Now that Andy Fickman has scored a hit with "Race to Witch Mountain", Disney has tapped the director to helm "Monster Attack Network", a "Men in Black" style action-comedy that will feature giant monsters instead of aliens.
"Monster Attack Network" is a re-working of the 2007 graphic novel, by the same name, that takes the action from a remote Pacific island, and moves it to America, where a top-secret organization protects us, Joe-schmo citizens, from monster attacks.
The effects-heavy project is set to be produced by Jason Netter from a script written by Scott Elder and Josh Harmon.
Does this one kinda sound familiar? Well, if you are a fan of Japanese monster movies, it should. The Heisei Godzilla films featured the anti-monster unit known as "G-Force", which was part of the JSDF. "G-Force" was created to protect Japan from "Big G" and his pals using all sorts of exotic weapons including two robot versions of Godzilla known as "MechaGodzilla."
Isn't it interesting that as soon as Toho stopped making giant monster films, just about everyone else in the movie business started?
