Aesir: Ignition is more than just a mecha sci-fi story; it’s the culmination of a dream born from the hearts and minds of Felix Chow and Dustin Janocha, who have transformed their thesis project into something truly special. While they may not have traditional industry backgrounds, what they lack in professional experience, they more than make up for with their passion and dedication. Their goal is to craft a narrative that resonates not just with them, but with fans who cherish this beloved genre.
The inception of this ambitious tale springs from Felix’s lifelong aspiration to tell an original mecha story, drawing inspiration from iconic series like Gundam, Evangelion, and Transformers. Partnering with the talented Frederick F. Ong, they have embarked on a journey to create a vibrant new world filled with adventure and depth. But what sets them apart is their commitment to sharing their creation without barriers, as they firmly believe that great stories and art should be available to everyone, not just a select few.
However, their journey hasn’t been without challenges. Much of the funding for this project, including everything from animation and artwork to the score and post-production, has come straight from their pockets. They have dedicated countless late-night hours to their work, juggling part-time jobs and tuition while tirelessly nurturing Aesir: Ignition. Their unwavering commitment means that every dollar contributed on Kickstarter, no matter how small, brings them one step closer to realizing their dream.
By supporting their campaign, you are granting them the vital freedom to remain independent and fully embrace their creative vision without compromise. Join them on this exciting adventure to breathe life into Aesir: Ignition. Together, we can make it more than just another entry in the mecha genre; we can turn it into a powerful testament to what passionate creators can accomplish when they create art for all.
Plot:
A thousand years have passed since humanity abandoned the crumbling earth, a casualty of extreme climate change brought about by decades of conscious neglect. Now, spread across the vast expanse of the galaxy, humanity flourishes. For centuries, survival felt like a relentless struggle aboard the ARKs—massive vessels adrift in the cosmic sea. Each day was a battle, not just for basic necessities but for Arkium, the vital resource that has kept the remnants of humanity alive. But amidst this hardship, hope emerged as desperate explorers finally discovered new worlds to call home—a chance to start anew and reclaim some semblance of peace.Yet, the remnants of strife remain. On one planet, factions engage in ceaseless conflicts against rival colonies, all purportedly in the name of galactic harmony. In truth, these lofty ideals mask a deeper insatiable greed, reminiscent of ancient empires vying for dominion. The AESIRs, initially designed for the humble task of asteroid mining, have transformed into potent weapons, driving the engines of war and enabling the strongest to impose their will on others. The outcome of the AESIR wars holds tremendous sway—not only over the destinies of distant worlds but also over the narrative of humanity itself. Our tale centers on Marcus, a young boy who has become all too familiar with this ceaseless cycle of violence and the suffering it inflicts on his home planet, Centuria. The shadow of war looms ever larger, and Marcus is soon faced with a harrowing choice. His discovery of the Droidian civilization, nestled within the ruins of forsaken Earth, presents a moral crossroads. Is he to bow to the call of the Versaillian imperialists bent on reclaiming Earth, or will he summon the courage to defend the droids whose existence hangs in the balance? After all, can the life of a droid truly hold equal value to that of a human? As Marcus stands at the precipice of this monumental decision, the weight of history—and the future—presses down upon him.
