Black Widow: Excitement Starting To Build

From Geek Tyrant

Marvel Studio is in full on script development mode for Scarlett Johansson's long-awaited Black Widow movie! To catch up on all that news, click here. One thing is for sure, and that is that fans are excited about what is going to come of this. Now the directors of Avengers: Infinity War have commented on the news, and if you're curious about what they are thinking, Anthony Russo told the Happy Sad Confused podcast that it's "crazy exciting" and Joe Russo added:

"Yeah, we're very happy for that. I mean it's such a rich and interesting character. There's so much to explore with a character whose history was as a villain, and you know, Scarlett does such a good job of playing that character and people are so used to that character that you forget the character's history, and so there's a lot of compelling stories to tell about someone who has a dark past."

Black Widow: Is that love, Agent Romanoff?

From The Wrap

Marvel Studios has picked Blacklist Screenwriter Jac Schaeffer to write “Black Widow,” the first solo film featuring the marvel superhero played since 2010 by Scarlett Johansson, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Schaeffer made her feature screenwriting debut with the 2009 Tribeca film “TiMER,” which she also directed. She wrote the 2014 Blacklist pick “The Shower,” a female-centric sci-fi action comedy with Anne Hathaway attached to star and produce, as well as “Nasty Women,” a remake of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” at MGM set to star Hathaway and Rebel Wilson. Schaeffer most recently penned the Disney short “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure,” which played before screenings of Pixar’s “Coco.”

Black Widow first debuted in 2010’s “Iron Man 2” and since then has appeared in both “Avengers” films as well as “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Captain America: Civil War.” She’ll also be seen in this year’s “Avengers: Infinity War.” Interest in a standalone outing for the character has consistently been high, with a 2016 Fandago poll finding “Black Widow” the top pick for the Avenger fans most want to see in a solo film.

Jonathan Glazer is the man who brought the world Sexy Beast, the surfing horses Guinness advert and music video for Thom Yorke and Unkle's 'Rabbit In Your Headlights'. He's also the man currently in Venice showing his new film, Under The Skin, and in celebration of that fact, here is a teaser clip where you can see Scarlett Johansson doing something slightly different to her work in, say, The Avengers. brightcove.createExperiences();Based on the sci-fi of the same name by Michel Faber, it sees Johansson as a human-like alien sent to earth to prey on hitchhikers in Scotland. Her job is to take them back to other aliens so that they can be fattened up and feasted upon, though in the film version it may not be as simple as that. It is not, it's safe to say, the feel-good hit of the autumn. In fact, you're best off ...

It was already a forgone conclusion that busty actress Scarlett Johansson would be poured into the vinyl once again to reprise her role as the Black Widow in the upcoming "Avengers" movie. What was not expected were Marvel Studios' plans to give the actress her own superhero franchise.

Marvel has just announced that after the release of "The Avengers" in 2012, Johansson and her sexy superspy character will be given their own series of films.

Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, announced at a press event this week, "We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts, but "The Avengers" comes first."

As most of you know, Johansson made quite a splash playing the Black Widow this past summer in "Iron Man 2" and will join Robert Downey, Jr., Samuel L. Jackson and Mark Ruffalo in "The Avengers"

The curvy actress is reportedly ecstatic about playing the character again, and she feels more than ready to the role to the next level in a solo outing, remarking, "(I) would be happy to don the cat suit again and, you know, carry the torch"

The First Look At Scarlett Johansson As The Black Widow In Iron Man 2

Entertainment Weekly magazine has scored the very first images from "Iron Man 2", including the very first shots of Scarlett Johansson as The Black Widow. The Photos are part of a special "Comic-Con" issue that hits newsstands tomorrow.

Here is the skinny on Johansson's character from the issue:

Adding more flesh and blood to the new movie, Scarlett Johansson joined the cast as Stark’s mysterious new assistant, Natasha, who has an alter ego of her own, Black Widow. That introduction inevitably sparks romantic tension between Stark and former assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), who’s been promoted to CEO of Stark Industries. "The men want it to be, like, 'Ooh, the girls are fighting over Tony,' but it's not as standard as that," says Paltrow. "There's a weird male catfight fantasy. Downey agrees. He believes what differentiates the franchise from other superhero series can be summarized as follows: "We're horny. Not, like, can't-bring-your-kids horny, but just…horny."

I have to admit that Scarlett looks pretty good as The Black Widow, maybe not as hot as she did in "The Spirit".....okay let's cut through the bull, she looks hot no matter what. She could be wearing a ton of horse dung and we guys would be climbing over each other to sneak a look.

Scarlett Johansson As The Sexy Bride Of Frankenstein?

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: WENN / Dread Central / Avery Guerra

The Bride of Frankenstein has been the subject of numerous erotic photographs and illustrations for decades, but when it comes right down to it, how beautiful, or sexy, would a woman who was assembled from the parts of different, deceased, women be? Honestly?

Well, apparently Universal and Neil Burger think that the answer is, very beautiful and very sexy.

Indeed Universal has hired Burger to both write and direct a remake of the 1935 horror classic "The Bride of Frankenstein" and already there is a list of potential actresses being mentioned for the title role. Well, just two actresses have been named so far, Scarlett Johansson and Anne Hathaway.

Now, granted if any scientist with his salt wanted to assemble a woman, he would probably want her to look like either Johansson or Hathaway, but pulling it off would be quite a different story.

Come on, we aren't talking "Weird Science" here.....this is "The Bride of Frankenstein".

Beautiful sexy women don't just come in a kit........but wouldn't that be something?

Wait, I'm off track.

An anonymous source told the New York Post, "She'll be young. They're looking for a person with great power and sex appeal. Someone along the lines of Scarlett Johansson or Anne Hathaway."

Power? Sex Appeal? Those aren't words I normally associate with the mate of the monster.

Burger had been working on the thriller "Dark Fields" for Universal, which is presently in a state of flux after it's star, Shia LaBeouf , left the film last year.

If you could build your own woman.....would she look like this?

Barbarella Is On Again, Off Again, On Again?

Written By: Ken Hulsey

Sometimes film makers just don't know when to give up. They keep trying to get a film made no matter how many obstacles are thrown in their path. They continue on, when most people would throw in the towel and walk away. Such is the case with the much maligned remake of the 1968 cult classic "Barbarella." The film has gone through, now, three directors, two leading ladies, faced financial troubles and has had to move shooting locations from the US to Germany. Obviously, there is a big red flag associated with this one, yet people still insist on pushing forward with the project.

Now, after director Robert Rodriguez had his fill with the project, yet another film maker, Robert Luketic (Legally Blonde, Monster-in-Law), has jumped in to yet once again resurrect "Barbarella."

It is assumed that Luketic will simply take the production over from where Rodriquez left off.

News of a remake of "Barbarella" first surfaced in April of 2007, when producer Dino De Laurentiis had secured the rights to the film. At the time De Laurentiis had tapped director Peter Webber to head the project and "Casino Royale" writers Robert Wade and Neal Purvis to pen the screenplay.

The actress that they had lined up to play the sexy, space-hoping heroin Barbarella was none other than Scarlett Johansson.....or so the rumors were at the time.

By August of 2007 Webber and Johansson were out and Robert Rodriguez was in. The new director came under almost immediate scrutiny, when he announced that he had cast his girlfriend, Rose McGowan, as the lead. Studio executives scoffed at the idea of having the actress take on a title role after her last film, "Grindhouse", failed at the box office. The director's rock solid stance on McGowan lead to many a conflict between himself and the brass at Universal Studios, which eventually lead to them pulling their $100 million backing of the film.

After that Rodriguez spent the better part of a year looking for another studio and financial backing for "Barbarella." Eventually the director would find a taker, in Germany, but ultimately Rodriguez didn't want to make the film overseas, so he walked away from it.

Just before he washed his hands of the project Rodriguez told MTV, "We had all this artwork and screen tests of what it would look like. It was a really cool, R-rated, sexy version of a Star Wars movie... It was gonna be really great."

With both Rodriguez and McGowan now removed from "Barbarella" it is possible that the pair will begin production on the remake of "Red Sonja", which was announced last year.

Marvel Movie News - Johansson Is The Black Widow - Movies Pushed Back To 2011

Written By: Ken Hulsey

It appears that Marvel Entertainment is making some big moves to ensure that they own the box office for the next two years. First they cast one of Hollywood's sexiest stars as a popular villain, then they move several films back a year to monopolize the summer of 2011.

First things first. It seems that Scarlett Johansson has been popping up in the news a lot as of late. Just last week ago it was revealed that the buxom beauty would be taking on a "Xena-like" role in the upcoming action film, "Amazon", now news has surfaced that she will play the Black Widow in the next "Iron Man" film.

Recently a scheduling conflict forced actress Emily Blunt to turn down the role of the Black Widow, opening the door for Johansson to be cast as the popular villain.

As it stands now, "Iron Man 2" will boast a truly 'all-star' cast, which already includes such names as Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow , Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke (who just joined the cast to play the villain Whiplash) and now Johansson.

As it stands, "Iron Man 2" is scheduled to be released in 2010......well maybe?

This leads right into the part about the re-scheduling of some of the upcoming films based on Marvel Comics heroes.

Reports coming out of Marvel Entertainment these days, point to studio possibly moving "Iron Man 2" back, yet another year, to be released in the summer of 2011 alongside "The First Avenger: Captain America", "Thor" and "Spider-Man 4".

Likewise, Marvel has reportedly moved the release of "The Avengers", featuring Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, The Hulk and Captain America to the summer of 2012.

If indeed Marvel moves "Iron Man 2" to the summer of 2011 to go along with the other three films scheduled for that time period, they may very well own the box office. Then again, maybe too many superhero films at one time may lead to low numbers for each film. Too much of good thing can be a bad thing sometimes and Marvel may be wise to rethink putting all their eggs in one basket.

We will have to see if the gamble pays off.
