Horror movie goddess, Suzi Lorraine, will be very busy on both sides of the camera when she serves as assistant director and star of the upcoming horror comedy, "Won Ton Baby." A movie inspired by the 70s and 80s classics, "Rosemary's Baby", "It's Alive" and most importantly "Basket Case."
The idea for the film came directly from Lorraine who drew inspiration from the prior horror films and an interesting actual medical condition.
Lorraine explains, "It's a story idea I came up with that is based on my love of the 80s film "Basket Case" and also the medical condition known as "fetus infetu". It happens when twins are developing in utero , and one envelops the other. One of the eggs does not develop properly, and ends up being a parasite to the other healthy twin. The parasite, when removed, is often nothing more than a pygmy looking half human/half monster with a patch of long hair and juxtaposed "features", if any. I found this so fascinating that it inspired me."
The film's writer and director, James Morgart (Who also directed the short film "Legend of Suzi") took Lorraine's idea a ran with it, composing a story that would combine both the elements of horror and comedy.
The plot may sound rather gruesome, but Lorraine is quick to point out that the film is mostly a comedy. "It's a story about a broken family who have good intentions are are trying to make an honest living and make ends meet. The mom, Madame Won Ton, played by Debbie (Rochon), turned her illustrious brothel into a proper Chinese restaurant. The whole family is oblivious to the fact that one of the daughters, Little Wing, has a bizarre growth protruding from her belly. While Little Wing is sweet and kind, her classmates mock the deformity, and hurl insults at her on a regular basis. Soon enough, the growth starts causing some trouble, and Little Wing is swept off to the emergency room. A half human/half monster "baby" is removed from her belly, and proceeds to live a very peculiar existence. The Chinese "baby", aptly named "Won Ton Baby!" proves to be a small killing machine, in the body of a midget sumo wrestler meets Elvis Presley impersonator. Much to the family's chagrin, Won Ton goes on a killing rampage in his eternal quest for blood and tasty meat."
I have to admit that the plot that Suzi has dreamt up doesn't sound all that funny, it actually sounds kinda tragic, but if she says its going to be a laugh riot, then I trust her.
As Suzi said the film is set to star femme fatal Debbie Rochon and also Gunnar Hansen who played Leatherface in "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre." Two proven horror icons which will add star power to Suzi's movie.
Filming is set to take place during May and June, with a release date to be announced later.
