Rams Survive "Windy City Miracle" And Defeat The Bears 20-17 in Overtime!

 Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay shot knowing glances at each other, then went to work on the drive that got the Los Angeles Rams one step away from the Super Bowl.

Stafford and the Rams survived an incredible throw by Caleb Williams that forced overtime, beating the Chicago Bears 20-17 on Sunday night to advance to the NFC championship game.

Harrison Mevis kicked a 42-yard field goal in OT after Kam Curl intercepted a deep pass by Williams on the Bears’ first possession of the extra period. Stafford glanced at his coach prior to the winning drive, then completed three passes for first downs — including a 16-yarder to Puka Nacua to get the Rams into field-goal range.

To prepare for the playoffs, the Los Angeles Rams dressed their starters for a relatively meaningless regular-season finale against an opponent that hadn’t won in two months.


However, the Rams didn't appear ready for this modest test; they found themselves trailing the Arizona Cardinals late in the third quarter on Sunday. It was at this point that the Rams made a dynamic late surge, one they hope to replicate on a larger scale during the upcoming weeks.

Nucua, Corum and Stafford Go Off in Rams 45-17 Blowout of Cardinals

Matthew Stafford dominated on the field before being serenaded with “M-V-P!” chants off of it, soaking in some locker room praise from teammates after another stellar performance that led his Los Angeles Rams to a 45-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

The 37-year-old quarterback has rarely looked better in his 17-year NFL career.

It’s a big reason why the Rams look like one of the best teams in the league.

Lobos to Face Minnesota in 2025 Rate Bowl in Phoenix

The University of New Mexico, which went 9-3 overall and 6-2 in the Mountain West, tying for first place, was selected to play the University of Minnesota in the Rate Bowl in Phoenix, Arizona. The Rate Bowl will be played on Friday, December 26, at 2:30 pm Mountain Time at Chase Field, the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Although Matthew Stafford threw touchdown passes on the Los Angeles Rams’ first three drives against Tampa Bay, he was even more excited by teammate Cobie Durant’s electrifying interception return for a TD, raising his hand atop his head as a makeshift fin to salute the cornerback who calls himself the Land Shark.

By the time Stafford’s third TD pass hit Davante Adams’ hands, he was hearing loud “M-V-P! M-V-P!” chants from the biggest crowd in SoFi Stadium history.

Rams Outlast Seahawks In Defensive Battle In Los Angeles 22-19

Stafford set an NFL record with his third straight game with at least four TD passes and no interceptions and Los Angeles beat the San Francisco 49ers 42-26 on Sunday for a fourth straight victory.

This marked a historic milestone for the Lobos, as it was their first win against a Big Ten opponent. Quarterback Jack Layne also shined, throwing for 152 yards and tossing two touchdown passes. Running backs D.J. McKinney and Scottre Humphrey each added their own rushing touchdowns, showcasing the Lobos' offensive brilliance. With this win, New Mexico (2-1) not only took down a powerhouse from a major conference but also achieved a feat not seen since they bested Arizona—then a member of the Pac-10—back on September 13, 2008.

As the Third Quarter was winding down this afternoon at University Stadium, it seemed like the new Lobo football coach had gotten the memo. Traditionally, the team would start strong, get fans excited, and then follow that up with a heartbreaking collapse—often losing in spectacular fashion. This pattern, unfortunately, has been part of the New Mexico Lobo Football legacy for many years. However, as the fourth quarter kicked off, something felt different. The Lobos appeared determined to actually secure a win this time around.
