Sometimes, when you sit down to write a daily devotional or even a sermon, you may have an idea that has been on your mind for days or hours before you begin typing. As always, prayer and conversations with the Lord are integral to this process. I had initially planned to discuss a serious topic about faith this morning, but upon waking, I felt a more pressing issue weighing on my heart and soul.
The most profound blessing we can experience is to dwell in the power and presence of God. It is a true privilege to witness the transformative power of Christ in our lives. When His presence is felt, remarkable things unfold. Jesus came into this world to guide us from the shadows of darkness into the brilliance of His light. His presence is truly the greatest gift we could ever receive.

This weekend brought some wonderful fall showers to Central Louisiana, along with much-welcomed cooler temperatures. For the first time in a long while, I was able to enjoy some quality time outside. I’m a sentimental person who loves rain; I enjoy watching it fall, and when it’s not thundering, I like to take long walks in the rain. There’s something magical about experiencing the soothing calmness of a gentle or steady rain shower. The sounds change, the air feels different, and the overall vibe transforms. Rain also provides an opportunity for solitude—a chance to think, reflect, and connect with God.

In the waning days of 2024, I had made up my mind to begin a new series of articles and develop a stronger relationship with God that coincided with the start of a new year. I had every intention of starting as soon as the new year began; then I hit a block, a wall, if you will. What would my new series be about? What would its ultimate goal be? On what subject would I begin? I wrestled with these questions over and over, and before I ever realized it or ever started, it was the beginning of April.
This past weekend, my wife discovered one of my old pictures that I surprisingly didn’t have in my archives. The photo depicts a lonely desert road in Nevada, rendered in stark black and white. In this form, the image powerfully conveys a sense of emptiness.
