'Zombieland' Director Ruben Fleischer In The Mix To Helm 'Ghostbusters 3'
From The Playlist
Last Friday and headed into the weekend, there was a flurry of activity around Marvel's "Ant-Man," with the end result being that Adam McKay dropped out of talks, with Ruben Fleischer and Rawson Thurber emerging as the contenders for the gig, with the latter seen as the frontrunner. Why? For a couple of reasons, but one that includes Fleischer in the mix for another brewing tentpole.
According to The Wrap, the "Zombieland" and "Gangster Squad" director is "being considered" to direct "Ghostbusters 3." The long, long brewing project has been through numerous bumps in the road including Bill Murray wanting pretty much nothing to do with it, Harold Ramis passing away, Ivan Reitman opting not direct, and Phil Lord and Chris Miller flirting with and ultimately turning down the sequel. Fleischer is a recently new father so "Ant-Man" might be coming too quick around the corner for him to take it on, but with "Ghostbusters 3" aiming for an early 2015 shoot (and fingers crossed, considering how long development has been going on), it could be just the right gig for the director, and certainly one to help him lick his wounds after two flops in a row with "30 Minutes Or Less" and "Gangster Squad."

Ghostbusters 3 moving ahead without Harold Ramis
From Digital Spy
Ghostbusters 3 will continue to move ahead following the death of Harold Ramis.
The script for the film is being reworked after the actor and writer passed away this week at the age of 69.
Ramis was due to reprise his role as Egon Spengler in Sony Pictures' film.
Director Ivan Reitman is scheduled to meet with Sony bosses about the future of the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Ramis was said to only have a small role in the sequel, which will apparently centre around a new team of Ghostbusters.
Dan Aykroyd remains attached to the project.
Ramis held a stake in the third film alongside Reitman, Aykroyd and Bill Murray, which will pass to his estate.
The progress on the Ghostbusters 3 script means that the film will not begin shooting in 2014.

Dan Aykroyd reveals Ghostbusters 3 plot details
From TotalFilm
It seems as though Dan Aykroyd has spent the better part of the last decade giving updates on Ghostbusters 3, and sure enough, a recent appearance on Larry King Now has given him the opportunity to provide yet another report. However, with a script now thought to be well on its way to completion, there is at least something concrete to talk about, in the form of a new batch of plot details. "It’s based on new research that’s being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University," explains Aykroyd, when the...

IDW Launches New GHOSTBUSTERS Series In September
Source: IDW PublishingIDW Publishing and Sony Pictures Consumer Products are thrilled to announce the launch of an all-new, ongoing GHOSTBUSTERS comic book series. Spinning out of IDW’s hit Infestation event, and featuring Ghostbusters: Infestation scribe Erik Burham, the ghost hunters from New York City are back with exciting new adventures starting in September. Helping Burnham bring this zany story of the dead to life will be fan-favorite artist Dan Schoening (Ghostbusters: What in Samhain Just Happened?!) and popular IDW Ghostbusters cover artist Nick Runge.
“My dream since I took over the editorial duties on IDW’s Ghostbusters comics license was to bring the boys in proton packs to monthly comics,” said series editor Tom Waltz. “We’ve had fantastic Ghostbusters one-shots and mini-series up to this point, but the incredible success of Ghostbusters: Infestation has proven that Ghostbusters fans, old and new alike, are still very hungry for ghostbusting tales. With the awesome creative team we’ve gathered to make it happen, the best is yet to come!”
In this ongoing series, psychokinetic energy is on the rise again, and business is booming for the boys. Ray is troubled by what could be a prophetic dream—is this an ill omen of an upcoming apocaplypse, or just a little indigestion? These questions and more are raised in the first issue of the all-new GHOSTBUSTERS comic series. In addition, each issue will contain two pages of exclusive behind-the-scenes extras by creator Tristan Jones (Tales of the TMNT.)
IDW will offer special retailer incentive covers, including a “Who Ya Gonna call” cover by Schoening, and a glow-in-the-dark cover. Furthermore, as part of IDW’s “Be a Ghostbuster” promotion, retailers will have the opportunity to obtain a unique variant featuring up to four personalized Ghostbusters on their cover. Fans are encouraged to reach out to their retailers to learn more about these exclusive variant covers.
GHOSTBUSTERS #1 ($3.99, 32 pages, full color) will be available in stores in September 2011. Diamond order code: JUL11 0130
Dr. Peter Venkman Becomes A Ghost In Gostbusters 3!
Written By: Ken HulseySource: WENN
Bill Murray has just let one major plot point from the upcoming "Ghostbusters" sequel slip, his character, Dr. Peter Venkman, will be dead.
That's right, Venkman is going to be a ghost in "Ghostbusters 3", and you want to know the funny part? It was Murray himself that insisted on it.
The only way that the execs over at Sony could get Murray to join his fellow cast-mates, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, was to agree to let his character bite it in the films opening scene.
Murray recently told reporters, "I’ll come back in Ghostbusters 3 only if I get to be a ghost. I said to them, 'I'll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.' So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film.”
This isn't the first big plot point to be revealed about the upcoming "Ghostbusters" sequel. Back in May of 2009, Dan Aykroyd let it be known that he intended for the film to launch an all-new series of movies centering around an all-girl "Ghostbusters" team.
"I'd like it to be a passing-of-the-torch movie. Let's revisit the old characters briefly and happily and have them there as family but let's pass it on to a new generation", Aykroyd explained.
Ultimately it was the actor's new vision for the franchise that caused Sigourney Weaver to back out of the project.
So let's recap. "Ghostbusters 3" will about an all-girl ghostbusting team that will be receiving guidance from a deceased Peter Venkman, much in the same way that Luke got words of wisdom from Obi-Wan.
Oh, and Raymond, Egon and Winston will be there at the beginning of the film to 'pass the torch'.
It's one of those things that makes ya go....hmmmmmm.
Can't say that I like the way that any of this sounds. Hopefully it's all just banter being tossed out to the masses to keep the 'real' plot for "Ghostbusters 3" a secret.
We can all hope......right?

Sexy Female Ghostbusters Chase Sigourney Weaver Out Of Sequel
Written By: Ken HulseySource: WENN
It's looks like Dan Aykroyd's vision of an all sexy female Ghostbuster team wasn't something actress Sigourney Weaver wanted to be a part of. Just under a month after the actress had been signed on to reprise her role as Dana Barrett in "Ghostbusters 3" she surprisingly backed out.
TVSquad.com caught up with Weaver who explains, "I think they're trying to create something new completely with the Ghostbusters, although I know Bill is in it. I don't expect to have anything to do with it, although I wish them well."
I believe that it is safe to assume, that since Weaver had signed on to be in the film at about the same time that Aykroyd began talking about his all female "Ghostbusters", that she didn't quite know what she was signing on for. It looks as if the actress didn't agree with the direction that the movie series is about to take.
If indeed Sigourney Weaver backed out of "Ghostbusters 3" because she didn't want to be part of 'jiggly movie', then I don't blame her. Aykroyd's all sexy female ghost fighting team idea.....well......kinda sucks.

An All Girl Ghostbuster Team? - Say It Isn't So Aykroyd!

If Dan Aykroyd has his way, the next "Ghostbusters" movie will look a lot like "Charlies Angels." Yes, indeed the comedian plans for "Ghostbusters 3" to be the first in a series of films that features an all girl ghost busting team.
All the original cast from the first two films have now signed on to the project, including Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, and the remaining holdout, Sigourney Weaver, who reportedly just put ink to paper.
Although all the classic characters are now in place, don't expect to see too much of them. Aykroyd explains, "I'd like it to be a passing-of-the-torch movie. Let's revisit the old characters briefly and happily and have them there as family but let's pass it on to a new generation."
Reportedly Aykroyd already has his eyes set on two potential members of his female ghost busting team. Recently he told reporters that his wish list includes both actresses Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku.
The actor admits that he still feels that the project will fall apart, but if it doesn't, filming will begin at the end of the year.

Sometimes when you go searching for information on the Internet you get duped. For every fact on the net, there are at least a dozen lies. Such is the case of a blog that was created by someone called "Ghostspy." Now, even though the mystery blogger never came out and said so directly, he lead a lot of people into believing that he was working on the set of "Ghostbusters 3."
When the blog first started, the mystery blogger posted this statement: "Yes, they are shooting it already. And yes, I am part of the crew. And no, I won’t tell any details. Because if I do and they find out, they will kill me. That’s why my little friend here (a camera) will do the talking. Stay tuned for more …"
That statement, plus the "Ghostbusters" logo included in the title of the site, lead to the speculation that indeed this individual was somehow working on the set of the third "Ghostbusters" movie.
For the past couple of months the blogger has been posting Youtube videos shot with a concealed spy camera on the set along with production drawings of uniforms and a giant monster made out of car parts.
Well now the truth has finally been revealed. Yes, ladies and gentleman. it was all a publicity stunt.
You see, our mystery blogger wasn't working on the set of "Ghostbusters 3" at all. What he was really working on was a "Ghostbusters" themed car commercial for the French auto maker Citreon.
That's right! A car add.
In the clip, three French "Ghostbusters" come to save the city from the giant "Car Parts Monster." After the creature gets 'zapped', it comes apart, and all the pieces go into the vehicles 'roomy' hatch-back.
Sorry fans, we all get fooled sometimes.
Oh, and before I forget, we haven't heard the last of "Ghostspy". Here is the final post from his blog:
"Oh, and by the way: I’m out. I applied as a runner for a film production company. I think they are shooting some huge blockbuster movie! And I will definitely take my camera. So, maybe I’ll see you around …"
I wonder if we will be tricked into thinking some juice commercial is the new "Star Trek" movie?

Ghostbusters 3 Behind The Scenes Footage......Maybe?

Okay, honestly I don't know foresure what this stuff is.
There is a blog out there called "Ghostspy" where somebody has posted several videos, photos and production sketches from a movie that is being filmed right now. What movie is it? I don't know.
The only thing anyone can guess is that it is "Ghostbusters 3." The truth is, however, that is only a guess. The only evidence that it may be "G3" comes from the blogs logo, which looks like the "Ghostbusters" logo. Other than that......who knows?
Regardless, there is a film production going on right now with a spy in their mitts.
Here is what the mysterious blogger posted on January 8th, "Yes, they are shooting it already. And yes, I am part of the crew. And no, I won’t tell any details. Because if I do and they find out, they will kill me. That’s why my little friend here will do the talking. Stay tuned for more …"
"My little friend" refers to a small camera, which the blogger has proudly posted photos of on his blog.
After that our "Spy" posted several videos from location shoots, where people can be seen running from something and cars are being smashed. Those look like scenes from any typical Godzilla film or other giant monster flick.
There is a video of a mock-up of a giant trash creature. Obviously, that must be what the people a running from in the other videos.
What does all this mean?
Well, I can only deduce that either this is a deliberate act by a low-budget monster movie to gain publicity, or this is really "Ghostbusters 3" footage leaked by some idiot who is about to be out of work.
Lets face facts here. If indeed this is all leaked footage, then our "Spy" is soon to be discovered. C'mon, you can't create a blog like that without being found out.
Lawyers be on alert! Your services will soon be needed!
It is for that reason that I'm leaning towards this being a very deliberate publicity stunt put on by a smaller production company.
I'm certain our good friend Avery Guerra will have the scoop very soon, if this is indeed the case.
Look for "Attack of the Trash Monster" at your local video retailer later this year.
Unless its the sequel to "Cloverfield" being shot? Naw! The Godzilla 3D movie we keep hearing about....? Naw...couldn't be.

Ghostbusters 3 Is In The Early Stages Of Production?
Source: VarietyTwo writers from the US version of The Office have been recruited to write a third instalment of Ghostbusters, according to trade newspaper Variety.
Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky's hiring is seen as a sure sign the long-mooted comedy will finally be made.
Ghostbusters and its 1989 sequel, Ghostbusters 2, saw Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as bumbling scientists who rid New York of paranormal threats.
It is hoped the new film will reunite the original cast.
Columbia Pictures has declined to comment on whether a third Ghostbusters was in development, Variety reported.
But director John Landis, who worked with Aykroyd on The Blues Brothers and Trading Places, has said the film would definitely be made.
"I'm not involved but I know it's happening," he told the BBC News website at the Venice Film Festival.
