Here is another horrible idea from Hollywood! If "live-action" movie versions of the classic cartoons "The Flintstones" and "Scooby Doo" weren't bad enough? Now movie goers will be subjected to "Tom & Jerry."
Yes, every ones favorite cat and mouse cartoon is being turned into a "live-action" movie.
Sigh........
I just have to wonder what exactly, "live-action" means in this case? Does it mean a CGI animated cat and mouse? or a real cat and a real mouse?
Regardless, this just seems like trouble for many reasons.
First off, "Tom & Jerry" was one of the most violent cartoons to ever be created. I can't imagine that the level of carnage portrayed in the original cartoon series could be executed in a movie adaptation. You don't think that Animal rights groups would let a movie where a cat and mouse try to murder each other for two hours ever reach the theaters do you?
One can only assume that the film makers will want some sort of realism in this one. If not, then they would just make a cartoon movie. How do you think it will go over when Jerry cranks Tom over the head with a broom and his skull splits open like a Gallagher watermelon.
That's going to lead to some trauma for the kiddies....and a record number of lawsuits.
That won't fly.
The only answer is to tone it down.....a hell of a lot.
That my friends would be boring as hell. Nobody wants to see Tom & Jerry making nice.
My prediction......bombs away.
Look I know that "Scooby Doo" and "The Flintstones" made good money, especially overseas, but that didn't mean that they were good movies.
Stop the madness......
