A few minutes ago, I posted the following at several Godzilla and kaiju-related groups at Facebook:
If there's anyone in Japan or is about to go to Japan in the immediate future and sees "Shin Godzilla", I need a list of locations featured in the movie to incorporate them in the next edition of "The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan". I will note contributors in the acknowledgments page. Thanks!
In case anyone in Japan who reads this, but doesn't have a Facebook account, the offer is extended to you here.

The newest 'Star Wars' clip takes us on a 360-degree drive through Jakku

From USA Today

Ready to not work at all today? Good. Because we're going to be playing this interactive Star Wars: The Force Awakens game all day.

Created exclusively to the Star Wars Facebook, the 360-degree game lets you drive a speeder through what looks like an Imperial Destroyer graveyard on the newly revealed desert planet Jakku (which looks a lot like Tatooine, to be honest).

It's pretty awesome. Other than being a pretty suitable replacement for those Oculus Rift glasses we're never going to get, it gives us a pretty in-depth sneak peek at the battleship graveyard where we'll probably meet Rey. You can even see some alien heads pop up behind the ships if you look close enough! (We haven't watched this video 10 to 12 times). There goes our lunch break.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in theaters Dec. 18, 2015.

"The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan" Facebook Page

by Armand Vaquer

A Facebook page for The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan has been set up. I've been meaning to create a page for the travel guide, but just never got around to setting one up.

Finally, last night I created it. Once I did, in no time it had over 30 likes (or members).

To check it out and join, go here.

Godzilla 2012 - Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros (Fan Group)

Written By: Ken Hulsey

With all the buzz generated yesterday, when it was announced that Legendary Pictures, in conjunction with Warner Bros studios, were going to make a new "Godzilla" movie for release in 2012, I thought that it was the right time to start an online fan page for it.

So, I logged on to Facebook this morning and created "Godzilla 2012 - Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros (Fan Group)" for fans of the "Godzilla" movie series to be able to post their thoughts about the project and also post rumors about the films plot and potential monster(s) designs.

Just about every media outlet ran a story about the film, which has created a great deal of interest in this new American made "Godzilla" movie.

I think that it is important that we, the fans, show our support for the film, and let our voices be heard, when it comes to what we would like to see (expect) from such a film.

With any luck, the folks of at Legendary/Warner Bros, will check in on the group to see what is going on, and possibly, take some of the opinions voiced there to heart.

I don't think that either the fans, or the studios involved, want a repeat of what happened with "Godzilla 98".

From the studios statements, it is apparent that they want "Godzilla 2012" to be something more along the lines of the classic films produced by Toho between 1954-2004.

I think that is what we all want.

I encourage all of you to join the group, and become very active in it. Of course, just joining will make a statement on it's own, and participation is not mandatory, but the more people we get to post messages the better.

I think that by doing this, all of us, that is to say the mass of Godzilla fans worldwide can play some part, however possibly small, in ensuring that "Godzilla 2012" will be both successful, and a movie we can treasure for generations to come.

Update: Godzilla 2012 - Legendary/Warner Bros (Fan Page) - Blog!

I occurred to me that many Godzilla fans may not be members of Facebook, so I created an independent blog so that you could join that and post comments in regards to the subjects, rumors, news and etc. that will be posted there.

Monster Island News - New Group On Facebook

Written By: Ken Hulsey

I just wanted to let everyone know that 'Monster Island News' has a brand-new group on Facebook!

The group, called, "Monster Island News: Sci Fi, Fantasy, Horror, & B Movie Junkies" was launched on Monday. So far it has been a big success! The group grew from 0 to 63 members in just 24 hours!

I found that to be rather impressive!

I don't want to brag (okay, I really do) but the group's members include some of the top talent in the genre.

Here is the description for the group:

Do you find the average movie boring? Are you looking for something a little off center when you go to the movies? Does your DVD collection contain: Army of Darkness, Big Trouble In Little China, Logan's Run, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Destroy All Monsters, Star Crash, Star Wars or Planet of the Apes? Do you believe that B Movie doesn't stand for 'bad' movie? Do your friends think your crazy? Well we don't here!

Does this sound like your kind of group? Well if you are a member of Facebook, come on aboard at: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=54512444033&ref=mf

We look forward to seeing you!

A David Tennant Lookalike Warns About David Tennant Impostors

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: io9.com / Avery Guerra

I know the title of this article sounds a bit confusing, but there really is a David Tennant lookalike who has a video warning about David Tennant impostors on the internet.

It seems that someone pretending to be David Tennant has been scamming people by using Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, message boards, and other social sites. This can be dangerous for unsuspecting fans of the Doctor Who star.

In some instances people have been contacted by the impostor and given instructions on where to meet him. Now people may be lured into this trap thinking that Tennant may want to privately meet some of his fans, but that simply isn't the case. This is a very dangerous situation, but so far as anyone knows no one has been harmed.

Let this be a warning to all of you. If you find a celebrity on one of these sites, it probably isn't them.

I have encountered a few of these on Facebook myself, granted none of them has tried to scam me yet.

I happen to know a few actors personally who do use Facebook, but that's just it, I know them.....you probably don't, so watch yourselves. If say Brad Pitt wants to be friends......that may be a big danger sign. If all of a sudden Scarlett Johansson says she wants to "hook up" with you, you aren't going to score, you are going to be robbed or killed.

Use common sense in these matters for your own safety!

Silent-But-Deadly Productions Launches A Facebook Fundraiser

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Rachel Grubb

As we all know times are tough all over and it is especially hard for small, independent film companies to make ends meet. There have been several times that I have posted an article about a production team that needed a few extra dollars to help finish a film.

Well I'm doing it again, but this time I really think it is for a good cause.

Rachel Grubb of Silent-But-Deadly Productions has come up with a very fun and interesting way for people to donate to her company using Facebook.

For a $5 donation fans can rent Silent-But-Deadly Productions status update for 24 hours. The renter can use the update line to post anything they want, within reason, like a personal message or an advertisement.

Here is a copy of the message Rachel Grubb posted on Facebook:

Are you tired of boring Facebook status updates? And status updates that don't say anything, because they're really just quotes from The Dark Knight, or bad 80's songs? Well, here is your chance to change Rachel and Brooke's facebook status to whatever you want!

That's right--Silent-But-Deadly Productions is renting out their facebook statuses. We've got a web series coming up, another short film, and several other projects for 2009, and we would be grateful if you could help us out. We are a non-profit all female production company dedicated to supporting women in film. We are planning to invite some young girls to visit our set so that they have an opportunity to learn about the film making process.

For $5, you can change our statuses, either Brooke's or Rachel's, for 24 hours. You can use it to advertise your business, get the word out about your cause, or just embarrass Rachel and Brooke. (examples: "Rachel eats boogers," "Brooke listens to Eddie Money.") We are addicts and always on facebook, so plenty of people will see your message!

To get your status update, you can make a donation via paypal at this link:http://springboardforthearts.org/AboutUs/Donors.asp

You must make sure you write "Silent-But-Deadly Productions" in the message area, or the money will not go to us. When you get the email receipt from paypal, forward it to Rachel at rachelg@thechainsawmafia.com Then just let us know what you would like the status to say. We are open to anything other than hate speech, so be as creative as you want! You can buy as many 24 hours periods as you want. You can also include links.

Since we are a 501c3 non-profit, you will also get a tax deduction for the amount you donate for the 2009 fiscal year.

Even if you can't afford a donation, do us a favor and pass this along. Thanks for reading!

I strongly urge everyone to take advantage of this one, besides it would be fun. How many times do you get to blow-up someones status line on Facebook?
