Why the Albuquerque Freedom 4th Festival Is a Can’t-Miss Event in 2025

If you’re looking for a fantastic way to celebrate the Fourth of July, you won’t want to miss Albuquerque’s Freedom 4th Festival! Whether you're new to the Duke City or a long-time resident of New Mexico, this event is a must-see. The festival transforms Balloon Fiesta Park into a vibrant display of red, white, and blue, offering a day packed with fun activities for everyone.

From 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., thousands of attendees gather to enjoy kid-friendly games, delicious local food from various vendors, a Microbrew Garden, and live music throughout the day. The grand finale is an incredible fireworks display that lights up the night sky, making it truly “the state’s brightest fireworks event!”

You’ll find an array of festivities, including nationally recognized musical acts and unique handcrafted products from local businesses. Kids will love face painting, inflatable bounce houses, a rock-climbing wall, and more!

To keep everyone safe, the city has set some guidelines. You’re welcome to bring folding chairs, service animals, umbrellas, tents, coolers, and strollers into the park. However, keep in mind that items like alcoholic beverages, glass containers, drug paraphernalia, weapons, BBQ grills, pets, and personal fireworks are not allowed. Following these rules will help ensure that everyone has a wonderful time and that the celebration is unforgettable for all.

While the event itself is free, do be prepared for potential parking fees. As a convenient option, free shuttle buses provided by ABQ Ride will be running from Cottonwood Mall in northwest Albuquerque and Coronado Center in uptown from around 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with return trips kicking off right after the fireworks. Enjoy your Independence Day at the Freedom 4th Festival!
