"Growing up in Norway, I was raised on mythology and stories, and it sometimes feels like it has all led up to the work I’m doing now," said writer Torunn Grønbekk. Grønbekk is joined on the series by fan-favorite illustrator Walter Geovani. His contributions to the franchise go back to 2007, nearly to the beginning of Dynamite's publishing of Sonja. Through collaborations and stories like Gail Simone's lauded run, The Price of Blood, the Prophecy event, and crossovers with other legendary figures like Tarzan, Geovani has staked his claim as a definitive modern artist for the character. This combination of Grønbekk and Geovani, alongside colorist Omi Remalante Jr. and letterer Simon Bowland, will be the perfect creative team both for readers who have never checked out Red Sonja and for those who've been fans for decades!
The kickoff of the series finds Red Sonja on the run, framed for a heinous crime she did not commit and with an unseen force tugging at the back of her mind. Fans can expect mirth, violent delights, and hair-raising action. Yet even as Sonja deals with the terrors of war and mysterious magic, true danger will be threatening from the most unexpected sources. Greg Hildebrandt Creates an Homage to the Iconic "Star Wars" Painting With Red Sonja
“I was honored to work with Nicky and the Dynamite team on this Kickstarter campaign," said artist Greg Hildebrandt. "When they told me it was Red Sonja and explained what they wanted, I really got into the project. It’s fun for me to paint a badass woman with a sword. Then seeing the final product and what they are doing with the various covers made it a complete package for the fans. My fans and Red Sonja’s fans! Hope you enjoy the art.”
Often working alongside his twin brother Tim as the "Brothers Hildebrandt," Greg has always had close ties to comics. After building a strong reputation with works like their cherished Lord of the Rings calendar artwork, their painting appeared on the cover or inside such early boundary-pushing comics magazines as Heavy Metal and Epic Illustrated. In the 1990s the pair, jointly and separately, rose to the top of the industry with their in-demand cover art. An entire generation of fans connected with their work through the popular 1994 Marvel Masterpieces trading cards.
Almost every single person familiar with popular culture can recognize one major piece from the Hildebrandts. Commissioned to paint a new theatrical poster for the original Star Wars film's 1977 UK release, the twins finished it up in a tight 36-hour window. The image played a crucial role in one of the defining fandoms of the 20th century and beyond, and today the She-Devil with a Sword finds herself in those same footprints.
To complete this classic 1977 extravaganza, the cover will be gracing a reprint of the original Red Sonja #1 from that same year. Definitive artist of the era Frank Thorne beautifully illustrates "The Blood of the Unicorn.," written by Roy Thomas, Clair Noto and Ed Summer. This touching story shows both the ferocity and compassion of Dynamite's sword-swinging queen. To fully capture that 70s feel, a special retro cover variant will only be available in the first 48 hours of the campaign.
The limited-edition comic variant is available in multiple variations on the Kickstarter campaign. In addition to the retro version, fans can get a standard edition of the comic with modern trade dress, as a "virgin" version without any logos, or a black and white line art edition. All options are available signed by Hildebrandt or preserved and graded by CGC Comics. Combo packs for all covers, all signed covers, or all graded covers come with a bonus fourth cover only available this way! Hildebrandt will also be adding one-of-a-kind sketch remarks to a limited number of covers, a truly one of a kind opportunity. First Look At Mars Attacks Red Sonja

Fans have seen them attack fin-headed cops, iconic rock bands, and fellow denizens of the red planet, but now Dynamite presents Mars Attacks Red Sonja!
"This is a book I actively pushed Dynamite to do, and I bugged them and bugged them until they finally approved it because I wouldn’t go away," said John Layman. Layman returns to both franchises here following a celebrated run elsewhere on the Martian meanies and the fondly remembered early Dynamite crossover Red Sonja/Claw. He brings those connections (be on the lookout for Easter eggs!) and over 25 years of experience writing, editing, and more in comics. From his earliest days editing some of the innovative bestsellers at Wildstorm to his smash hit, multiple Eisner-winning creator-owned Chew.
The explosive first issue features a crop of covers by the coolest creators. A man very well-versed in depicting the She-Devil With a Sword is Lucio Parrillo, who highlights the menace of the Martians. Fan-favorite Dustin Nguyen (Batman, Descender) uses plenty of red and his signature style, and we're not just referring to Sonja's hair. Arthur Suydam evokes the classic era of science fiction that birthed the Mars Attacks franchise originally. Coming a long way from having fan art featured in an issue of Red Sonja (Vol 4 #7), is Luca Strati showing off a victorious Sonja. Dynamite and Joseph Michael Linsner Announce Upcoming Dawn 30th Anniversary Celebration!
Dynamite announces a strengthened licensing deal with creator Joseph Michael Linsner to help celebrate his iconic indie creation Dawn's 30th anniversary!
This bolsters the already strong relationship that Dynamite and Linsner have shared for years. Including the existing Dawn statue, which Linsner's dedicated fans showed out in droves to support. Additionally available this fall in time for the holidays are collections of Linsner's Dynamite published series, collectible promo trading cards and a premium quality giclée print.
Linsner continues to be one of Dynamite's most treasured and fan-favorite cover artists, with ongoing contributions to the Red Sonja flagship series as well as other recent covers for Elvira: Mistress of the Dark and Bettie Page. 2014 saw the release of the smash-hit crossover series Dawn/Vampirella, written and drawn by Linsner. The paperback edition of that collection will hit store shelves this November. Together with his writing partner and Vampirella super fan, Kristina Deak-Linsner, he created the critically acclaimed Vampirella: Roses for the Dead limited series which brought the Daughter of Drakulon's cousin Evily the witch back to prominence. Two variations on the hit Dawn statue are out soon! A special black and white artist proof edition of the Dawn statue is slated for release in October. While an artist proof edition of the costume variant statue is out in November. Only around 50 units are being produced of these rare collector's items.

The volume, titled Scorched Earth, reprints issues 1 through 6 of the currently ongoing series and the Lord of Fools one-shot special. This tale of metal and blood chronicles the She-Devil of the Hyrkanian Steppes through becoming queen of her homeland, political and physical bouts with Dragan the Magnificent of Zamora, the introduction of her nephew Kryon, past and present tangles with supernatural forces and much more!
At nearly 180 meaty pages of storytelling, Scorched Earth is a great value at only $19.99. The creative, editorial and marketing teams all agreed that of course the first entire arc needs to be kept together. Dynamite announces a fright-filled pair of Halloween themed special one-shots starring Red Sonja and Bettie Page!
In Savage Tales: A Red Sonja Halloween Special, writer Mark Russell brings in artist Jacob Edgar (James Bond: Moneypenny) to tell an extra-length spooky story. Dearbhla Kelly and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou also jump over from the regular series for this essential tale for fans of the She-Devil with a Sword. All underneath a striking cover from Erica D'Urso (Xena, Captain Marvel), drawing inspiration from the original Savage Tales #1.
This one-shot perfectly complements issue 9 of the ongoing series, out the same month. While that issue has Sonja returning to the Sorcerers of Wigur-Nomadene, Savage Tales flashes back to their first encounter. At this point, Sonja is not yet a legend, but a brute full of anger and ambition. Savage. Everyone's favorite fiery heroine tries to convince the sorcerers to bring her family and friends back to life.
"I saved the darkest chapter of the Red Sonja story for this Halloween Special," said writer Mark Russell. "The main series refers to an earlier visit by Sonja to the Sorcerers of Wigur-Nomadene and this tells the story of that visit and the price she paid to try to bring her dead family back to life. Jacob’s style lends itself really well to this story of dark magic and loss and I think it will make a great entry into the canon as well as a self-contained story."

In the Bettie Page Halloween Special, a mysterious force is hunting students at an exclusive Upstate New York college. Just the case for Bettie to investigate, and she'll be enrolling in Werewolf 101. The supermodel/superspy's chronicler David Avallone (Elvira, Drawing Blood) contributes this full length story with artist Roy Allan Martinez (Zorro: Swords of Hell). Bettie is used to men being beasts, so this issue turns that metaphor up to 11. In a bonus short story, writer Erica Schultz (Xena, Daredevil) and artist Fernando Ruiz (Archie, Die Kitty Die!) spin a yarn of aliens, classic cars and a sci-fi double feature at the drive-in theater.
The issue features a cover by fan-favorite Bettie artist John Royle (Elvira, GI Joe) and another from Reilly Brown (Deadpool, Lobo). Last year's Halloween Special was a bucket of fun and kicked off the whole next era of Bettie's adventures, so fans shouldn't dare miss this one!
"Throughout the Bettie series, I've tried my best to have some fun with classic mid-century pop cultural tropes and pitting her against a Wolfman is a natural extension of that," said writer David Avallone. "Roy Allan Martinez's style is reminiscent of some of my favorite 1970s horror artists (and his fellow countrymen) Alfredo Alcala and Nestor Redondo, but with a modern twist... so he was perfect for this story. And his rendering of Bettie Page is gorgeous and perfect. I can't wait for people to see it."

This series marks Jordie Bellaire further flexing her skills as a writer, following widespread acclaim for her smash hit Buffy The Vampire Slayer relaunch and her Eisner-nominated creator-owned series Redlands. Joining Bellaire and Moss are Rebecca Nalty (Xena Warrior Princess, GLOW) on colors and Becca Carey (Planet of the Apes) on letters. The first issue will feature a range of talented cover artists. Terry and Rachel Dodson (Wonder Woman, Mr. and Mrs. X) lead the pack. Julian Totino Tedesco (Daredevil, Captain Marvel) contributes a fun cover. Babs Tarr (Batgirl, Motor Crush) joins the crew. Jordie herself will color fan-favorite artist Leonardo Romero's (Captain America, Shuri) piece. While interior artist Drew Moss will be doing "Then and Now" covers, depicting his modern style superimposed alongside classic art of the characters such as by Frank Frazetta. Watch out for covers from other huge names on future issues, as creators jump at the opportunity to draw these two characters side by side.
Artist Drew Moss adds, "It has been a joy working with such a talented group of people, from the writing, colors, letters and editorial, they are the best. When I was first offered this book I was intimidated by the characters but when I was told we were just going to tell the best story we could, I knew I had to be a part of it. Every time a script, colors, covers or pages come in, the excitement builds inside me. I just hope people will be as excited as I am."
