Our family loves illusionists, and last night we were thrilled to catch Josh Farley's show at the Huckleberry Brewing Company in Alexandria, Louisiana, as part of his 50 States in 50 Weeks Tour. We were fortunate to secure exclusive VIP tickets (which I highly recommend if you plan to see one of his future shows!) that allowed us to enjoy a private meet-and-greet and an up-close performance with Josh.
First and foremost, Josh is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He is passionate about his craft and loves to share his story with others. He spent around 45 minutes with a small group of us, discussing his life and career, as well as a bit about the history of illusionists. It was truly a magical experience (See what I did there).
In case you haven't heard of Josh Farley, he is an internationally known illusionist who has appeared on both Penn & Teller's show "Fool Us" and "Masters of Illusion." Because the venue was smaller, both the VIP experience and his actual show felt even more special. He performed a scaled-down version of his act, which made the whole experience more personal.
Writing a review for a show like this is challenging because while I want to describe the illusions Josh performed, I also don't want to spoil anything for you. It’s a bit like trying to compose a review of "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" before its release and revealing that Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father (I assume that you already know that; if not, you probably wouldn't watch the movie anyway). Just to clarify, Josh is in no way related to anyone in the Skywalker family. So, let me emphasize: NO SPOILERS. I strongly encourage you to simply see Josh's show!
I will share this: Josh is a master of card tricks. He performed several during the show, and even sitting just ten feet away, I couldn't catch on to anything he did—he truly fooled me! My daughter and son-in-law were on stage with Josh, mere feet away, and they were just as baffled by his tricks. As I said, he is a top-tier illusionist, and what he did blew all of our minds!
Josh will be touring again soon, after this winter storm passes, performing in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and California. Be sure to keep an eye out for one of his shows near you! For a full list of his upcoming performances, please check out Josh's website: https://www.joshfarley.com.
