Team Chow Fa will debut its latest movie, Fallen City, on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at ShowPlace ICON Theatre at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $8.50 each and can be purchased at www.teamchowfa.com. Red carpet begins at 6:30 pm with a meet and greet at the second floor lounge after the film.
The lives of Yashoua (Saikong Yang) and his fiancée Elly (Kachyia Vang) are torn apart when they unexpectedly cross paths with the city’s drug lord, Gorilla (Sloane Vue). However, Yashoua’s death is artificial and he awakes with no recollection of his past life. Struggling to regain his memory, he reluctantly develops a friendship with Tea (Diana Xiong). Yashoua is pitted against the same evil that had taken his life before while trying to piece together his past and save the life of a woman that he loves.
Local Hmong filmmaker, Kang Vang, returns to the screen with his fourth feature length film. Unlike his previous projects, Fallen City will be his first English-speaking film. Kang is one of the co-founders of Team Chow Fa Productions. Team Chow Fa formed in 2005 when it produced a short movie, Into the Dark, for the Minneapolis 48 Hour Film Project. The movie won best cinematography, best original score and best technical use of sound. In 2006, Team Chow Fa produced Tou and Mai, a romantic comedy between a Hmong American boy and a Hmong refugee.
