Marvel Comics president Kevin Feige is really jonesing to get some of his heroes in a scrap on the big screen. His first idea is to make The Hulk the villain in a proposed film based on the superhero group, "The Avengers."
Feige recently told MTV, "Here's the thing - it is all in the planning stages, but certainly if you look back to any number of Hulk comics, or Avengers comics, or The Ultimates comics or the Ultimate Avengers DVD that we released, it certainly makes a hell of a sequence. To have all of the Avengers going up against a green goliath? I think that would be very cool to see that on the screen."
I find it interesting that Feige managed to forget to mention that The Hulk was actually one of the original members of The Avengers.
To be honest if he really wanted to do a battle with The Hulk then he would have a choice of several epic battles versus Marvel characters to choose from. All of them more epic than any fight with The Avengers. Both Spider Man and the Fantastic Four come to mind. In fact a meeting between The Hulk and The Four would bring an epic battle versus The Thing, and those have been some of the most memorable in comics history.
Maybe Feige needs to rethink his fight card?
History:
The Avengers is a team of fictional superhero characters in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Originally created using preexisting Marvel characters, variously created by writer-editor Stan Lee, artist and co-plotter Jack Kirby and others, the team first appeared in The Avengers #1 (Sept. 1963).
Labeled "Earth's Mightiest Heroes", the Avengers originally consisted of Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk. Almost from inception, however, the roster has been fluid: The Hulk departs; Captain America joins and soon afterwards leads a whole new team. The rotating roster has become a hallmark of the team, although one theme remains consistent: the Avengers fight the foes no single superhero can withstand — hence their battle cry, "Avengers Assemble!" The team has featured humans, robots, gods, aliens, supernatural beings, and even former villains.
the current movie hulk and thing would really be a mismatch. the movie thing is too weak to even remotely have a chance of beating the hulk. Thor would probably be a better match as we have yet to see him and how powerful he is going to be in the movie.
ReplyDeleteIndeed...you do have a point. The new movie version of The Hulk would be a bit much for The Thing to take on. Pitty though, if you are an old comic book geek like me, then you harken back to the early Fantastic Four issues (starting with #12....I have it in my collection) when the two used to battle it out.
ReplyDeleteYou don't suppose that they could tame The Hulk down a little.......I didn't think so.
I have been saying for some time that a set of Marvel "team-up" movies would be awsome! Could you see the Fantastic Four teaming with Spider Man to fight some Villains. Or maybe a X-men - Avengers movie...the possibilities are endless.
Of course I would go with the old Avengers, Spider Man, Fantastic Four, and Sheild vs Godzilla film.
Oh lets not forget to mention the great Iron Man vs The Hulk comics.....I can see that matchup already on someones desk.....perhaps.
Wait! How do you know how strong the movie Thing is? Did I miss a scene where we saw a limit to his strength?
