will not be missing is Johnny Depp, who will once again be donning the dreads and gold teeth as Captain Jack Sparrow, reportedly alongside a new leading lady in Penelope Cruz.

Though this new "Pirates" movie will be shot off the coast of Cornwall, the film is still set to take place in sunnier climates, like its namesake local and Florida.

The plot for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" will be based on author Tim Powers 1987 novel, "On Stranger Tides". It can only be assumed that Powers main character, Jack 'Shandy' Chandagnac, will be replaced by Captain Jack Sparrow, who, if the film follows the books plot, will become a reluctant member of the infamous buccaneer Blackbeard's crew, who is on a quest for the fountain of youth.

Cornwall is just like the Caribbean......isn't it?

Author Tim Powers is more than happy to tell everybody what to expect in the fourth "Pirates Of The Caribbean" movie, because it will be based on his 1987 novel "On Stranger Tides". Well, he can tell everybody, now, because the bosses at Disney, have given him the okay.

In actuality, Disney optioned the rights to Powers book quite some time back, and gave the author strict orders to keep his mouth shut about it, or they would send Mickey's goons out to work him over.

Okay, I made that last bit up.

But, they did instruct the author to not tell anybody about the deal, until after the new "Pirates" film was announced last month at the D23 Expo in Anaheim. Reportedly last week Powers agent was contacted by Disney giving the green light.

So what can we expect to see in "Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" (tentative title)?

The story from the novel follows the exploits of puppeteer's son Jack 'Shandy' Chandagnac, who sets sail for Jamaica to seek out an uncle who stole his family fortune and gets captured by pirates and becomes a reluctant member of infamous buccaneer Blackbeard's crew.

In an interesting twist, Blackbeard has given up looting ships to search for the fountain of youth.

Sounds like the good back story for a new "Pirates" movie, don't ya think?

Hopefully Mickey's goons won't be paying me a visit for that earlier crack.........or this one.
