The SciFi Japan TV guys have produced a very good (about ten minutes long) video on seeing Tokyo "through the eyes of Godzilla" that was just posted yesterday on YouTube entitled, "City of Monsters."

Here's what they say:
SciFi Japan takes you on a tour of Tokyo through the eyes of Godzilla!
No other districts of Tokyo have felt Godzilla's wrath as much as Ginza, Nagatacho, Shinagawa, and Odaiba. Join us to see the sights and discover the history of Godzilla's favorite stomping grounds!
Most of the places shown are spotlighted in The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan with information on how to get to them.

Albino Bigfoot Caught Sneaking Around Pennsylvania?

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Youtube

Though eyewitness reports of Bigfoot, or Sasquatch, normally indicate that the legendary animal is either black or brownish in color, there have been, from time to time, sightings of all white individuals.

Reportedly back in December the residents of a small Pennsylvania town (sorry the report I read didn't indicate which town) were being disturbed by strange noises at night. It was at that time that several of the towns-folk came forward to report that they had seen a 'Bigfoot-like' creature around their homes.

As the story goes, and I am getting this from the posting on Youtube, one brave individual decided to get to the bottom of things after they heard a disturbance in the back yard of their wooded property.

Armed with a flashlight and a video recorder the party in question wandered out into the night and found more than they bargained for.

The majority of this clip will conjure up memories of that awful "Blair Witch Project" movie with nothing more to see tan the flashlight beam bouncing around from the ground to the trees. Then some 30 seconds into the thing, a white creature can be seen quickly emerging from behind a tree, then disappearing out of sight.

Is it an albino Bigfoot?

Well, the thing looks like some sort of ape.....and it is all white......from head to toe from the look of what we get a very brief glimpse of.

Now, I tried to pause the clip at the exact moment that the animal appears, with limited success.

The object just moves too fast to get a clear look at it.

So is it Bigfoot? Uh.....well.......it could be.

Then again, it could just be some knucklehead in a white ape costume.

One thing tat many viewers of the clip have noted, is that whoever is shooting the video doesn't seem to get too worked up about seeing the monster. He just simply whisper, "what's that."

This could be because he didn't get a good look at it through the camera, or that it happened so fast that he didn't have time to react..........or it's because he knew his buddy was behind the tree.

I can't say for sure.....I wasn't there.

If he would have screamed and peed himself....then we would know that we had a winner for sure.

What Does Youtube Have Against The "Creature From The Black Lagoon"?

Written By: Ken Hulsey

Or should I say, "what does Youtube have against ME posting the 'Creature from the Black Lagoon' trailer?"

This past weekend, I came into possession of a bunch of great old movie trailers, so I decided to add them to my channel on Youtube. Everything was going fine, I was able to upload the trailers for "Godzilla: King of the Monsters", "Gigantis The Fire Monster", "20 Million Miles To Earth" and "Attack of the 50ft Woman" with absolutely no problem.

Then I tried to upload the trailer, actually two, from "Creature from the Black Lagoon." After the video had been uploaded and processed, I went to watch it to see if everything had went okay. It was at that time that I noticed that the trailer wasn't qued on my main page.

I went into my list of videos and noticed that the clip had been tagged with a message stating that it was violation of copyright.

Okay, I get it. I'm not Universal, I didn't make "Creature from the Black Lagoon" and I didn't produce the films trailer. So, I figured that the studio was blocking people from uploading stuff from their films.

I did find this odd, because I had uploaded the trailers for "Dracula", "Frankenstein" and "Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man", each a Universal film, without any hassle.

Out of my own curiosity, I quickly did a search on Youtube for other "Creature" related clips.

Surprise! There were several.

So, what gives? Is Universal just blocking 'new' "Creature" clips because of the upcoming remake? Is Youtube out to destroy me?

Who knows? I just find it strange that the website allows certain content from certain individuals and not from others. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

I think that it is just 'The Man' trying to keep me down.

So, I uploaded the trailer to the site for everyone to enjoy. F-You Youtube!

I will, of course, still be adding more trailers to the site........if they let me.

New 'Cloverfield 2' Viral Or More Crapola?

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: Dread Central / Avery Guerra

A few weeks back I posted a small article about a video that has surfaced on Youtube that was loosely being associated with "Cloverfield 2", to this day I honestly feel that the clip was the work of a fan, but I wrote about it anyway.

Today, I have yet another Youtube find for you, that is again getting attention as a bit of possible "Cloverfield 2" viral video.

The video shows a young woman on the roof top of her apartment building explaining how excited she is to have moved from a small town to New York. The images in the video scramble from time to time, just like the footage used in "Cloverfield" to mimic a 'used' video tape, to show scenes of the city at night and some soldiers on a street corner. In a surprise ending, the video again becomes scrambled before showing the young woman either dead or knocked out in a scene that looks very much like the ending of J.J. Abrams giant monster movie.

I would honestly buy these videos as "Cloverfield 2" viral publicity work much more if they didn't copy the original film so much. If you may recall, the first clip actually contained monster footage that came straight from "Cloverfield" and this video copies that film's ending.

Does this rule out any possibility of this being another J.J. Abrams publicity stunt created to generate interest in another monster movie? No, but the facts at hand certainly do form a cloud over the whole business, and lead to doubts to that being the case.

I do want to point out a similarity in both videos. Each clip ends with some stamped Japanese text followed by some English 'catch phrases.' The first video had the words "RU THERE?" at the end, and this clip is labeled, "0041.avi".

Are these clues? or are they just random junk? Who knows?

The similarities may point to the clips being produced by the same person, or persons, and then again it could just mean that the second clip is just 'inspired' by the first.

Only two things are for certain, either there is some film maker out there who wants to get a lot of publicity for his amateur movie skills, or there is another huge viral publicity campaign that is about to be unleashed upon us by J.J. Abrams and his monster movie team.

A New Fan Made Video Posing As 'Cloverfield 2' Clip...Or Vice Versa?

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: Dread Central / Avery Guerra

Here's another story that's hard to figure out because there just isn't any info about it.

The good folks over at Dread Central have posted a video clip (See above) that they discovered over on Youtube, that they believe may be a new viral clip for "Cloverfield 2". Fact is however, they don't know what it is. It may be an early look at the "Cloverfield" sequel, or a fan made video. There just isn't any info about the clip to know for sure.

The clip shows what looks like an outside shopping center, with a Triceratops fountain, mixed in with what looks like family video of a baby. Just like in J.J. Abrams film, the serenity is interrupted by an attack by a giant monster.

It is the appearance of the monster that casts the most doubt to this being an Abrams produced clip, because it looks like came straight out of "Cloverfield".

One also has to consider that Abrams has often eluded to the sequel being a retelling of the monster's attack from a different perspective. The original monster attack on New York happened at night. This clip was made during the day.

Of course, if they were to go with a new monster attack on a different city, then the events in the clip would make sense.

What other clues do we have? Well, at the end of the clip we clearly see a street sign that says "Cloverfield." Can't get much from that.....though I doubt Abrams would put that in a clip. At the end we also see Japanese lettering and the English words 'RU THERE'. Can't get much outta that either. Abrams had Japanese connections to the original film in it's viral marketing.

So does his have anything to do with "Cloverfield 2"? ......um......I dunno.

Rare Video - Haruo Nakajima Puts On The Godzilla Suite One Last Time For Magazine Shoot

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Source: Jet Jagga / Youtube

I am always fascinated by the stuff that finds its way onto Youtube. Every time I log on, there is always some cool stuff that the site suggests for me to watch, based on my history of viewing videos. This normally includes an almost daily update by a young lady with big boobs who reviews movies. Amazingly she manages to keep on the most skimpiest outfits that just barely cover her chest. ......wait......what were we talking about? Oh, yes...Youtube videos. Anyway, some of the stuff is cool and some of it is junk.

Well today there was a real gem in my suggested video list.

Youtube subscriber JetJagga posted a wonderful clip of famed Japanese monster suite actor Haruo Nakajima doning a Godzilla costume for the last time for a magazine photo shoot. According to Jagga the shoot happened in 1983 for the magazine Uchusen.

In the clip Nakajima can be seen stomping about, posing with a plastic Godzilla figure and a copy of the magazine and removing the suite.

The quality is fairly good, although there is no sound. Overall it is a great piece of Japanese monster history, that without Youtube, many fans may have never seen.

A David Tennant Lookalike Warns About David Tennant Impostors

Written By: Ken Hulsey
Sources: io9.com / Avery Guerra

I know the title of this article sounds a bit confusing, but there really is a David Tennant lookalike who has a video warning about David Tennant impostors on the internet.

It seems that someone pretending to be David Tennant has been scamming people by using Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, message boards, and other social sites. This can be dangerous for unsuspecting fans of the Doctor Who star.

In some instances people have been contacted by the impostor and given instructions on where to meet him. Now people may be lured into this trap thinking that Tennant may want to privately meet some of his fans, but that simply isn't the case. This is a very dangerous situation, but so far as anyone knows no one has been harmed.

Let this be a warning to all of you. If you find a celebrity on one of these sites, it probably isn't them.

I have encountered a few of these on Facebook myself, granted none of them has tried to scam me yet.

I happen to know a few actors personally who do use Facebook, but that's just it, I know them.....you probably don't, so watch yourselves. If say Brad Pitt wants to be friends......that may be a big danger sign. If all of a sudden Scarlett Johansson says she wants to "hook up" with you, you aren't going to score, you are going to be robbed or killed.

Use common sense in these matters for your own safety!

Bryony Matthewman Talks About Her Internet Zombie Movie

Source: BBC

Twenty-five-year-old Bryony Matthewman lives in London, and for the last two years she has been making videos online.

Where did the idea for Bryony Makes A Zombie Movie come from?

I've been making videos on YouTube for over two years, with no prior film-making experience. During that time, I've done smalltime collaborations with other YouTubers from around the world, and it struck me that the many talents my e-friends have in writing, acting, filming and editing could be brought to a larger scale project than just a short YouTube video. I thought it would be a nice idea to try to create a feature film through the internet, and a zombie movie seemed like a good genre to try, as it's such a classic and is so open to interpretation.

Would you like to work in feature films as a career?

Possibly! I love the excitement and magic of making a film, but I do tend to get bored easily, so I think something like prop management, set design, or costume would be something I would rather do as a career. Possibly production – I imagine a normal job in the industry would be less fraught and stressful than this project has been! Wrangling with thousands of other people all around the world (in many different time zones!) can get a little exhausting!

If you were to make another multi-platform film, would you do anything differently?

Yes! I would know how to organise people ahead of time, for one, instead of people coming to me and then me trying to create a framework out of those people. I would allot the time for writing (which was a huge bottleneck for this project, as it was being written by a huge group of people who were all across the globe, with not many guidelines, so it caused a lot friction) – a specific time, and I would know the reality of making a film like this, so I could schedule it accordingly, whereas this time around I really had no idea whatsoever until it happened! That said, I am not unhappy with how it happened.

How did you find dealing with the different time zones over the course of making your film?

I've made a lot of oversea friends since I started making online videos, so I'm kind of used to it – America is behind the UK, and I tend to stay up until the early hours, so it fits in quite well. We usually use MSN or iChat or Skype to chat. Other than that, email was the main form of communication, and I set up a forum for people to talk to one another and discuss things, which was instrumental specifically in the writing process.

What were your biggest challenges along the way?

Dealing with a lot of people who are all donating their time and energy for free, and trying to keep everyone happy. The writing process was a very difficult time, as it held up the whole project, and communication sometime broke down. There are still people who won't speak to me because they feel slighted by something or other that I did or didn't do as manager of the project. I got through it by just realising that whatever happens on a project like this, some people are inevitably going to get upset.

What was the most fun part of making your film?

I think the shooting was the most fun. We only really had a single day of shooting so far, and it was very, very busy and quite stressful, but so exciting to see it actually coming to life after so much blood, sweat and tears!

Are you pleased with the finished product, as it stands at the moment?

Absolutely! I am so happy with it! At the screening, everyone laughed at the right moments and jumped in the right places, which made me so happy! The directors, Tim Keeling and Pete Curran, did such a great job and the edit looked fantastic.

How did the red carpet screening at the Renoir cinema on the night before Halloween go?

Awesome! Everyone was really positive about it, and everyone had good ideas for where the project could go from here.

What did you wear to the screening?

Hah! What a strange question! I wore a blue dress from Banana Republic. I had gone shopping for something new, but I couldn't find anything that seemed appropriate. I really wanted to find some fancy Miu Miu or Marc Jacob shoes as I had an excuse to buy some at last, but I couldn't even find anything that would have been quite right, so I ended up wearing an old pair of shoes! They looked nice enough!

What next for Bryony Matthewman?

I have a load of bits and pieces that I have been putting off until November, like the bunch of paintings that I've been meaning to paint and sell (I'm an illustrator and graphic designer), I'm about to move, which I've also been putting off and, of course, I want to finish the film! I want to work out a way it can get finished, building on what we've learned so far in terms of production and making things a lot more efficient and streamlined. I'm so excited about what we've achieved so far, that it would be such a shame not to see it through to its conclusion.

Bryony Makes A Zombie Movie tells the story of YouTube sensation Bryony Matthewman's attempts to pull together a user-generated zombie movie.

This exciting new cross-platform event from Hat Trick Productions, which has attracted over half-a-million hits from around the world, forms the basis of the half-hour documentary, which screens on BBC Three at 11.45pm on Sunday 16 November.

Bryony Matthewman, aka Paperlilies, is a YouTube superstar with over 15 million hits and a legion of dedicated fans.

But they don't just watch, they join in. She became the most viewed Londoner on YouTube in 2007.

Then she decided to make a film – but being an internet phenomenon, she decided to eschew the traditional method and do it entirely online.

This means that her film is a wholly collaborative effort, using only people she has met on the web. So actors, screenwriters, editors, cameramen, make-up artists all come from her international online community.

Her challenge? Not only did Bryony have to make the film a reality, she also had a deadline to meet, Halloween 2008, when she threw a premiere party at the Renoir Cinema in London's West End involving as many contributors as could make it, all dressed in their finest black tie clobber – with a few zombies thrown in for good measure.

With contributors from Australia, Canada, Brazil, Germany, USA, the UK and France, the clock to red carpet day was soon ticking...

Bryony put a video on YouTube in which she claimed to have been bitten by a stranger on the tube, and that this inspired her to make a zombie movie...(See Above)

More than 300,000 people viewed the video. Bryony also set up a forum, where people could discuss ideas and volunteer their services.

The project attracted a variety of weird and wonderful contributors from across the globe, including a girl from Germany who made a video about how excited she was to be featured...

Hat Trick and BBC Three have followed all aspects of Bryony's production with online documentary coverage consisting of two webisodes per week over a 17-week period on the BBC Three site bbc.co.uk/zombies.

Content includes coverage of shoot days, interviews with the luminaries of the undead world and make-up testing; Bryony also reports back on the weirdest, worst and most wicked suggestions, video responses and volunteers from all over the world.

With this wealth of documentary footage on what was a big summer event in realities both virtual and actual, at the end of this week BBC Three screens a 30-minute TV programme telling the full story of Bryony's journey from initial video post to red carpet premiere.

Will she make her film on time?

Danny Cohen, Controller, BBC Three, says: "Bryony is next-generation talent, discovered and developed on the internet.

"As a multi-platform network, BBC Three will continue to look for these kinds of opportunities – via the web and beyond."

Jimmy Mulville comments: "This collaboration with the amazing Bryony Matthewman is part of a commitment to making digital entertainment online an integral part of Hat Trick's future."

Bryony Makes A Zombie Movie is a Hat Trick production for BBC Three.

The Executive Producers for Hat Trick are Jonathan Davenport and Richard Wilson.

It is produced by Adam King and commissioned by Martin Trickey, Multiplatform Commissioning Executive, Comedy and Entertainment, BBC Vision.

Robo Japan Is Now On Youtube!

Many of you may have noticed that the video clips that were once listed here on Robo Japan have vanished. Well, when I decided to let my site, kensforce.com, go the way of the Dodo, I lost a place to house both photos and videos. Recently I discovered a file in my old Sitebuilder program that had archived all of the pics and vids that I had thought were gone for good. Needing a place to house all these gems, I turned to Youtube to host all this stuff. I spent many hours this past weekend uploading videos from my archives and I got about 25 up on the site. There are still a lot that I will be adding as time allows. I hope everyone enjoys these!

The first clip is the opening credits from the television series "Wonder Woman" starring Lynda Carter. The quality on this one isn't very good, but it was the first file in my archive, so I went with it.

To visit Robo Japan's Youtube Channel - ENTER HERE!

I also want to invite independent filmmakers and publicity contacts to submit trailers and clips for their projects for our new Youtube Channel. If you have a video that you want added please e-mail me at: kensforce@yahoo.com.
