Top Summer Events You Can't Miss in San Diego

 Press Release

What’s New in San Diego, Summer 2025

New Hotels and Renovations

After more than six years, the Hotel Del Coronado is set to unveil its $550 million renovation this June. This project encompasses the historic Victorian building, its garden courtyard, and event spaces, as well as two new dining destinations: an all-day dining restaurant, Veranda, and Nobu del Coronado.

Baby Grand, the second hotel by hospitality group CH Projects, is set to open on Coronado’s Orange Avenue. The $17 million project will feature 31 rooms and three new restaurant concepts. The design will thematically reference the area’s coastal setting paired with CH Projects’ signature maximalism, striving to progress the social landscape of San Diego’s distinctive neighborhoods and cultures.

91X - XETRA-FM 91.1 FM San Diego | America's Best Rock Station | The Original Cutting Edge of Rock

Written By Ken Hulsey

This has been a profoundly sentimental week for me. It all started when I discovered that an old friend from my church congregation used to live in my hometown of Whittier, California. Before the first service, I found myself reminiscing about the local landmarks with her, which stirred up a deep sense of homesickness. From that point on, everything I encountered seemed to trigger memories of my California roots. It probably doesn't help that I frequently wander around Louisiana wearing my Dodgers baseball cap.

Star Trek's Enterprise to boldly go ... to San Diego?

From U-T San Diego

Suddenly San Diego is the final frontier.

SDSU is trying to build a real "trirecorder." UCSD is holding a symposium in May to answer the question: "Is this the century we begin to build starships?" (Spoiler: Duh.)

And now a replica of the Starship Enterprise may be landing in San Diego next year.

The news was first beamed up by Space.com, which reports a display version of the bridge from television's "Star Trek: The Next Generation" is being refurbished by a group called New Starship. (No word on whether their theme song is "We Built This ... Copy.")

Here's what space.com contributor Elizabeth Howell wrote:

Nothing's confirmed yet, but organizer Huston Huddleston said he is in talks with the San Diego Air & Space Museum to bring the bridge there in the middle of 2014. It will remain there for a year, the plan goes, before possibly hitting the road for other locations.
