It shouldn't come as any surprise that a toy of the "Cloverfield" monster would be surrounded by some sort of mystery. After all movie fans were jerked around for months with endless miss-information about the film, so a bit of miss-direction about the toy seems to be more of the same.
According to Action-Figure.com, the action figure was supposed to be available later this month. The site then posted an announcement that the figure had been discontinued, before it had even been released. The site then updated again saying that it would be released on December 15th. Somebody seems to be confused.
I ask you, is there really a market for this thing? I mean the movie was cool and all, but I thought the monster design was a bit strange. I really don't see myself going out and getting a "Cloverfield" figure to go on the shelf with Godzilla and his pals. Plus if memory serves the thing was scheduled to cost upwards of $30. I think I'll pass on that one.
I honestly believe that the one thing that detracted from "Cloverfield" was the monster itself. It just didn't have the charisma of Godzilla, Gamera, Gorgo or any of Tsuburaya's creations.
