Beyond Our Comfort: Let Compassion Light our Path: Supporting Our Neighbors in Need | Miracle Mindset

 Written By Ken Hulsey

Sometimes, when you sit down to write a daily devotional or even a sermon, you may have an idea that has been on your mind for days or hours before you begin typing. As always, prayer and conversations with the Lord are integral to this process. I had initially planned to discuss a serious topic about faith this morning, but upon waking, I felt a more pressing issue weighing on my heart and soul.

Internal Reflection Is The Key That Leads To New Beginnings | Miracle Mindset

 Written By Ken Hulsey

A new year signifies a new beginning. For many of us, it serves as an opportunity to reset our lives. It's a time to reflect on the past year while looking forward to what lies ahead. We often engage in writing down our New Year's resolutions—a list of things we hope to accomplish in the new year. Essentially, these are goals we didn't achieve last year, which we now hope to get right.

Find Your Fulfillment - A Path to Love & Peace

You need to make changes in your life because, deep down, you know you aren't truly fulfilled. You just want a little love and a little peace. Is that too much to ask for? The problem is, how would you even begin to find what you're seeking? The answer lies within your own heart and spirit. Change starts from the inside out. You can't force others to give you the love and peace you crave; it has to come from a place of self-love and inner tranquility first.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the blessings in our lives. As we gather with loved ones, let's take a moment to appreciate all that we are thankful for - from the big things like family and good health, to the small joys that make each day meaningful. Though family can sometimes test our patience, we must remember that they enrich our lives in immeasurable ways. So as you enjoy your Thanksgiving feast, and perhaps watch a holiday classic like "A Christmas Story," I encourage you to ponder the profound gifts of faith, community, and the simple beauty of living. This season is an opportunity to soak in life's abundance, and carry that gratitude with you throughout the year.

Bridges | Miracle Mindset

Photo and Story by Ken Hulsey

The title of this devotional is simply "Bridges," a topic I initially wanted to write about a couple of weeks ago. It seems that everywhere I have traveled over the past few weeks has involved crossing over a bridge. To provide some geographical context, I have been living here in Louisiana for the past several years, and my wife and I were in awe of the number of rivers, bayous, and lakes in this state when we first arrived. Coming from the California desert, we were not prepared for the abundance of water we would encounter here. Honestly, there is more water alongside the highways in the ditches after a good rain than in a typical lake in California.

Life slowed down in rainy day reflections | Miracle Mindset

This weekend brought some wonderful fall showers to Central Louisiana, along with much-welcomed cooler temperatures. For the first time in a long while, I was able to enjoy some quality time outside. I’m a sentimental person who loves rain; I enjoy watching it fall, and when it’s not thundering, I like to take long walks in the rain. There’s something magical about experiencing the soothing calmness of a gentle or steady rain shower. The sounds change, the air feels different, and the overall vibe transforms. Rain also provides an opportunity for solitude—a chance to think, reflect, and connect with God.

Sometimes All You Need Is A Little Gospel And A Strong Cup Of Coffee | Miracle Mindset

I have often noted that the strength of Louisiana comes from its people. The folks down here are hardworking, polite, loving, and God-fearing. They greet you with a smile and genuinely want to know how you are; it’s not just lip service. If you are looking for good people, look no further than the Pelican State.

Feeling Lost? How to Begin Your Spiritual Journey | Miracle Mindset

Written by Ken Hulsey

In the waning days of 2024, I had made up my mind to begin a new series of articles and develop a stronger relationship with God that coincided with the start of a new year. I had every intention of starting as soon as the new year began; then I hit a block, a wall, if you will. What would my new series be about? What would its ultimate goal be? On what subject would I begin? I wrestled with these questions over and over, and before I ever realized it or ever started, it was the beginning of April.

Finding the Right Path in Life - Divine Wisdom & Guidance | Wisdom Seeker | Miracle Mindset

This morning, I revisited cherished photographs from a trip Terri and I took to Big Bear Lake. On that day, we savored a picnic lunch beside the serene waters and spent time exploring the surrounding trails. As you know, I rarely venture forth without my trusty camera, and that day was no exception – I captured several dozen images. One particular shot has always resonated with me, featuring a tree-lined path that resembles a tunnel, with light shining at the end. The scene struck me as profoundly spiritual, prompting me to search for a Bible verse that captured its essence. This is the passage the Lord led me to:

This past weekend, my wife discovered one of my old pictures that I surprisingly didn’t have in my archives. The photo depicts a lonely desert road in Nevada, rendered in stark black and white. In this form, the image powerfully conveys a sense of emptiness.

Stay On The Path - No Matter What Life Throws At You | Miracle Mindset

Navigating the path that God has lovingly laid out for us can be a profound journey. Yet, it's often met with challenges that arise from forces seeking to distract and disorient us. Picture this: as you strive to follow that divine path, the adversary may suddenly appear, trying to blind you and lead you astray. Like a whirlwind, he might spin you around, making you feel dizzy and disoriented, and with a flick, he removes that blindfold. In that moment, it can feel as though you’ve lost your way, as if under the influence of something strong, unable to see your true direction.

How a Stranger Can Bring God’s Message When You Least Expect It

A few years back, Terri and I took our granddaughter for a delightful day at the zoo. What unfolded that day was more than just a joyful outing; it was a profound message from God that I never anticipated. Many of you know that I have a passion for photography, and the zoo offered the perfect backdrop for my wildlife photography pursuits. As is often my habit, I wandered off in search of interesting shots, momentarily losing sight of my family.

The Blessings We Often Overlook | Learning to Appreciate Life’s Simple Pleasures

 Written By: Ken Hulsey

It has become increasingly clear to me that my journey in Louisiana has been a profound opportunity for growth in both my life and faith. Life in the South can indeed present challenges, yet through these trials, I have come to deeply trust in God and have gained a newfound appreciation for the many daily blessings we often take for granted

Over the past seven years, my experiences with hurricanes and the occasional unexpected ice storm have stripped away some of the comforts many consider essential—electricity, air conditioning, heating, running water, and even our connection to the world through cable and internet. While the struggles can often be attributed to the state of infrastructure here in Louisiana, that's not the heart of the lesson I’ve learned.

The Simple Step That Can Change Your Life | What Holds People Back From Taking That Leap

Imagine yourself sailing on a serene lake, the gentle waves lapping against your boat. As you gaze toward the shore, a figure emerges, and after a moment of focus, you realize it's a man. To your astonishment, you see him walking toward you on the surface of the water.

As he approaches, it becomes clear—this is Jesus. He stops about fifty yards away and gestures for you to step out of the boat and join him on the water.

You Can't Do Life Alone - Finding Peace & Strength | Inspiring Insights | Miracle Mindset

Life can be incredibly challenging at times, throwing curveballs and obstacles in our path that threaten to derail us. Whether it's a health crisis, financial hardship, relationship troubles, or the loss of a loved one, these trials have the power to shake our faith and leave us feeling lost and alone. But I want to remind you today of a profound truth - you were never meant to navigate this journey called life on your own. God created us for relationship and community, both with Him and with others. When we try to tough it out in our own strength, relying solely on our limited understanding and resources, we quickly find ourselves overwhelmed and discouraged. But when we cultivate a deep, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ, everything changes. Suddenly, we have access to a supernatural peace that transcends our circumstances, an inner strength to persevere through adversity, and the comforting assurance that we are never alone. Through prayer, studying His Word, and quiet moments in His presence, we can experience the joy of true communion with our Savior. He longs to walk beside us, to carry our burdens, and to fill us with His love and grace. In a world that often feels chaotic and unpredictable, Jesus is our unshakable foundation - our Rock, our Refuge, and our ever-present Help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). So if you find yourself struggling today, don't try to shoulder the weight alone. Run into the open arms of your Heavenly Father, pour out your heart to Him, and let His perfect peace wash over you. For in Him, you will find the strength and courage to face whatever lies ahead. - Ken Hulsey
