Join us for the vibrant and festive **Día de los Muertos** celebration at the Historic Lincoln site on **November 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM**! This marks the 11th annual town celebration of the Day of the Dead, a cherished tradition honoring the Mexican settlers who played a pivotal role in shaping our community.This year, the Lincoln Historic Site is thrilled to join in the festivities, bringing a day filled with live music, delicious food vendors, and stunning altars crafted by local community members. As you wander through the historic town, you’ll be immersed in the rich heritage and spirited atmosphere of this special day, celebrating life and remembrance.
Lincoln itself is steeped in history, famously known for its connections to one of the most turbulent times in New Mexico’s past. Visitors will have the chance to explore the iconic **Old Lincoln County Courthouse**, where captivating museum exhibits reveal the gripping stories of the Lincoln County War and the fascinating history of this site, which has served as a store, a residence, a Masonic Lodge, a courthouse, and a jail.
Imagine walking in the footsteps of legends like **Billy the Kid** and **Pat Garrett**, traversing the grounds where significant events of 1878 unfolded. The preserved atmosphere of the **Tunstall Store** alongside the Courthouse takes you back to the 19th century, allowing you to experience the Wild West like never before.
Best of all, admission to the festival is absolutely free, making it a perfect outing for everyone! However, to delve into the historic site buildings, a regular admission fee of **$7 for adults** applies, while children 16 and younger, NM disabled veterans, NM foster families, and members of MNMF and Friends of Lincoln can enjoy free entry.
