Photos and Story by Ken Hulsey
We are well into 2026, and I’ve promised myself to do a better job of sharing my railroad photos. Although I didn’t take many pictures in January, I really like the ones I did capture. These photos were taken in my usual spots, including Leesville, Bunkie, and Baton Rouge in Louisiana, as well as Ashdown and DeQueen in Arkansas.
I particularly enjoy the image above; it looks like a locomotive in action, but it is actually sitting idle, waiting for service at the DeQueen and Eastern Railroad shops in DeQueen, Arkansas. Additionally, there are shots of switching operations at the CPKC yard in Leesville, Louisiana, as well as some Canadian National units waiting to be called into action in Baton Rouge.
While the variety of shots is limited, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
