Even though it hasn't officially been announced yet, news has leaked out that Minoru Kawasaki's monster of a political satire movie, ""Guilala-no Gyakushuu Touyaku Samitto Kiki
Ippatsu" (Guilala's (Girara's)Counter Attack: The Lake Toya Summit Crisis), will screen at this years Cannes Film Festival . At this time there is no official schedule, and it is unknown exactly when the movie will be shown. Cannes promises to have a complete schedule up, with an official synopsis and photos, the first week of may.
Here is what we know about the film so far:
"In the summer of 2008, the G8 summit is being held at Lake Toya, a beautiful resort near the volcano in Hokkaido. At the same time, the Chinese rocket falls into Japan, causing the monster to be born from the spore attached to the rocket. The monster, Guilala, moves toward the summit conference site for the pursuit of volcanic energy. Now the world leaders have to terminate Guilala to show their country's prestige. First mission is missile attack by Japan, then Italy, Germany and... Deadly combat between human beings and the monster from outer space continues, but just when everyone starts to give up, two journalists finds a strange group worshiping the traditional "idol" at the lakeside."

ReplyDeleteHere is the official program for Cannes festival . Nothing about "Guilala's counter attack" .
However sometimes some sequence from unfinished movies are shown at Cannes to promote them ....it may be the case for Guilala 2 .
