Campers Have A Strange Experience While Camping At Mt. Baldy | Was It Bigfoot? | Tales of the Unexplained
Written By Ken Hulsey
Just before Thanksgiving, a woman, her teenage son, and two nephews drove up to Mt. Baldy in the mountains above Claremont, California, for an overnight camping trip. She was somewhat concerned about camping relatively close to civilization, fearing that criminals might be in the area. However, it turned out that thieves would end up being the least of her concerns, as an unknown and mysterious visitor was lurking nearby—possibly something not human.
Truck Driver Spots Bigfoot Near Garden Valley, Texas | Tales of the Unexplained
Witten By Ken Hulsey
For truck driver Wayne Yarian, an ordinary delivery day in Smith County, Texas, transformed into an encounter with the extraordinary. On the afternoon of November 18th, as Wayne maneuvered his truck along Texas Farm to Market Road 1253, just south of Highway 80, his attention was drawn to a peculiar motion in a grassy field to the west. As he approached a patch of grass reaching two feet high, he discerned a striking figure moving purposefully towards the trees beyond.
Fontana Speedway Monster | Bigfoot Sightings on the Outskirts of Los Angeles | Local Myths and Legends
Written By: Ken Hulsey
The city of Fontana, located in Southern California, has a rich history in auto racing. As many know, the Auto Club Speedway, situated within the city, hosts a major annual NASCAR race along with other racing events. However, less known is that in the 1950s, the area was home to the renowned Mickey Thompson's Fontana International Dragway, considered one of the premier drag racing venues in the country. The dragway operated for nearly two decades before a series of fatal accidents led to its closure in 1972. Today, the site is occupied by a housing development known as the Village of Heritage, located about a mile east of Etiwanda Boulevard on the north side of Foothill Boulevard.
A California Monster Mystery: The Buena Park Monster | Local Myths and Legends
Written By Ken Hulsey
For over a decade, I have been writing about sightings of Bigfoot-like creatures in and around Southern California. As a general rule, these encounters have taken place in rural, mountainous, and even desert areas. Many of them occurred in secluded locations, while others surprisingly happened in populated areas adjacent to those mountains, forests, and deserts. It seems that Bigfoot wanders into neighborhoods from time to time, probably in search of food.

Earlier this summer, a trio of rescuers encountered an unexplained creature while searching for a missing young female camper in Yavapai County, Arizona. The group, led by a woman named Amber, along with her husband and her husband’s cousin, embarked on their search late at night. As they called out the girl’s name, the stillness of the woods was interrupted by a series of ominous tree knocks. Amber jokingly commented, “Oh hey, it’s Bigfoot!” However, her husband and cousin were not entertained and continued their search.

Many of you are undoubtedly familiar with the legends of Bigfoot and all of his ape-like kin who are reported to dwell in the numerous remote wilderness areas and swamps throughout North America. These vast areas where man seldom treads provide a perfect refuge for these creatures where food and water are plentiful and protection from the elements can be easily attained.
Fouke Monster Sightings - Ape-Like Creature Encounters | Cryptid Investigations
Photo and Story By Ken Hulsey
For over a century, residents of Fouke, Arkansas and the surrounding rural areas have reported encounters with a large, ape-like creature. Initially known as the "Jonesville Monster," the creature was first sighted by farmers and hunters around the town of Jonesville. Over the following decades, sightings expanded across Miller County, Arkansas and into eastern Texas, with even a few reports within the city limits of Texarkana.
Searching For Bigfoot In The Bayou State Of Louisiana
Today I had the pleasure of meeting up with Craig Woolheater (the founder of the wonderful cryptozoology website Cryptomundo) and several other Bigfoot researchers at Chicot State Park. Craig ventured out of his home state of Texas and joined us here in the swamp to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his life-changing sighting of a Bigfoot in 1994 near the town of Bunkie in Avoyelles Parish (LA).
I couldn't pass up an opportunity to meet fellow enthusiasts and find out more about Craig's encounter since Bunkie is literally fifteen minutes down the road from my home in Lecompte (LA). It also didn't hurt that I have known Craig for several years and I was once a contributor to his website.
Here is Craig's published report of the sighting:
"My ex-wife (girlfriend at the time) and I were driving back to Dallas from New Orleans. We had started out at 9 pm. I was driving my 1991 Isuzu Amigo, and the top was rolled up because the weather was nice. We had been traveling between 2 1/2 to 3 hours at 75 mph. We were approaching Bunkie. At this point, we were on an unlit 2-lane highway, Highway 71. On the left side of the road, it was very swampy, to the right 25 to 30 feet from the edge of the road, was the tree line.
As we were driving at approximately 75 mph, we saw an upright figure off to our right in the headlights. We both saw it as we passed and exclaimed simultaneously, "Did you just see what I saw?". We both agreed that we had and I asked her, "What do you think that you saw?". She said, "It think I saw a Bigfoot." I wanted to immediately turn around and go back. She did not as we were in an open convertible. There was a friend of ours asleep in the back seat, who slept through the entire incident.
As we passed it, it never seemed to detect our presence. At least that's the way it seemed because it never turned or even flinched as we went by.
We drove for 10-15 minutes until we came to a small church in the country and pulled in to talk about what we had seen. We discussed it for ten minutes or so and got back on the road to Dallas.
DESCRIPTION: We saw the backside of the creature, as it was traveling in the same direction that we were. We estimated its height at 7'. It was covered with hair and in the illumination of my headlights, it appeared to be gray in color. It was walking and it was slumped over in the front."
Besides being able to hear about Craig's encounter first hand the event provided the opportunity for several of us to share our own stories and brain-storm about possible future expeditions, town hall meetings (where people could feel comfortable about sharing their own sightings) and even a documentary in the future. The idea of even expanding future investigations to other paranormal phenomena such as hauntings and UFOs was also touched upon but that may be getting way ahead of ourselves. Regardless, there was a consensus that local researchers should get together in the future to work on Bigfoot related projects.
This is where I would like to put forward an open invitation to anyone who has seen Bigfoot or any other unexplained creature here in Louisiana to respond to this article or contact myself through this website. The reason for this call for information is to help compile a database of local sightings for future articles, research, expeditions and possibly the documentary I mentioned earlier. These reports can of course be anonymous if you wish and no reported sighting will be published without consent.
My kudos to Mark Daniels, Eden Boudreaux, Courtnye Ann Frederic, Valerie Bamburg Guice, Elise Orr. Sasquatch Ethology Society, The Ladies of Louisiana and Mississippi for making this event possible.
New Report Finds Bigfoot Prefers These Eight States
In the world of Sasquatch sightings, not all states are created equal.
That’s according to a new ranking of the best spots in the United States to get a glimpse of Bigfoot, which the Travel Channel compiled based on “never-before-released data” gathered by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization.
Washington is where Bigfoot hunters are most likely to lay eyes on the legendary creature, the Travel Channel says, and it’s the No. 1 state on the list.
“With a whopping 2,032 sightings and counting, this is the world’s most active region,” according to the Travel Channel. “The most popular places to catch a glimpse include the Blue Mountains, Okanogan County — or better yet, Ape Canyon — the locale of one of the most aggressive Bigfoot encounters ever recorded.”
Next on the list comes California, with 1,697 reported sightings of the hairy beast, followed by Pennsylvania, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oregon and Texas with 806 sightings.
“East Texas, especially the areas that border Oklahoma and Louisiana, is the site of countless Bigfoot reports each year,” the Travel Channel ranking said.
But those aren’t the only states where Bigfoot is rumored to be on the prowl: There are towns in North Carolina that boast Bigfoot museums, festivals and more, The News & Observer in Raleigh reported last year. One town in the Bigfoot-crazy state has even named the cryptid its “official animal,” the Charlotte Observer reported.
“Who is to say what’s out there?” Bob Boyette, town manager in Marion, N.C., told The Observer. “Nobody knows for sure, and there are some smart people who are convinced it’s real.”
There are international sightings, too — including an instance of Yeti tracks reportedly discovered just last month by India’s army in Nepal, according to the Observer. (Skeptical Indian media outlets panned the reported find as “deeply, deeply embarrassing” for the army.)
The Bigfoot-tracking information the new ranking relied on included 23,000 sightings across the U.S., and it amounts to “the world’s ultimate Sasquatch database of compiled sightings and testimonies,” according to a March blog post leading up to the release of the Travel Channel’s new show “In Search of Monsters.”
The series airs Wednesdays at 9:00pm ET/PT, according to the Travel Channel. Bigfoot was featured in the first episode, the blog post said.

Things That Go Bump In The Night The Mill Race Park Monster
Initial Sightings
On November 1st, 1974, the police department in Columbus, Indiana received reports from at least two sets of eyewitnesses who claimed to have seen and even possibly been attacked by a huge green-skinned monster by the water inside Mill Race Park.
The first report involved four young women whose names were not released by the police department. At about 3 PM, one of the women spotted the monster between two trees in the park. The group was able to escape and immediately reported their encounter to the police. They stated they had seen a "green, hairy, and large" creature.
The second report involved a pair of women unrelated to the first group, and who were also supposedly unaware of the sighting that had previously been reported. Tyra Cataline, one of those women, later came forward in 2014 on the show Monsters and Mysteries in America. She also told her story in 2015 on a local Fox News station, a full 41 years after the fact. She told them, "It was something. I don't know what it was, but it wasn't somebody wearing a costume."
Cataline's report also described the monster as having slime on its face and possessing large claws. The women claimed to have been attacked, and their car had scratch marks and a stench as a result of that attack.
The Word Spreads
On November 2nd, 1974, the newspaper The Republic printed a story titled "Monster - Women Report Seeing 'Beast' in Mill Race," which detailed both reported encounters. On November 6th, The Republic printed another report which involved two men in their 20s. In this report, the newspaper officially called the creature the "Mill Race Monster."
On November 9th, 1974, another newspaper, the Indianapolis Star, wrote a report of yet another encounter, this time involving two city dogcatchers, Rick Duckworth and John Brown.
Duckworth claimed he attempted to chase the monster after it ran from them. He also claimed after the fact that it was not a monster at all, but merely a large man "wearing a green mask and green blankets."
It was after this report that that amateur monster hunters and curiosity seekers began to pour into the area. One night, there was even supposedly over 100 cars in the park due to this influx of people.
Crowd Control
There were so many people hunting for the Mill Race Monster that it soon became necessary for local law enforcement to respond. On November 8th, 1974, the director of the city park, Robert Gillikin, stated that, "It may become necessary to close the park to the public at night, not because of the 'monster' but because of the public."
Gillikin followed through with his statement, and the park was closed to the public at night soon after. Police were also stationed around all entrances in order to prevent people attempting to hunt the Mill Race Monster from entering. The Columbus Police Department even unofficially appointed Officer Kenneth St. John as "Monster Control Officer."
Conclusion
No one has ever confirmed whether or not the Mill Race Monster was fake, as Duckworth claimed, despite all the attempts by multiple people to hunt it. One interesting element to add into the mix, however, was that in the story initially printed by The Republic on November 6th, one of the two unnamed men speculated that because there had been UFOs supposedly seen over the area as well, the Mill Race Park Monster might have been of alien origin.
Sightings have continued up to the present day. The story run by the Fox News station featuring Tyra Cataline was prompted by a report on October 10th, 2015 from a local hunter. He claimed to have seen a bigfoot-like creature, which may or may not have been related to the Mill Race Monster, in the Morgan-Monroe State Forest in Martinsville, Indiana.
The fact that there has been such a recent reported sighting shows that the Mill Race Monster's notoriety has continued, and like any good monster story, it is unlikely the legend will go away any time soon.

New York Town Names Bigfoot Official Mascot
Whitehall village, in upstate New York, passed the resolution 4-0 and it also requires citizens to observe a Bigfoot “Appreciation Day” in September, reported the Albany Times Union. The resolution refers to the mythical creature by its more formal name: Sasquatch.
One former town board member dubbed the unorthodox vote a “good publicity” move, The Whitehall News reported.
“It can’t hurt,” village trustee George Armstrong told the newspaper.
Belief in the existence of Bigfoot is based largely on circumstantial evidence, including eyewitness accounts, blurry photographs and mysterious footprints. Scientists insist the sightings are often misidentifications of other animals.
New York isn’t exactly known as a hotbed of Bigfoot sightings of late, but TV station WTEN explains several sightings did occur in the 1970s. Whitehall seized on the publicity and now has multiple Bigfoot statues and an annual Sasquatch festival, WTEN reports.
The town’s biggest claim to fame is a 1976 incident in which three people reported seeing “a large, ape-like creature between 7-feet and 8-feet tall, darting toward their car,” according to CryptoZooNews.com.

Zachary Quinto Goes "In Search Of"
From Variety
History has greenlit the unscripted series “In Search Of” with Zachary Quinto attached as host and executive producer, the cable network announced Tuesday.
Inspired by the iconic 1970s series of the same name, the show will examine unexplained phenomena from all over the world. Each episode will follow Quinto as he investigates a different subject within a dynamic theme – such as alien encounters, mysterious creatures, UFO sightings, time travel and artificial intelligence – and searches for the truth to some of the world’s greatest mysteries. The original “In Search Of” series aired from 1977-1982 and was hosted by Rod Serling and later by Leonard Nimoy following Serling’s death. Ironically, one of Quinto’s most famous roles is playing the younger version of Spock–a character made famous by Nimoy–in the new “Star Trek” film franchise.
“I am so excited to be reimagining ‘In Search Of’ and exploring new questions and phenomena with all of the advancements in science and technology from which we have benefitted in the past forty years since the original series first aired,” said Quinto. “In the spirit of my late dear friend Leonard Nimoy, we intend to honor and perpetuate his endless curiosity about the world – and universe – in which we live. Our director Eddie Schmidt and our partners at Propagate, Universal Television Alternative Studio and FremantleMedia International have ignited the process with enthusiasm and intelligence, and History is the perfect home for this unique and compelling series.”
“In Search Of” is produced for History by Propagate Content, Universal Television Alternative Studio and Before the Door Pictures with FremantleMedia International distributing the series globally. Ben Silverman, Howard Owens and Brett-Patrick Jenkins are executive producers for Propagate Content. Eddie Schmidt is also executive producer. Zachary Behr is executive producer for History.

Spooky adventures await in Transyl ... I mean Pennsylvania
She lurks below the surface of the lake near Presque Isle, her lithe form forever swimming through the weeds and the mire. Pale and green of skin, her yellow eyes shine luminously in the dark, and her thin long arms wrap themselves around the unwary, while foul-green pointed teeth sink into soft flesh and sharp nails at the end of long bony fingers stroke you into the deepest sleep there is. She is called by many names, but to sailors of Lake Erie, she is known as the Storm Hag.
The creature is a sea witch, an evil Jenny Greenteeth who summoned the storms and pulled shipwrecked sailors down into her evil embrace to live with her forever at the bottom of the lake. Sometimes she waits until the calm right after the storm to attack. When the sailors relax their guard, lulled into thinking that the danger had passed with the storm, the Storm Hag bursts forth from the dark waters of the lake, spewing forth lightening and wind like venom. And the ship will vanish - never to be seen again.
There is only one warning before she strikes. If you listen closely, you can hear her singing against the harsh wind and the thrashing waves:
"Come into the water, love,
Dance beneath the waves,
Where dwell the bones of sailor-lads
Inside my saffron cave."
If you can, flee immediately, for the Storm Hag is right beside you. If you cannot, then pray to your God for mercy, for the Storm Hag will grant you none. Her whirlpool will suck down your ship, and her long green arms will lovingly stroke you into the depths of the lake, where she will feast on your body among the weeds. - Source
Is Bigfoot in Pennsylvania? Sightings reported for more than 150 years
"Wild People – In Lancaster, Pa., a thing like a man, but hairy as a bear, has been seen by the people. It was very wild and strong. It was once seen in a pen, sucking the cows, and when discovered it started as if about to fight, and then turned and fled, bounding like a deer. It walks upright and is supposed, to be a wild man."
More recently, in October 2012, a Bigfoot hunter claimed a Bigfoot attacked his motor home, with him in it, on state game lands near Lykens. In October 2013, a man posted video to the Internet of what he claimed were two Bigfoot creatures near Kinzua State Park in Bradford County but are now generally seen as the overturned roots of some fallen trees.
And, most recently, there were photos of tracks in the snow by two young men on March 22 and 29 this year and reports of wood-knocking, which believers claim is a method of communication or threat employed by Bigfoot, near Kinzua Dam and Reservoir in Bradford County. These were investigated by Eric Altman, a southwestern Pennsylvania native and current resident, past director of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society, a field investigator since the 1980s, conference organizer and host of the Beyond the Edge podcast and radio broadcast. - Source
Goblin of Easton
There was once a monk at the mission who loved money and power more than he loved God. He would hear the confession of the good folk who attended the mission, and then would blackmail them into giving him gold and silver to keep their darkest secrets. He turned many a wayward sinner's feet towards the fires of hell rather than the gates of heaven, encouraging their crimes in secret while he reviled them in public.
It was after he beat one poor old woman to death that the evil monk was imprisoned and sentenced to hang for his crimes. But just after he was cut down from the noose and pronounced dead, his corpse began to transform before the horrified eyes of the people. The face twisted and small tusks sprang from either side of his nose. His shock of white hair grew long and greasy, and two pointed canines emerged from his slit of a mouth. The goblin-monk opened eyes that glowed yellow even in the light of noon-day, and sprang to feet that now ended in claws rather than toes.
The people screamed and fled, and no prayer of his former brothers-in-faith could banish the goblin. It disappeared deep into the forest, only to return at night and prey upon the monks of the mission who had been responsible for its death. After five of the brothers had fallen to the goblin, the rest of the monks abandoned the mission and moved to another part of the country. Since that time, the mission-house had slowly fallen into ruin. - Source
Kecksburg UFO incident
The Kecksburg UFO incident occurred on December 9, 1965, at Kecksburg, Pennsylvania, USA. A large, brilliant fireball was seen by thousands in at least six U.S. states and Ontario, Canada. It streaked over the Detroit, Michigan – Windsor, Ontario area, reportedly dropped hot metal debris over Michigan and northern Ohio, starting some grass fires, and caused sonic booms in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. It was generally assumed and reported by the press to be a meteor after authorities discounted other proposed explanations such as a plane crash, errant missile test, or reentering satellite debris. However, eyewitnesses in the small village of Kecksburg, about 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, claimed something crashed in the woods. A boy said he saw the object land; his mother saw a wisp of blue smoke arising from the woods and alerted authorities. Another reported feeling a vibration and "a thump" about the time the object reportedly landed. Others from Kecksburg, including local volunteer fire department members, reported finding an object in the shape of an acorn and about as large as a Volkswagen Beetle. Writing resembling Egyptian hieroglyphics was also said to be in a band around the base of the object. Witnesses further reported that intense military presence, most notably the United States Army, secured the area, ordered civilians out, and then removed an object on a flatbed truck. The military claimed they searched the woods and found "absolutely nothing." - Source
Ghost in the Stacks
I saw her out of the corner of my eye while I was studying in a remote corner of the second-level stacks in the library. She was pretty, with reddish hair and pensive, wide eyes in an intelligent face. I straightened up, patted my hair to make sure it was smooth, and took another look. She was gone. I felt my shoulders sag a bit as I turned back to my books. Oh well. There were more important things, like studying hard so that I got into medical school when I graduated next year.
Still, I kept seeing the girl's pretty face whenever I closed my eyes, and I was still thinking about her as I left the library. A few of my friends shouted to me and I walked over to their gathering place.
"Where've you been, Tony?" my friend Jeff called.
"At the library," I said, patting my backpack for emphasis.
"You have been studying?" Jeff asked incredulously.
I grinned. "I've gotta crack down now so I can get into med school," I replied to his jibe. "Can't always be partying with you losers!"
That set them off, as I had intended, and kept the jokes flying until dinnertime.
Although I didn't admit it to myself, I chose the same spot in the stacks for my studies the following afternoon, hoping to see the pretty girl again. I was in luck. After about an hour, she appeared among the shelves, browsing intently. I noticed that she was wearing the same red flowered dress with a buttoned-down white sweater. She must like that outfit. It was time for me to do some browsing too, I thought, straightening my shirt and rising casually. I turned to walk into the shelves and stopped abruptly. She was gone! I was astonished. She must be quick, I thought. It had only taken me a few seconds to rise and turn, but in that short time she had managed to move away without me seeing her do so. I walked casually through the stacks, glancing this way and that, trying to spot her again. No luck. With a sigh, I turned back to my seat and my studies, a frustrated man.
I didn't see the girl again for several weeks. Then one day, as I rushed out of the stacks towards my friend Jeff, who was impatiently beckoning to me to hurry up, I saw her rising from a seat in a far corner. I stopped abruptly and turned, hoping to catch her eye as she moved into the stacks, but she did not turn her head. Ignoring Jeff, who was calling my name impatiently, I backtracked in the hope of at least walking passed her and saying hello. I stopped at the entrance of the stacks where the pretty girl with reddish hair had just walked. There was no one there. I shivered a bit. This was getting spooky. Was she avoiding me? Why? We had never spoken, and I certainly could not be accused of staring at her, since I had only seen her for a total of maybe thirty seconds!
I was deep into my studies when I heard the sound of books and shelves tumbling to the floor. I leapt up and ran toward the sounds. To my horror, the pretty red-haired girl whom I'd been trying to meet lay on the floor with books all around her. She was unconscious, and my heart gave a painful thump when I realized that there was blood staining her red dress. And then, right before my eyes, she vanished. I sat down abruptly on the floor, my legs shaking too hard to hold me. I had just seen a ghost.
It was then that I remembered the story of the girl who had been murdered in the library back in the sixties. I knew at once that it was her. I had just seen the reenactment of her final moments of life. I buried my face in my shaking hands, feeling a terrible grief at the tragic loss of such a beautiful girl. From what I had heard, her murderer was never apprehended. It made me furious to think that justice had never been served. Slowly, I uncoiled my body and rose to my feet. The aisle between the stacks was empty now, and so was my heart. I was too unnerved to study anymore in this deserted place, so I grabbed my books and went back to my room. - Source
The White Bigfoot of Carbondale
For many years, the residents of Carbondale have reported some bizarre sightings of a white Bigfoot. Carbondale is a small city that was the site of the first underground mine in the United States. It used to be a major terminal of the Delaware and Hudson Railroad. In July of 2008, a local news station in Pennsylvania ran a story which talked about the “white (possibly albino) creature” after receiving an anonymous email. It was said to be “some sort of animal about 6 to 7 feet (1.8 to 2.1 meters) tall, covered in all white fur.” The email specifically mentioned a wooded area in Carbondale near a mine reclamation site. Mine reclamation is the process of restoring land that has been mined to an economically usable condition. In 2010, people began to report sightings of a white juvenile Bigfoot in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. Homeowners began to hear strange noises and disturbances in the woods. In one case, an unidentified man witnessed movement in his backyard and was able to capture some bizarre video footage. For one full second, the man filmed a large white creature that resembled the shape of a Bigfoot. - Source
Waterford Sheepman
Waterford Sheepman is an abominable creature that terrorized the small rural town of Waterford Pennsylvania in the early 1970s. It lurked in farm fields, stalking the unwitting animal in a desire to tear it apart and feed on its flesh and blood. Hundreds of people witnessed this creature, its also referred as Goatman.
Marylin knew of the goat-man legend as a teenager in the 70s; but along with the stories, she had also seen it with her own eyes on more than one occasion. “I lived on Baghdad Road and I saw this figure running across the dirt road at one point near the old sawmill.” She remembers that at the time there was much talk about the legend, with many people catching a glimpse of the creature darting across the road or into the brush along farm fields. She a second encounter with the monster when she was 17, “He was there that one night I drove home and right before I turned into my driveway, there he was, running across the road and into the woods.” - Source
The Crying Child of Olde Fort Mifflin
There is only one word for Fort Mifflin during a siege reenactment. LOUD! My ears were ringing as I hurried inside the ammunition mound, according to my assigned role. The mound muffled the sound of canons a little bit. But I still reckoned I'd be deaf all day tomorrow!
The air grew chillier as I moved deeper into the mound. It felt as if I'd entered a cavern, and the tiny hairs on the back of my neck bristled. I rubbed my neck, trying to make the feeling go away, and shivered as another gust of cold air hit my face. I was freezing cold in spite of my heavy Revolutionary uniform, and I almost turned and left the mound in spite of my errand when I heard someone crying at the very back of the mound.
I hurried to the sound, and saw a boy curled up into a ball, crying hard because he was scared by the sound of the cannons. I couldn't blame him.
"Are you lost?" I asked him. "Shall I get your parents?"
He didn't seem to see me, and he kept crying into his tattered sleeve. His costume looked even more realistic than mine, down to the poor dirty little bare feet.
"Stay here, and I'll go find your parents," I told him. I hurried toward the door through the freezing air - really, it felt cold enough to snow! -- and out into the comparative warmth of a November day. I motioned to a friend of mine who was guarding the mound, and told him about the child. He ducked inside to have a quick talk with the boy, but he returned moments later to say that the child had ignored him and kept crying into his sleeve. So my friend stood watch over the door to make sure the little fellow wouldn't slip away and I ran off to try to locate his parents. But no one on the battlefield was missing a child. That surprised me. I figured I'd better go back and question the lad further.
I hurried back to the mound and went inside with my friend at my heels. The air inside was much warmer than it had been when I walked into the mound the first time. And the weeping boy was gone. With no way in or out of the mound except the door my friend guarded, the boy had somehow vanished. I got goose bumps all over my skin when I saw the empty floor where the boy had lain weeping. Oh lord, I had seen a ghost! I could tell from my friend's white face that he realized it too.
"I hope that he made it safely out of the ammunition mound that day," I said to my friend.
He nodded gravely. "I hope so too," he said. - Source

The Year in Bigfoot
From CityLab
Late on a dark night in May 2014, two hunters slowly traced I-90 back to their homes in eastern Washington state. It had been an unsuccessful turkey hunt in Kittatas County, and now the men kept their tired eyes fixed to the forested roadside for capricious elk and deer.
That's why they saw it—and slammed on the brakes. According to an investigative report, "the subject" exited the trees, approached their truck, and shuffled across the road in "what appeared to be a calculated execution... to avoid being hit." Shuddering, the men attempted to make eye contact with the rangy creature, but its face was so covered in fur that it was impossible. "It was not a person or a bear, absolutely not," one of the men wrote. "I have never feared going into the woods but will no longer do my 3:30 a.m. hunting trips for turkey by myself ever again."
It was the only Bigfoot sighting to come out of Kittatas County this year, or at least the only one officially described to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO), a website that's tracked and investigated reports in the U.S. and Canada back to 1921. But with at least four total sightings in 2014, Washington tied with Pennsylvania as the year's leading state in Bigfoot sightings, according to CityLab's count of BFRO reports.

America's Monster Hunters: BBC Four Documentary to Delve into 'Cult of Bigfoot Hunting'
I hope my impression is wrong, but as I said before, the latest press coming out of the UK has me concerned.

A BBC Four documentary is to look into the "culture of Bigfoot hunting".
Shooting Bigfoot: America's Monster Hunters will follow filmmaker Morgan Matthews as he accompanies three American Bigfoot search parties on the lookout for proof of the elusive missing link.
A BBC synopsis says the show will look into "the religiously obsessive, competitive and bitterly divided cult of Bigfoot hunting."
Tom Biscardi is one of the men Matthews tails. He has been hunting down the ape-like creature for 37 years (some would probably take a hint after 5 years so extra credit for persistence), turning his hobby into a career.
His website (which is quite something, check out the hilarious Bigfoot Photoshop job at the top) lists him as CEO of Searching for Bigfoot inc. He and his team "adopts a military approach" to finding the creature, utilising thermal imaging cameras and tasers as part of their ever-increasing arsenal.
Two more hunters, Dallas and Wayne from Ohio – are unemployed and think Native American chanting will help them lure Bigfoot.
The success rates of each are the same.
Finally there's Rick Dyer, who found fame earlier this year for allegedly killing Bigfoot in 2012 and posting pictures of the "beast" online.
"I've heard people say it's fake. They haven't seen the body. They haven't studied it," he told the New York Daily News. "They're just guessing. They're not an expert in what they're talking about."
Shooting Bigfoot: America's Monster Hunters airs Monday 24 March at 9pm.
