Win Tickets to the Justice League: Throne of Atlantis Premiere

From DC Comics

For the newly united Justice League, the biggest threat comes not from within our world, but deep beneath the waves. In Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, an Atlantean warmonger declares the surface world his enemy, raising an undersea army with one purpose—to wipe out humankind. The key to defeating him? Arthur Curry, a drifter with powerful ties to Atlantis who may just become the Justice League’s best hope of victory… and their newest member.

The latest animated feature in the popular series of DC Universe Original Movies, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis introduces Aquaman to the team that debuted in last year’s Justice League: War with a thrilling full-length film that features epic nautical battles and super hero action on a massive scale. It will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital HD on Tuesday, January 27th, but a movie this large deserves to be seen on the big screen, and if you can get to either Los Angeles or New York City, we’re giving you that chance.

Justice League: Throne of Atlantis makes its World Premiere in Los Angeles on January 12, 2015, before leaping to the east coast for a special New York Premiere on January 26, 2015. Interested in going? Well, we have five pairs of tickets to give away to each premiere. Here’s how to win them…

1) If you’re not already doing so, follow @DCComics on Twitter.

2) Before 11:59 p.m. PST on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, tweet out what you love about Aquaman using either the hashtag #JLAtlantisNYCPremiere or #JLAtlantisLAPremiere. You must pick one or the other, not both.

Five winners will be chosen at random for both the New York and Los Angeles premieres and direct messaged for their info—so be sure to check your direct messages! All ages are welcome to this event, though Justice League: Throne of Atlantis is rated PG-13, so please use discretion in bringing younger viewers.

That’s all there is to it! Good luck, hope to see you at the premiere and remember to pick up Justice League: Throne of Atlantis when it arrives in stores on January 27th!

LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!

The Two Mightiest Monsters Of All Time!

The most colossal conflict the screen has ever known!

The Battle of the Century!!

Now an all-mighty all-new motion picture brings them together for the first time in the colossal class of all time!

Mighty King Kong! Mighty Godzilla!

What is all the hoopla? Well both King Kong and Godzilla have reached the filnals of the San Jose News' "Monster Mash" which pitted monster against monster in a bracket competion similar to the NCAA basketball championship. Fans got their chance to vote for their favorites and now only Kong and Big G are left standing!

Now way back in 1962 Toho pitted these two titans against each other in the film "King Kong vs Godzilla". That time Kong came out on top. Back in 2010 we here at MIN came up with our own "Top 100" list based on fan input and Godzilla came out on top. Frankenstein (aka The Monster) took the silver and Kong the bronze.

The victor this time is in your hands! Godzilla the king of the monsters or Kong the eighth wonder of the world? You decide!

VOTE NOW!

Vote For The Greatest Movie Monster Of All Time!

Source: San Jose Mercury News

The San Jose Mercury news is asking it's readers to vote on just who is the greatest movie monster of all time!

Sure, King Kong is the top banana on his side of the jungle. But how would he fare against Jaws? And would our favorite great white stand a chance against that slimy creature from the "Alien" movies?

Now's the time to find out.

In honor of the most delightfully ghoulish month of the year, we are pitting our favorite monsters of all time against each other in a 32-monster bracket contest. Think of it as March Madness, only October style.

Best of all, you decide the winner -- the greatest monster of all time.

Here's how it will work. In a series of single-elimination battles between the monsters, voters will decide online which will advance.

There are some really intriguing first-round matchups. Freddy from "Nightmare on Elm Street" vs. Jigsaw from "Saw." Darth Vader ("Star Wars") battling Lord Voldemort ("Harry Potter"). And can Dracula hope to get past the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man ("Ghostbusters")?

That's entirely up to you. So vote now for your favorites on the right, or click here to start voting.

The first round ends Oct. 4. The winner will be announced before Halloween.

Of course we here at Monster Island News tackled this issue back in 2010. Check out our list of the Top 100 Movie Monsters Of All Time!

Fans Are Given A Rare Chance To Visit The Sets Of Doctor Who, Torchwood, And Sarah Jane

Source: BBC

Fans of smash-hit shows Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures are being offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go behind the scenes at the studios where the shows are filmed.

On Saturday and Sunday, 8 and 9 November, the BBC will be opening the studio doors just outside Cardiff to 100 lucky competition winners and their friends and families.

The money-can't-buy-experience is being run to help raise money for this year's BBC Children in Need appeal.

Doctor Who: Backstage will take fans to the heart of the action at the BBC Wales studios.

Visitors will tour the closely-guarded sets, come face-to-face with some of the Doctor's mortal enemies, and meet the behind-the-scenes teams who make it all happen – including the set designers, costumiers and make-up artists.

Russell T Davies says: "This is so exciting – giving fans the opportunity to take a behind the scenes look at where we film Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures is just brilliant.

"It'll be the perfect opportunity for the whole family to experience something unique and truly extraordinary. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience – and the best thing is that all the money raised will go towards BBC Children in Need."

To be in with a chance of winning a place on the tour, all people have to do is answer one multiple-choice question.

The all-important question will be announced on Friday 26 September, live on the Chris Moyles show on BBC Radio 1 and on BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru.

It will also be available on the Doctor Who website – bbc.co.uk/doctorwho – along with the full terms and conditions.

The competition phone lines will be open from 8am on Friday 26 September 2008. Callers must be over 16 and have the bill-payers' permission. Each winner will be able to bring up to three guests who must all be aged five or over.

The tour is taking place during a brief gap in the production schedule.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One this Christmas in The Next Doctor and filming resumes early in 2009 on a number of specials, followed by series five.

BBC Children in Need's aim is to positively change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

The 2008 BBC Children in Need television show is on Friday 14 November.

This year's fundraising theme is "Do Something Different" and in the weeks and months leading up to the televised appeal people are being encouraged to get creative and take up the challenge.

For inspiration there are lots of fantastic ideas in the new fundraising pack – go to bbc.co.uk/pudsey or call 0345 607 3333.
