Classic UFO Casebook: What We Know About the Kentucky UFO Incident

 Written By: Ken Hulsey

Was Air Force pilot Thomas Mantell the first person to lose his life in a potential conflict with beings from another world? In the late 1940s, UFO sightings in the United States were exploding after reports of nine flying saucers over the Cascade Mountains and the infamous crash in Roswell, New Mexico. Although these early UFO reports were often harmless—mostly just sightings of unusual objects in the sky—events took a concerning turn on January 7, 1948.

The BBC Interviews Professor Greg Eghigian About The History Of Reported UFO Sightings

This morning I came across a great interview with Penn State Professor of History and Bioethics Greg Eghigian about his research into the history of reported UFO sightings around the world. Eghigian has always been fascinated with the subject, and after being challenged by a colleague and spending a summer at home due to illness, he began to research historical accounts. The bulk of that research became the basis for his book, "After The Flying Saucers Came."

Conclusive Proof That Earth Has Been Visited By UFOs

The truth is out there. It’s just… you’d think with all the cellphone cameras out there someone would have figured it out by now. But despite some of the more bizarre life forms stalking the New York subways, no definitive proof of extraterrestrial life exists.

Few people would think that we’re alone in the universe anymore. At the beginning of the 20th century, humanity was shocked to learn the Milky Way wasn’t the only galaxy in the universe. Today we know at minimum there are 100 billion galaxies in the universe. It’s hard to wrap our primitive primate brains around that one. But whether or not life is out there isn’t the question. It’s whether or not any them have been probing our humble little abode.

If you look at the stories of alien encounters and UFO sightings, striking similarities begin to emerge. Why is it that even in remote parts of the world, isolated from popular media, the story of little grey men with the big heads and cold large eyes always turn up?

Now one of the worlds top paranormal investigators has discovered new evidence that we may not be alone in the universe. See the clip below:

Indeed the truth is out there!

Searching For Bigfoot In The Bayou State Of Louisiana

Today I had the pleasure of meeting up with Craig Woolheater (the founder of the wonderful cryptozoology website Cryptomundo) and several other Bigfoot researchers at Chicot State Park. Craig ventured out of his home state of Texas and joined us here in the swamp to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his life-changing sighting of a Bigfoot in 1994 near the town of Bunkie in Avoyelles Parish (LA).

I couldn't pass up an opportunity to meet fellow enthusiasts and find out more about Craig's encounter since Bunkie is literally fifteen minutes down the road from my home in Lecompte (LA). It also didn't hurt that I have known Craig for several years and I was once a contributor to his website.

Here is Craig's published report of the sighting:

"My ex-wife (girlfriend at the time) and I were driving back to Dallas from New Orleans. We had started out ‪at 9 pm‬. I was driving my 1991 Isuzu Amigo, and the top was rolled up because the weather was nice. We had been traveling between 2 1/2 to 3 hours at 75 mph. We were approaching Bunkie. At this point, we were on an unlit 2-lane highway, Highway 71. On the left side of the road, it was very swampy, to the right 25 to 30 feet from the edge of the road, was the tree line.

As we were driving at approximately 75 mph, we saw an upright figure off to our right in the headlights. We both saw it as we passed and exclaimed simultaneously, "Did you just see what I saw?". We both agreed that we had and I asked her, "What do you think that you saw?". She said, "It think I saw a Bigfoot." I wanted to immediately turn around and go back. She did not as we were in an open convertible. There was a friend of ours asleep in the back seat, who slept through the entire incident.

As we passed it, it never seemed to detect our presence. At least that's the way it seemed because it never turned or even flinched as we went by.

We drove for 10-15 minutes until we came to a small church in the country and pulled in to talk about what we had seen. We discussed it for ten minutes or so and got back on the road to Dallas.

DESCRIPTION: We saw the backside of the creature, as it was traveling in the same direction that we were. We estimated its height at 7'. It was covered with hair and in the illumination of my headlights, it appeared to be gray in color. It was walking and it was slumped over in the front."

Besides being able to hear about Craig's encounter first hand the event provided the opportunity for several of us to share our own stories and brain-storm about possible future expeditions, town hall meetings (where people could feel comfortable about sharing their own sightings) and even a documentary in the future. The idea of even expanding future investigations to other paranormal phenomena such as hauntings and UFOs was also touched upon but that may be getting way ahead of ourselves. Regardless, there was a consensus that local researchers should get together in the future to work on Bigfoot related projects.

This is where I would like to put forward an open invitation to anyone who has seen Bigfoot or any other unexplained creature here in Louisiana to respond to this article or contact myself through this website. The reason for this call for information is to help compile a database of local sightings for future articles, research, expeditions and possibly the documentary I mentioned earlier. These reports can of course be anonymous if you wish and no reported sighting will be published without consent.

My kudos to Mark Daniels, Eden Boudreaux, Courtnye Ann Frederic, Valerie Bamburg Guice, Elise Orr. Sasquatch Ethology Society, The Ladies of Louisiana and Mississippi for making this event possible.

New Report Finds Bigfoot Prefers These Eight States

In the world of Sasquatch sightings, not all states are created equal.

That’s according to a new ranking of the best spots in the United States to get a glimpse of Bigfoot, which the Travel Channel compiled based on “never-before-released data” gathered by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization.

Washington is where Bigfoot hunters are most likely to lay eyes on the legendary creature, the Travel Channel says, and it’s the No. 1 state on the list.

“With a whopping 2,032 sightings and counting, this is the world’s most active region,” according to the Travel Channel. “The most popular places to catch a glimpse include the Blue Mountains, Okanogan County — or better yet, Ape Canyon — the locale of one of the most aggressive Bigfoot encounters ever recorded.”

Next on the list comes California, with 1,697 reported sightings of the hairy beast, followed by Pennsylvania, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oregon and Texas with 806 sightings.

“East Texas, especially the areas that border Oklahoma and Louisiana, is the site of countless Bigfoot reports each year,” the Travel Channel ranking said.

But those aren’t the only states where Bigfoot is rumored to be on the prowl: There are towns in North Carolina that boast Bigfoot museums, festivals and more, The News & Observer in Raleigh reported last year. One town in the Bigfoot-crazy state has even named the cryptid its “official animal,” the Charlotte Observer reported.

“Who is to say what’s out there?” Bob Boyette, town manager in Marion, N.C., told The Observer. “Nobody knows for sure, and there are some smart people who are convinced it’s real.”

There are international sightings, too — including an instance of Yeti tracks reportedly discovered just last month by India’s army in Nepal, according to the Observer. (Skeptical Indian media outlets panned the reported find as “deeply, deeply embarrassing” for the army.)

The Bigfoot-tracking information the new ranking relied on included 23,000 sightings across the U.S., and it amounts to “the world’s ultimate Sasquatch database of compiled sightings and testimonies,” according to a March blog post leading up to the release of the Travel Channel’s new show “In Search of Monsters.”

The series airs Wednesdays at 9:00pm ET/PT, according to the Travel Channel. Bigfoot was featured in the first episode, the blog post said.

Navy Refuses To Release Classified UFO Information

From The Avondale Advocate

The U.S. Navy is putting together new guidelines for its personnel to report "unidentified aircraft," but says it will not release any of the collected information publicly as it will be privileged and classified, .

First reported on the new guidelines, an important step to create a formal process for collecting, analyzing and destigmatizing UDOs.

Joseph Gradisher, a spokesman for the office of the deputy chief of naval operations for information warfare, told the Post "no release of information to the general public is expected."

"Military aviation safety organizations always retain reporting of hazards to aviation as privileged information in order to preserve the free and honest prioritization and discussion of safety among aircrew," he said. "Furthermore, any report generated as a result of these investigations will, by necessity, include classified information on military operations."

The U.S. government has looked into the phenomena of unexplained objects before dating back to the 1950s, including a secret investigation where the Pentagon collected and analyzed "anomalous aerospace threats."

Funding for the "UFO" office ended in 2012, though operations for the Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program .

Luis Elizondo, an intelligence officer who ran AATIP before leaving the Pentagon, told the Post some information collected by the Navy could be released in the future.

"If it remains strictly within classified channels, then the 'right person' may not actually get the information," he said. "The right person doesn't necessarily mean a military leader. It can be a lawmaker. It can be a whole host of different individuals."

Things That Go Bump In The Night La Llorona

The tale of La Llorona is a Mexican folk story about a woman trapped between this world and the afterlife, searching for what she has lost.

From donQuijote.org

"Both a condemned woman and a Goddess bearing an ominous message." It is often said that one way to summon La Llorona (the weeping woman) is to light red candles and enclose yourself in a room whose walls are decorated with mirrors while repeating her name. Others say she is likely to make herself present around disobedient children, and still others have reported sightings of her estranged silhouette endlessly navigating Mexican lakes and rivers, wailing "Ay, mis hijos!" or 'Oh, my children!"

A prominent figure in folkloric horror, the main character of the La Llorona legend is doomed to an eternity of searching different bodies of water for her children, who met a tragic end with a watery grave. The tale of La Llorona begins with a woman named Maria, blessed with natural beauty, who is determined to marry only the most handsome man she meets, shunning any man she sees as unable to match her aesthetically. The different versions of the narrative then vary here, but the most widely propagated states that Maria wooed her potential suitor by appearing aloof and difficult to win over, yet once the couple eventually married and had two children together, the young man's thoughts began to stray, dreaming of his previously wild lifestyle on the prairies. In some versions, the ranchero is unfaithful to Maria, and in others, she merely resents his emotional indifference in comparison to the attention he continues to bestow upon their children.

Her children drown, and many versions of the tale suggest their death was deliberate and at her own hands, prior to drowning herself. When she is refused entry to heaven without them, she is forced to search the waters for their remains for the afterlife. In the Colonial Mexican version, Maria gives birth to the children of a white Spaniard above her class and murders her offspring as an immediate reaction to his refusal to make her his wife. Naturally, the La Llorona story has been exploited and represented in popular culture and Mexican film throughout the 20th and 21st centuries; the 1960s saw the release of La Llorona, a Mexican film directed by Rene Cardona, which narrates the experiences of a family haunted by the weeping woman's evil spirit. More recently, in 2013, Universal Studios theme park in Orlando, Florida ran with the theme of La Llorona for one of several "scare zones" used in the annual Halloween Horror nights, with mazes, films, and chilling entertainment centered around the Mexican legend.

The attraction involved guests entering an abandoned Mexican chapel and attending a funeral for her victims, with creative directors at the park looking to "transport guests into her mysterious realm." It is evident then that La Llorona is more than a horror story; on some level, Maria's emotional torment endows her character with a level of vulnerability rarely seen in chilling legends. Beneath the narrative lies an ambiguous message explaining the legend's persistence in popular culture; Maria's fate depicts the inevitably disastrous conclusion to shallow priorities and an inflated sense of self. Other critics have noted the legend's presentation of machismo with its focus on female responsibility and male absence.

La Llorona also touches upon issues of motherhood, the feminine condition, and the more universal notion of a life after death reflective of the choices made while on Earth. In contemporary society, the folklore still has some didactic relevance, not to mention that it remains the perfect story for parents to convince their children to come inside so they'll be safe after dark.

Things That Go Bump In The Night The Mill Race Park Monster

The Mill Race Park Monster is a beast that was purportedly seen in Columbus, Indiana in 1974. It launched what is considered by some people to be the largest monster hunt in US history. It has been described by witnesses as bipedal, between six to seven feet tall, and having a mossy green appearance.

Initial Sightings

On November 1st, 1974, the police department in Columbus, Indiana received reports from at least two sets of eyewitnesses who claimed to have seen and even possibly been attacked by a huge green-skinned monster by the water inside Mill Race Park.

The first report involved four young women whose names were not released by the police department. At about 3 PM, one of the women spotted the monster between two trees in the park. The group was able to escape and immediately reported their encounter to the police. They stated they had seen a "green, hairy, and large" creature.

The second report involved a pair of women unrelated to the first group, and who were also supposedly unaware of the sighting that had previously been reported. Tyra Cataline, one of those women, later came forward in 2014 on the show Monsters and Mysteries in America. She also told her story in 2015 on a local Fox News station, a full 41 years after the fact. She told them, "It was something. I don't know what it was, but it wasn't somebody wearing a costume."

Cataline's report also described the monster as having slime on its face and possessing large claws. The women claimed to have been attacked, and their car had scratch marks and a stench as a result of that attack.

The Word Spreads

On November 2nd, 1974, the newspaper The Republic printed a story titled "Monster - Women Report Seeing 'Beast' in Mill Race," which detailed both reported encounters. On November 6th, The Republic printed another report which involved two men in their 20s. In this report, the newspaper officially called the creature the "Mill Race Monster."

On November 9th, 1974, another newspaper, the Indianapolis Star, wrote a report of yet another encounter, this time involving two city dogcatchers, Rick Duckworth and John Brown.

Duckworth claimed he attempted to chase the monster after it ran from them. He also claimed after the fact that it was not a monster at all, but merely a large man "wearing a green mask and green blankets."

It was after this report that that amateur monster hunters and curiosity seekers began to pour into the area. One night, there was even supposedly over 100 cars in the park due to this influx of people.

Crowd Control

There were so many people hunting for the Mill Race Monster that it soon became necessary for local law enforcement to respond. On November 8th, 1974, the director of the city park, Robert Gillikin, stated that, "It may become necessary to close the park to the public at night, not because of the 'monster' but because of the public."

Gillikin followed through with his statement, and the park was closed to the public at night soon after. Police were also stationed around all entrances in order to prevent people attempting to hunt the Mill Race Monster from entering. The Columbus Police Department even unofficially appointed Officer Kenneth St. John as "Monster Control Officer."

Conclusion

No one has ever confirmed whether or not the Mill Race Monster was fake, as Duckworth claimed, despite all the attempts by multiple people to hunt it. One interesting element to add into the mix, however, was that in the story initially printed by The Republic on November 6th, one of the two unnamed men speculated that because there had been UFOs supposedly seen over the area as well, the Mill Race Park Monster might have been of alien origin.

Sightings have continued up to the present day. The story run by the Fox News station featuring Tyra Cataline was prompted by a report on October 10th, 2015 from a local hunter. He claimed to have seen a bigfoot-like creature, which may or may not have been related to the Mill Race Monster, in the Morgan-Monroe State Forest in Martinsville, Indiana.

The fact that there has been such a recent reported sighting shows that the Mill Race Monster's notoriety has continued, and like any good monster story, it is unlikely the legend will go away any time soon.

Strange Humanoid Sea Creature Filmed Off Huntington Beach

Real Mermaid or Monster?

It looks like the Creature from the Black Lagoon was caught swimming off the California coast recently.

From Brinkwire.com

A BIZARRE creature sparked terror on the shores after beachgoers failed to identify what was heading their way.

Video footage shows the mysterious incident that occurred over this weekend.

One man, identified as George, was enjoying a day out on Huntington Beach in California, US, when he was faced with an unusual scene.

The clip shows the “human-like” animal as it breaches the surface of the water.

An arm appears to be raised and you can make out what looks like a face too.

“And that is exactly why I never go in the sea,” one admitted.

Another added: “Did the Loch Ness Monster go on holiday?”

And a third claimed: “Mermaid/Merman. Looks part human. But then again, nowadays, who knows?”

New York Town Names Bigfoot Official Mascot

No one has ever proven a Bigfoot exists, but that isn’t stopping one small town from proclaiming the ape-like monster its “official animal.”

Whitehall village, in upstate New York, passed the resolution 4-0 and it also requires citizens to observe a Bigfoot “Appreciation Day” in September, reported the Albany Times Union. The resolution refers to the mythical creature by its more formal name: Sasquatch.

One former town board member dubbed the unorthodox vote a “good publicity” move, The Whitehall News reported.

“It can’t hurt,” village trustee George Armstrong told the newspaper.

Belief in the existence of Bigfoot is based largely on circumstantial evidence, including eyewitness accounts, blurry photographs and mysterious footprints. Scientists insist the sightings are often misidentifications of other animals.

New York isn’t exactly known as a hotbed of Bigfoot sightings of late, but TV station WTEN explains several sightings did occur in the 1970s. Whitehall seized on the publicity and now has multiple Bigfoot statues and an annual Sasquatch festival, WTEN reports.

The town’s biggest claim to fame is a 1976 incident in which three people reported seeing “a large, ape-like creature between 7-feet and 8-feet tall, darting toward their car,” according to CryptoZooNews.com.

Former UK ministry official claims "UFOs are real, but we don’t know what they are"

Nick Pope, a British media commentator who worked with the British Government’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) from 1985 to 2006 has claimed that unidentified flying objects (UFO) are real. In an exclusive story written for the Sun, Pope revealed that most of the UFO sightings could be explained, but around five percent remain mysterious.

UFOs are real

As per Nick Pope, the cases which perplexed his MoD team during the investigation were the near misses between UFOs and commercial aircraft. The former MoD insider argued that many pilots have reported mysterious UFO encounters which still remain unanswered.

“The bottom line was that we knew UFOs were real, but we didn’t know what they were. What was much more fun was the other weird stuff that came our way simply because there was nowhere else in government to send it: crop circles, claims that people had been abducted by aliens, ghost sightings and people who claimed to be psychic and volunteered their services to British intelligence,” wrote Nick Pope on the Sun.

Nick Pope also made it clear that Russians and Chinese had conducted tremendous probe to unravel the mystery behind UFO sightings. As per Pope, Russians had also researched and investigated about parapsychology, telekinesis, and various other psychic phenomena.

US government’s clever move

The former Directorate of Defence Security also talked about Pentagon’s secret UFO search program ‘Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP)’. He wrote that the US government did a very clever move by not mentioning the word UFO in the name of the investigation program.

“We still don’t know much about AATIP, and it may take Congressional hearings to resolve the issue. Either way, if anyone was laughing about UFOs before, they’re not laughing now,” added Pope.

He also revealed that the UFOs spotted in the gun camera footage of the Royal Air Force were very similar to that of the flying objects featured in the declassified videos released by Pentagon.

UFOs: How Aliens Should Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

UFO Report - "A conspiracy of men who cooperated with alien beings to create human alien hybrids."

Dang It! I hate it when stuff from the X-Files turns out to be true!

Background from The X-Files Wiki:

A hybrid is the genetically manipulated product of alien and human DNA as part of the colonization project run by the Syndicate. Some humans became hybrids via gene therapy while others were conceived through a hybridization process.

When the Syndicate concluded a sinister alliance with the alien colonists in 1973, an alien fetus was given to them in exchange for family members to be used as test subjects. This fetus granted them access to alien and allowed them to create a hybrid race between man and alien, paving the way for colonization. A scientific method was also taught so they could produce successful specimens; the Syndicate had previously invited Nazi and Japanese scientists to participate in early experiments using alien DNA taken from corpses found at the Roswell crash site in New Mexico with disastrous results. The alliance implied that Syndicate members and their families would be spared as they became hybrids and this hybrid race would become the colonists’ slave race. But the Syndicate didn’t simply agree to this; they secretly planned to elaborate a vaccine against the black oil so they could resist the hegemony. Based on the work of Russian geneticists who had found an interesting anomaly in identical twins, the Syndicate’s scientists managed to create healthy hybrid clone series. These clones had a human appearance so they could easily blend in, but had inherited the colonists’ caustic blood and some of their particular abilities such as breathing underwater and fast healing of the wounds. These attributes made them practically indestructible and they could only be killed using a weapon or an alien stiletto inserted at the base of the skull, the colonist race’s only vulnerable point. Some of these clones were produced using female abductees’ ova, others using human fetuses obtained in abortion clinics where Syndicate researchers worked. The embryo would grow in a tank filled with a greenish amniotic fluid until it had reached the desired development stage for the task assigned to the hybrid.

Now check out this gem from Yahoo! News UK:

Self-described ‘researchers’ have made some extraordinary claims about three-fingered mummies unearthed in Nazca Peru – hinting that the creatures may be alien.

The mummies were unearthed in 2015, and have been touted as evidence of ‘ancient aliens’ by UFO fans.

UFO researcher Steve Mera said this week that DNA tests show one of the bodies is 98.5% primate, related to humans, and 1.5% ‘unknown’.

Mera suggests that the creatures might be a new species of human.

Steve said, ‘We can confirm that we have evidence that the Maria body constitutes an incredible discovery.

‘A discovery that may cause us to alter our history books forever. She could be the most important discovery of the 21st Century.
Others are sceptical – pointing to the fact that some of the ‘researchers’ involved in the find are trying to charge people to download information from their website.

The World Congress on Mummy Studies has described the find as a fraud, and calls it, ‘an irresponsible organized campaign of disinformation.’

Hoax debunking site Metabunk has a detailed analysis here.

Nigel Watson, author of the UFO Investigations Manual said, ‘I think the whole saga of finding these mummies is laughable and they are very probably fakes.

‘If you think about it how would humanoid aliens with three long fingers survive? They would be incredibly clumsy and it seems doubtful they would be capable of making a cup of tea let alone a flying saucer.

‘It also doesn’t look good that this Earth shattering news was originally fed to us via a website you have to subscribe to, rather than through officially recognised scientific channels.

‘At the end of they day this is fake news delivered in a slick fashion to indulge our fascination with ancient aliens and UFOs.’

I think that the folks over at Ancestry DNA could solve this mystery in a jiff! Okay we have your results ... your 75% South American Native ... 20% Northern African ... and 5% Gliese (A planet 22 light years from Earth). According to the family tree you submitted online and your DNA we determined that your family migrated from Gliese to Peru in 300 BC. Your test also revealed that you may be <2% Kepler-22b ... but we can't confirm that with any accuracy.

My friend, can your heart stand the shocking facts about bacteria from outer space?

It seems that Soviet scientists have had swabs full of alien goo for some time now. They just plum forgot about it.

Here is the story from our friends over at BGR News:

Science fiction has taught us to expect our first contact with alien life to be a momentous event, with radio signals from another civilization filling our airwaves and perhaps even the arrival of an alien spaceship or two. Reality is somewhat less exciting, and scientists have long expected our first discovery of extraterrestrial life to be on the microscopic scale. Now, the Russian space agency claims they may have stumbled upon just that, and it may have been hiding under our noses the entire time.

Russian cosmonauts have reportedly discovered tiny bacteria on a swab collected from outside the International Space Station, and they’re confident that the organisms didn’t originate on our planet. If the discovery can be confirmed, it would be the very first concrete evidence of extraterrestrial life. That’s a pretty big deal.

The swabs, which were collected years ago but seemingly overlooked, contained living bacteria which may have come from outer space. “Somehow these swabs reveal bacteria that were absent during the launch of the ISS module,” Russian cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov explains. “That is, they have come from outer space and settled along the external surface. They are being studied so far and it seems that they pose no danger.”

Along with the purported alien bacteria, other bacteria thought to have originated on Earth was also found on the swabs. Surviving in the vacuum of space is no easy feat, and intense temperature fluctuations failed to kill the bacteria over the course of three years, which is mighty impressive. It’s unclear exactly how the researchers were able to differentiate between terrestrial bacteria and the alien bacteria that appeared within the same samples.

The bacteria was brought back to Earth on the swabs and is now being studied, though the Russian space agency says it shouldn’t be considered dangerous. The group apparently didn’t actually know the bacteria was present on the swab samples until it was returned to Earth for closer examination.

There will surely be plenty of scientific interest and certainly debate over where the bacteria originated, but if you’ve seen sci-fi movies you already know that the bacteria will become sentient and lead to the total destruction of the Earth within a few weeks anyway, so get your affairs in order.

I have to agree with the author here. In just about about every Sci-Fi film I've ever seen once this kinda stuff gets exposed to oxygen it comes to life and mutates into some sort of critter.

In the 1968 movie 'Green Slime' a group of astronauts stepped in some sort of bacteria while exploring an asteroid. They returned to their space station only to have the stuff mutate into a bunch of one-eyed things with tentacles that looked like dill pickles. You couldn't kill the things because they lived on energy and simply spawned new ones every time their blood (fluids?) was spilled from trying to shoot them.

I think that the exact same kind of scenario is likely to play out here.

My friends, can your hearts stand the shocking facts about one-eyed pickle monsters from outer space?

UFOs: How Aliens Should Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

Well it looks like a senario from the sci-fi classic "The Day The Earth Stood Still" may come to pass yet. According to new documentary aliens from other worlds don't care much for nuclear weapons and our potential use of them on ourselves ... or possibly them.

I refer to Klaatu:

"... you will forgive me if I speak bluntly. The universe grows smaller every day, and the threat of aggression by any group, anywhere, can no longer be tolerated. There must be security for all, or no one is secure. Now, this does not mean giving up any freedom, except the freedom to act irresponsibly. Your ancestors knew this when they made laws to govern themselves and hired policemen to enforce them. We, of the other planets, have long accepted this principle. We have an organization for the mutual protection of all planets and for the complete elimination of aggression. The test of any such higher authority is, of course, the police force that supports it. For our policemen, we created a race of robots. Their function is to patrol the planets in spaceships like this one and preserve the peace. In matters of aggression, we have given them absolute power over us. This power cannot be revoked. At the first sign of violence, they act automatically against the aggressor. The penalty for provoking their action is too terrible to risk. The result is, we live in peace, without arms or armies, secure in the knowledge that we are free from aggression and war. Free to pursue more... profitable enterprises. Now, we do not pretend to have achieved perfection, but we do have a system, and it works. I came here to give you these facts. It is no concern of ours how you run your own planet, but if you threaten to extend your violence, this Earth of yours will be reduced to a burned-out cinder. Your choice is simple: join us and live in peace, or pursue your present course and face obliteration. We shall be waiting for your answer. The decision rests with you."

From UK Progressive:

"Visitors from outer space obviously do not like nuclear stuff in the hands of humans. Otherwise, why focus on shutting down nuclear sites? Any force powerful enough to shut down nuclear weapon silos is so far beyond the capabilities of earthlings that they can dictate whatever they want. Still, why shut down missile sites? If “intention” is exposed by activity, then their message says nuclear power plants and nuclear weapons should go the way of the dodo bird."

Check this out:

"There are many, many documentaries about UFOs but mostly ill conceived, unsubstantiated and horribly contrived. UAMN’s may be one of the only films that seems credible (hopefully, maybe) because of the quality of first-hand witness accounts and use of declassified military documents.

“UFOs and Nukes: The Secret Link Revealed” is a Robert Hastings film. He was born in Albuquerque, NM in 1950 at a military base where atomic weapons were engineered. His father served in the USAF. From 1966-67, the family stationed at Malmstrom AFB, Montana. During one particular incident of UFO activity over a Minuteman missile site, Hastings personally witnessed five UFOs tracked on radar at base air control. That experience led to a lifetime of research. The film’s message comes thru very clearly. Humans should not be messing around with nuclear power. Didn’t Einstein also say that?

Hasting’s film is based upon declassified U.S. government documents and personal accounts of military officers, revealing that, as early as December 1948, UFOs began showing up at American nuclear laboratories, bomb storage depots, weapons tests grounds, and as time went on, intercontinental weapons missile sites."

No one knows when the end of the world will be. No one!

With many people predicting the end of the world coming at the end of the month I decided that the study of Revelations would be in order.

From the Catholic Church:

The Apocalypse, or Revelation to John, the last book of the Bible, is one of the most difficult to understand because it abounds in unfamiliar and extravagant symbolism, which at best appears unusual to the modern reader. Symbolic language, however, is one of the chief characteristics of apocalyptic literature, of which this book is an outstanding example. Such literature enjoyed wide popularity in both Jewish and Christian circles from ca. 200 B.C. to A.D. 200.

This book contains an account of visions in symbolic and allegorical language borrowed extensively from the Old Testament, especially Ezekiel, Zechariah, and Daniel. Whether or not these visions were real experiences of the author or simply literary conventions employed by him is an open question.

This much, however, is certain: symbolic descriptions are not to be taken as literal descriptions, nor is the symbolism meant to be pictured realistically. One would find it difficult and repulsive to visualize a lamb with seven horns and seven eyes; yet Jesus Christ is described in precisely such words (Rev 5:6). The author used these images to suggest Christ’s universal (seven) power (horns) and knowledge (eyes). A significant feature of apocalyptic writing is the use of symbolic colors, metals, garments (Rev 1:13–16; 3:18; 4:4; 6:1–8; 17:4; 19:8), and numbers (four signifies the world, six imperfection, seven totality or perfection, twelve Israel’s tribes or the apostles, one thousand immensity). Finally the vindictive language in the book (Rev 6:9–10; 18:1–19:4) is also to be understood symbolically and not literally. The cries for vengeance on the lips of Christian martyrs that sound so harsh are in fact literary devices the author employed to evoke in the reader and hearer a feeling of horror for apostasy and rebellion that will be severely punished by God.

The lurid descriptions of the punishment of Jezebel (Rev 2:22) and of the destruction of the great harlot, Babylon (Rev 16:9–19:2), are likewise literary devices. The metaphor of Babylon as harlot would be wrongly construed if interpreted literally. On the other hand, the stylized figure of the woman clothed with the sun (Rev 12:1–6), depicting the New Israel, may seem to be a negative stereotype. It is necessary to look beyond the literal meaning to see that these images mean to convey a sense of God’s wrath at sin in the former case and trust in God’s providential care over the church in the latter.

The Book of Revelation cannot be adequately understood except against the historical background that occasioned its writing. Like Daniel and other apocalypses, it was composed as resistance literature to meet a crisis. The book itself suggests that the crisis was ruthless persecution of the early church by the Roman authorities; the harlot Babylon symbolizes pagan Rome, the city on seven hills (Rev 17:9). The book is, then, an exhortation and admonition to Christians of the first century to stand firm in the faith and to avoid compromise with paganism, despite the threat of adversity and martyrdom; they are to await patiently the fulfillment of God’s mighty promises. The triumph of God in the world of men and women remains a mystery, to be accepted in faith and longed for in hope. It is a triumph that unfolded in the history of Jesus of Nazareth and continues to unfold in the history of the individual Christian who follows the way of the cross, even, if necessary, to a martyr’s death.

Though the perspective is eschatological—ultimate salvation and victory are said to take place at the end of the present age when Christ will come in glory at the parousia—the book presents the decisive struggle of Christ and his followers against Satan and his cohorts as already over. Christ’s overwhelming defeat of the kingdom of Satan ushered in the everlasting reign of God (Rev 11:15; 12:10). Even the forces of evil unwittingly carry out the divine plan (Rev 17:17), for God is the sovereign Lord of history.

The Book of Revelation had its origin in a time of crisis, but it remains valid and meaningful for Christians of all time. In the face of apparently insuperable evil, either from within or from without, all Christians are called to trust in Jesus’ promise, “Behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Mt 28:20). Those who remain steadfast in their faith and confidence in the risen Lord need have no fear. Suffering, persecution, even death by martyrdom, though remaining impenetrable mysteries of evil, do not comprise an absurd dead end. No matter what adversity or sacrifice Christians may endure, they will in the end triumph over Satan and his forces because of their fidelity to Christ the victor. This is the enduring message of the book; it is a message of hope and consolation and challenge for all who dare to believe.

The author of the book calls himself John (Rev 1:1, 4, 9; 22:8), who because of his Christian faith has been exiled to the rocky island of Patmos, a Roman penal colony. Although he never claims to be John the apostle, whose name is attached to the fourth gospel, he was so identified by several of the early church Fathers, including Justin, Irenaeus, Clement of Alexandria, Tertullian, Cyprian, and Hippolytus. This identification, however, was denied by other Fathers, including Denis of Alexandria, Eusebius of Caesarea, Cyril of Jerusalem, Gregory Nazianzen, and John Chrysostom. Indeed, vocabulary, grammar, and style make it doubtful that the book could have been put into its present form by the same person(s) responsible for the fourth gospel. Nevertheless, there are definite linguistic and theological affinities between the two books. The tone of the letters to the seven churches (Rev 1:4–3:22) is indicative of the great authority the author enjoyed over the Christian communities in Asia. It is possible, therefore, that he was a disciple of John the apostle, who is traditionally associated with that part of the world. The date of the book in its present form is probably near the end of the reign of Domitian (A.D. 81–96), a fierce persecutor of the Christians.

Art Bell Dies At 72

by Armand Vaquer

Back in the 1990s while working the "graveyard shift", the time would pass very quickly whenever Coast-To-Coast AM with Art Bell would have an interesting topic or guest. My mom had told me about Bell's show and I listened regularly to it during that time.

It has been reported this morning that Art Bell passed away at age 72 (ironically, on Friday the 13th).

According to Radio NK:
One of radio’s most successful syndicated hosts has died. Both the Las Vegas Review Journal and NBC TV in Las Vegas are reporting that Art Bell died at his home in Las Vegas on Friday, April 13. The Nye County Sheriff’s Office announced that an autopsy will be done later this week to determine the cause of death.
Bell’s paranormal-themed overnight show, “Coast to Coast AM,” was syndicated on hundreds of stations by Premiere back in the 90’s. He left the show in 2002. He also had a show on SiriusXM in 2013. Bell was 72 years old. Most recently Premiere was syndicating Bell’s show Somewhere In Time which was the best in classic Art Bell shows from 6pm – 10pm on Saturdays.
The article is incorrect as Bell died at his home in Pahrump, Nevada, in Nye County, not in Las Vegas.

Coast to Coast AM continues today with George Noory, but it has never been the same without Bell.

The Tim Burton movie, Mars Attacks!, gave Bell a "tip of the hat" by having the initial meet-up between the Martians and earthlings take place in Pahrump.

Now as I looked at the living beings, behold, there was one wheel on the earth beside the living beings, for each of the four of them. The appearance of the wheels and their workmanship was like sparkling beryl, and all four of them had the same form, their appearance and workmanship being as if one wheel were within another. Whenever they moved, they moved in any of their four directions without turning as they moved.

David Duchovny has called on X-Files fans to stop focusing on Scully’s exit and just enjoy the season

From Screen Rant

With all this drama going down on the show, David Duchovny thinks fans should shift their focus away from Scully’s imminent exit and just try to enjoy X-Files while it lasts. Speaking to PopCulture.com, Duchovny talked about the over-blown discussion about Scully’s fate and the show’s future:

“It’s a little cart before the horse, for me. It’s like, OK, there are issues to deal with or whatever, but let’s talk about the show. Let’s not talk about hypotheticals.

To me, it’s unfortunate that’s kind of like ‘the headline’ because, to me, the headline is: We just made 10 really kick-ass episodes of television, and please enjoy and don’t mourn the death of this show quite yet.”

Duchovny may be frustrated with speculation about the show’s future, but creator Chris Carter doesn’t seem to mind it. Carter recently stoked that speculation himself by suggesting a way X-Files could continue beyond season 11 without Gillian Anderson. Carter admitted he hasn’t seriously considered the possibility of doing X-Files without Anderson. However, he then mentioned the possibility of Scully acting as an “absent center“ in a future season. Speaking on Anderson’s departure, Carter wondered aloud, “It’s the end of something, I don’t know if it’s the beginning of something new.”

Zachary Quinto Goes "In Search Of"

From Variety

History has greenlit the unscripted series “In Search Of” with Zachary Quinto attached as host and executive producer, the cable network announced Tuesday.

Inspired by the iconic 1970s series of the same name, the show will examine unexplained phenomena from all over the world. Each episode will follow Quinto as he investigates a different subject within a dynamic theme – such as alien encounters, mysterious creatures, UFO sightings, time travel and artificial intelligence – and searches for the truth to some of the world’s greatest mysteries. The original “In Search Of” series aired from 1977-1982 and was hosted by Rod Serling and later by Leonard Nimoy following Serling’s death. Ironically, one of Quinto’s most famous roles is playing the younger version of Spock–a character made famous by Nimoy–in the new “Star Trek” film franchise.

“I am so excited to be reimagining ‘In Search Of’ and exploring new questions and phenomena with all of the advancements in science and technology from which we have benefitted in the past forty years since the original series first aired,” said Quinto. “In the spirit of my late dear friend Leonard Nimoy, we intend to honor and perpetuate his endless curiosity about the world – and universe – in which we live. Our director Eddie Schmidt and our partners at Propagate, Universal Television Alternative Studio and FremantleMedia International have ignited the process with enthusiasm and intelligence, and History is the perfect home for this unique and compelling series.”

“In Search Of” is produced for History by Propagate Content, Universal Television Alternative Studio and Before the Door Pictures with FremantleMedia International distributing the series globally. Ben Silverman, Howard Owens and Brett-Patrick Jenkins are executive producers for Propagate Content. Eddie Schmidt is also executive producer. Zachary Behr is executive producer for History.
