40TH ANNIVERSARY FILM SCREENING OF THE GREEN SLIME WITH STARS ROBERT HORTON AND LUCIANA PALUZZI TAKES PLACE AT THE LOS ANGELES COMIC BOOK AND SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2009
The LOS ANGELES COMIC BOOK AND SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION spotlights a 40th Anniversary Film Screening of THE GREEN SLIME on Sunday, November 8, 2009. Attending will be stars ROBERT HORTON and LUCIANA PALUZZI, reunited for the first time since the release of THE GREEN SLIME, for an on stage interview on the making of the Movie.
THE GREEN SLIME is considered a Science Fiction cult classic for its low budget Special Effects, wacky theme song, and very splashy Movie Poster Art. A Space Station is invaded by tentacled green alien creatures that multiply when hit with laser guns. This leads to the grand Outer Space battle with the crew suiting up with flying jet packs to destroy THE GREEN SLIME by blowing up the Space Station. THE GREEN SLIME was heavily marketed at the time of its 1969 release, appearing on magazine covers such as Famous Monsters of Filmland#57.
THE GREEN SLIME was directed by Kinji Fukasaku, who went on to critical acclaim for another cult Film, Battle Royale. Bill Finger, one of the three Screenwriters for THE GREEN SLIME, worked with Bob Kane in 1939 on the creation of Batman, as well as writing the first BATMAN story in Detective Comics#27, his landmark first appearance.
