Famed movie producer Robert Evans is set to team with ITV Global to make a movie based on the 70s UK television series "UFO". The producer recently purchased the rights to the series, which was created by Gerry Anderson, the man behind "Thunderbirds." Evans presently has a deal in place with Paramount, through The Robert Evans Co, so the studio will have the first crack at producing the film.
Evans will serve as producer along with Avi Haas and Henri M. Kessler. Ryan Gaudet and Joseph Kanarek are combining talents on the script.
The original series was set in 1980, but Evans plans to move that date forward to 2020 for his film.
"UFO" centers around SHADO (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organization) a secret organization that was set up to protect Earth against aliens who harvest humans for their body parts.
Evans told Variety, "We know the importance of the 'UFO' series brand to ITV Global, and we will work closely with them to build this into a franchise."
This news should come to the delite of fans around the globe. "UFO" has always had a strong 'cult' following here in America.
