Legendary Is Teaming With Netflix To Finally Move Forward With A Live-Action Gundam Movie!

Legendary Pictures is finally moving forward with the long-awaited Gundam movie project, which was first announced at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles back in 2018. Since then, the project has gone through multiple script revisions and changes in directors. Despite these challenges, the studio remained committed to producing a live-action Gundam film. Recently, it was announced that Legendary has secured a release platform through Netflix, a company known for adapting Japanese anime into live-action, with "Cowboy Bebop" being a notable example. Indie director Jim Mickle, who directed the acclaimed TV series "Sweet Tooth," is set to helm the project, which will feature actors Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo. It is still unclear whether the Gundam movie will be given a theatrical release or will premiere directly on streaming.

New Ultraman Animated Series Coming To Netflix In 2019

I only hope this one is better than the boring Godzilla anime ...

The full 3-D CG anime adaptation of the “Ultraman” manga series will be streamed worldwide on Netflix in spring 2019, it was revealed during the Anime Expo 2018 held in Los Angeles.

A star-studded production team comprising anime creators working on a global scale has been assembled to create a “never-before-seen Ultraman” for the upcoming series.

Kenji Kamiyama, whose previous works include the “Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex” series and feature film “Ancien and the Magic Tablet,” serves as co-director with Shinji Aramaki, who created the “Appleseed” film series and CG movie “Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars.”

Boasting more than 2.8 million copies in print, the original comic series is currently running in the monthly Hero’s manga anthology. Penned by Eiichi Shimizu and illustrated by Tomohiro Shimoguchi, who together created the “Linebarrels of Iron” manga series, “Ultraman” centers around a superhero dressed in the metallic suit to fight evil forces.

The manga is inspired by a classic live-action superhero TV series of the same name featuring the gigantic superhero that protects humans from aliens and monsters.

The “Ultraman” series is being produced by Production I.G Inc. and Sola Digital Arts Inc.

Monty Python may have ceased to be as a comedy troupe, but pretty much all of its back catalog is coming to Netflix.

According to the official Monty Python website, much-loved films including Life of Brian and The Holy Grail, plus The Meaning of Life, the Flying Circus TV series, live shows including the most recent Monty Python Live (Mostly) from 2014 and even Eric Idle's What About Dick?, will be available on Netflix U.K from April 15, and on Netflix U.S. later in the year.

This isn't Monty Python first dalliance with streaming, however. In 2016, BuzzFeed live-streamed The Holy Grail on Facebook.

The First Trailer For 'Lost In Space' Reboot Hits The Mark

Netflix has ordered a 10-episode first season of the one-hour sci-fi drama, from Legendary TV, based on the beloved 1960’s sci-fi classic from Irwin Allen. Reimagined by feature writing team Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold, Last Witch Hunter), with Zack Estrin (Prison Break) showrunning, the series will premiere worldwide.

Taking its cues from the original series, the show centers around the Robinson family, who is forced to come together in a time of crisis. Stranded light years from their intended destination, they find themselves battling a strange new alien environment and also their own personal demons. Equal parts family drama and sci-fi adventure, it is a survival story for the ages.



“The original series so deftly captured both drama and comedy, and that made it very appealing to a broad audience. The current creative team’s reimagining of the series for Netflix is sure to appeal to both fans who fondly remember the original and to create a new generation of enthusiasts around the world,” said Cindy Holland, Netflix Vice President of Original Content.

Zack Estrin serves as executive producer alongside writers Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless; Synthesis Entertainment’s Kevin Burns (The Curse of Oak Island, Ancient Aliens) and Jon Jashni (Godzilla, Pacific Rim); and Applebox’s Emmy®-nominated director Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, The Descent) and Marc Helwig. Marshall is also set to direct several episodes of the series. Lost in Space is a Legendary TV production for Netflix.
