Explore the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles

  • Griffith Observatory's unique architecture and setting, compelling programmatic offerings, and cinematic exposure have made it one of the most famous and visited landmarks in southern California. Tens of millions have come to walk the inside of the building, view the live planetarium shows, or simply gaze out towards the coast and the heavens. This cultural and scientific icon owes its existence to the dream of one man, Griffith Jenkins Griffith, and to the dedicated scientists and public servants who worked to fulfill his vision of making astronomy and observation accessible to all.

The Greatest Hamburger In America - Blake's Lotaburger Review

  • Blake's culinary greatness extends well beyond their acclaimed green chile cheeseburger, which has captivated the taste buds of explorers and nature photographers alike. Their fries are also exceptional, and I would pit their breakfast burrito against any other contender - with the possible exception of the legendary offerings once sold at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Those were truly something special.

America's Best Rock Station

America's Best Rock Station

91X - XETRA-FM 91.1 FM San Diego | The Original Cutting Edge of Rock

  • 91X has had a long and fascinating history dating back to 1978. At that time, the station was a straightforward rock station, playing music from bands like Led Zeppelin and KISS. Though the station itself was located in Tijuana, Mexico, its content was recorded in studios in San Diego and transported across the border multiple times a day. 91X was known as a "border blaster" - one of many Mexico-based stations that aimed their signals at San Diego and the greater Southern California region, reaching as far as Riverside County.

Own Your Emotions - Lead Your Emotions

  • Owning and leading our emotions is a critical skill for achieving emotional maturity and living a happy, fulfilling life. Our emotions are powerful forces that can either propel us forward or hold us back, depending on how well we manage them. It's all too easy to let our emotions run wild, blaming our circumstances or other people for how we feel. But the truth is, we are ultimately responsible for our own emotional state.

Star Trek: The Animated Series (1973-1975)

  • Star Trek: The Animated Series, originally titled Star Trek and The Animated Adventures of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek, continued the voyages of the USS Enterprise following the original live-action show. NBC's interest in reviving Star Trek came after they discovered, through their updated Nielsen rating system, that the original series had actually been one of their most successful shows, particularly with their coveted male 18-45 demographic. This realization came too late, as Paramount had already cleared out most production assets, making a live-action revival cost-prohibitive at approximately $750,000. Instead, NBC commissioned an animated version.

California's Mysterious Monsters

California's Mysterious Monsters

The Borrego Sandman (1939 - Present)

  • It may come as a surprise that the legendary monster is also a desert dweller. As hard as it may be to fathom, there are many reports from the vast deserts of Southern California of Sasquatch-like creatures roaming the sand, much like they do in the lush forest. These very dry areas with little vegetation and almost no water supply would seem like the last place that a 6-to-10-foot-tall animal that weighs upwards of 400 pounds—and is covered with thick fur—would want to call home. Yet, the sheer number of Bigfoot sightings in these areas is too numerous to ignore.
