With the sudden passing of writer Michael Crichton, producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy are debating whether to proceed forward with a fourth "Jurassic Park" after all.
Recently Comingsoon.net cornered the pair and asked them if there had been any new developments with the film and they seemed to have mixed emotions about the project. Kennedy explains, "No... I don't know. You know, when Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that's it. Maybe that's a sign that we don't mess with it."
Now, that's not a definite nail in the coffin for a project that has been in some sort of development for six years, and was originally scheduled to be released this past Summer.
The last time we heard about the film, and that was in August of 2007, Laura Dern was to be reprising her role as Ellie Sattler. Dern was quoted at the time as saying, "I’m told its happening and I’m told they’re calling me. I’m told that Ellie Sattler is involved in it. Well a certain fellow is the one that called me and it’s hard to say no to him cause he’s always got something totally genius up his sleeve so we’ll see what they have in mind. But I don’t know anything about it at this point."
Along with Dern's "I'm being told, I'm in it" remarks came some bizarre-ass plot rumors:
Rumor numero uno had the films story revolving around the United States government fitting dinosaurs with mounted weapons to use against drug runners in South America.
Rumor two, which came from writer John Sayles, alleged that the story for Jurassic Park Four revolved around a group of soldiers that were human-dinosaur hybrids.
Hopefully, if the production does continue forward, they will choose a better plot than one of those two.
Right know the whole project seems to be in limbo again. At this rate I will be able to take my Grandchildren to see it.......
