Hold on to your lunch classic sci fi movie fans, it looks as if the 3D movie craze has claimed another, unlikely, victim.

"Logan's Run"

Last night at the premiere of "Splice", producer Joel Silver dropped the bombshell, "Logan's Run" will be made in 3D. In fact, the film maker had always envisioned the film in the 3D format (?).

This is what Silver told MTV, "I'd like to make Logan's Run [in 3-D]. It's a movie I've always been intrigued with, excited by. We're writing a script now and that should be a big 3-D movie and it should be devised and shot in 3-D. I think if we can pull it together, then it would be."

Wait a minute here, we are talking about "Logan's Run", right? Makes me more than a little nervous thinking about what kind of plans Silver has for film.

Mad Monster Party: A Plus For "Team Nakajijma"

Mad Monster Party 2013 is now history.  I had a lot of fun and I met a lot of great people. First, I have to commend Eben McGarr and Joe Moe for putting on a great show.  I think they exceeded their attendance expectations by a few thousand.

Next, I have to thank the members of "Team Nakajima" (translator Yoko Connelly and our volunteer stiff (staff) Jeff Blanken)  for their help in making everything involving the Nakajimas go smoothly.

As this was the second convention, there were a few bugs that need to be ironed out.  But, learning from experience will greatly aid in making next year's convention even better. The day began at about one o'clock in the morning with the sound of police vehicle units pulling up to the Blake Hotel or driving nearby.  It was a bit hard to sleep with all the noise from the police sirens.  I found out  this morning that seven units of the Charlotte Police Department responded to a call involving two nude girls at the convention at …

Today Walt Disney Studios has released the first ever images from "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." These pics show Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, and the fetching Penelope Cruz as Angelica, in the usual kind of hi jinks that we have come to expect from the "Pirates" movie series. The 2016 remake of the same name, The Brain That Wouldn't Die is a satirical take on the story, utilizing both the intentional and unintentional comedic elements of the original, while bolstering the characters and plot. Godzilla 2: First Set Photos ... More Monsters?

Filming on the sequel to Gareth Edwards amazing re imagining of Godzilla (2014) has been taking place in Atlanta now for just over two weeks and the first on set photos have leaked out. Not much can be seen in any of the pics, all they contain are images of Warner Bros trailers and cars in all sorts of disrepair. It's the usual collateral damage stuff that exists in every single giant monster movie since 1933 when King Kong decided that he didn't like the civilized world very much and went ... well ape.

The modern St. Patrick’s Day celebrations that will take place on Thursday, at least in the United States, will likely be characterized by commercial lucky charms and green beer—all of which has very little to do with the historical figure of the saint. As it turns out, it took centuries for the holiday to accrue the elements that now seem crucial to its celebrations.

The March 17 celebration started in 1631 when the Church established a Feast Day honoring St. Patrick. He had been Patron Saint of Ireland who had died around the fifth century—a whopping 12 centuries before the modern version of the holiday was first observed.
