We all know that Hollywood is absolutely ga ga over comic book movies, but normally for ones that have established fan followings, not for comics that still haven't been published yet. Death Ray Films is bucking that trend in scooping up the movie rights to Kevin Grevioux's Darkstorm title, "I, Frankenstein", before single issue had hit the shelves.
Death Ray has signed Grevioux to write the script and Patrick Tatopoulos to direct the film, which will feature Frankenstein in the unusual role of a private detective. The Invisible Man, Dracula and the Hunchback of Notre Dame will also be making an appearance in not-so-familiar roles. Dracula is a kingpin of crime, and the Invisible Man is a secret operative (Makes sense!). No word yet what part the Hunchback will play.
It appears that if superheroes playing detective worked well in "Watchmen" then classic movie monsters playing cops and robbers should work in "I, Frankenstein." Shouldn't it?

Hey Ken,
ReplyDeleteThe formula of classic characters and literary figures in not-so-familiar roles worked well in "The League of Extraordinary Gentleman".
