Scarlett Johansson Takes On Xena Type Role

Boxum actress, Scarlett Johansson has just signed to play a female gladiatrix in the upcoming action film "Amazon."

In the film Johansson will play a female gladiator bent on revenge after her homeland is ravaged by an invading army. Reportedly her character will be a one woman fighting machine, similar to the Xena character made famous by Lucy Lawless, who takes on an entire army by herself.

Undoubtedly male film goers will delight in seeing the sexy actress in tight leather, but Johansson has doubts that she fits the "Amazon" mold, "I think I'm supposed to be a gladiatrix. These film guys are crazy about gladiatrixes. But do I fit the mould? I'm a Danish/Jewish girl from New York."

Although the starlet may feel that she is a bit 'out of water' playing a gladiatrix, she is comfortable taking on an action role, "I've done weapons training. I've fired all kinds of guns; 9mm semi-automatics, machine guns, shotguns. I've jumped off a 60-foot building. I learnt to ride for The Horse Whisperer. But I've never done a full-on action role."

"I guess I'm still waiting for my Cirque du Soleil moment. It would be fun."

Will Scarlett Johansson become the next big female action star? I'm sure the guys out there are on their knees praying it comes true.

  1. yeah cause Barb Wire, Catwoman, Electra and Aeon Flux did such great things for their stars....ScarJo is the girl next door, not Emma Peel, and if fanboys wanna jerk off to Xena they will in their own basements not in the cinema. See the above flops for proof of that...
