Dynamite Entertainment proudly announces that they have acquired the rights to publish comic books based on the beloved science fiction anime, Robotech®. In a unique sub-licensing arrangement with DC Entertainment and with the Harmony Gold USA, Dynamite Entertainment will publish a new series beginning with a Robotech / Voltron crossover event. This crossover marks the first time uniting the popular Robotech cast with the five lions of Voltron, a fan-favorite World Events Production property.

The Robotech series debuted in 1985, an adaptation combining concepts from three Japanese anime series (Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Genesis Climber Mospeada, and Super Dimension Century Southern Cross) into a new, cohesive narrative. It followed three generations of Earth soldiers who salvaged and repurposed alien technology in combat against consecutive extraterrestrial invasions, and was animated by the renowned animation studio Tatsunoko Production Co.

Voltron, based on the story of five robotic lions piloted by a team of brave space explorers that combine to form a mighty metallic hero, launched in the U.S. in September of 1984 and quickly became a #1 rated animated series that will celebrate its 30th Anniversary in 2014.

"Robotech and Voltron are two of the most recognizable anime series that defined '80s pop culture," says Tommy Yune, creative director at Harmony Gold and mastermind behind the upcoming crossover. "Both franchises have endured in their popularity today and fans have long speculated of an epic crossover between the universes. The new Robotech / Voltron team-up adds additional content to Dynamite's existing Voltron projects, published as two series thus far and expanding the mythos licensed from World Events Productions. The first-ever pairing of these two giant animated properties is expected to attract huge media and fan attention in time for Voltron's 30th Anniversary. A new Robotech series will follow in the wake of the crossover.

The appreciation for the original Robotech television series, its comic spin-offs, and expansive universe of additional content runs deep at Dynamite, as evidenced by the passionate reflections of Joe Rybandt, the company's Senior Editor. "Every day after school, I would watch Robotech and I loved it. LOVED IT. Probably for a lot of the same reasons that I loved Claremont's Uncanny X-Men, in that it was soap opera mixed with incredible action and excitement. Vintage Robotech Rand Action Figure

Action figures in the 3.75 inches (95 mm) size of the three Robotech generations were initially released in 1985 by Matchbox toy company, but then reissued in 1992 by Harmony Gold (Lunk and Corg were only released by Matchbox and Lynn Minmei was only released by Harmony Gold). Each included a weapon and helmet where appropriate. Matchbox also released 6 inches (150 mm) figures of Zentraedi characters from the first generation. These figures were supposed to represent the size difference between the Humans and the giant Zentraedi forces, but to be correct these figures would had to have been made about 20 inches (510 mm) tall. None of the larger figures came with weapons but the Armored Zentraedi came with a removable helmet.

Also many toys depicting the vehicles and mecha from the series were released by Matchbox in 1985, Harmony Gold in 1992 and Playmates in 1994 (under the Exosquad line). There were major differences in packaging, toy stickers and colors between the different releases. The vehicles were designed to be used only with the 3 3/4 inch figures. The SDF-1 Playset was only released under the Matchbox line in the 80s and could be used with both the 3 3/4 and 6 inch figures.

Following on the heels of a series of standing room-only voice acting workshops at the recent 2008 New York Anime Festival, Bang Zoom! Entertainment, a leading full-service audio post production company and producer of original entertainment content, has announced an intensive one-day voice acting workshop taking place at the company’s own studios in Burbank, CA on Saturday, October 18th.

The session will be led by renowned voice actor and director Tony Oliver and will offer attendees in-depth instruction on every major component of voice acting including character development, basic acting skills, and how to use and project the voice with a variety of emotions. Bang Zoom Launches A Series Of Workshops For Voice Actors

Entertainment, a leading full-service audio post production company and producer of original entertainment content, announced the success of its series of special workshops for aspiring voice actors which took place at the recent Anime Expo® 2008. Anime Expo is the nation’s largest anime and manga convention.
