5 out of 5 stars

The parcel arrived in very sturdy packaging. There was no damage what so ever to the comic. In addition, when contacting them they responded promptly and were very helpful about my issue of not having a working tracking code (which turned out to be a usps thing I didn't know about)

Vampirella #25 Arrives This October With Wedding Bells!

From Dynamite Entertainment

Yes, you read that right. Not a fake out, not a dream - Vampirella's 50th anniversary series is coming up on a massive celebration and marriage in this fall's issue #25 by Christopher Priest and Ergun Gunduz!

Can the Daughter of Drakulon cheat fate? A mysterious, innocent young man is beset with a deadly prophecy. He may just be the resurrection of the one and only deadly Dracula. But with a chance of breaking the curse with the power of love, Vampirella forges a bond in blood to save his life and destiny. Check the registry, clean your tuxedo, and save the date - October 20th!

“Like most everything we’ve done in VAMPIRELLA, expect the unexpected," said writer Christopher Priest, "Which, of course, makes it really hard to promote without giving away the surprises. It’s a tired trope to say this is a Dracula story unlike any you’ve read before - but it really is. And, unlike some other big announcements, our gal won’t be left at the altar!”

In "Seduction of the Innocent," Vampirella survived a tragic plane crash engineered by an alliance of her greatest foes - including her own mother! Readers met a diverse cast of new characters including Victory, Benny the Witch, Doc Chary, Katie the vampire groupie, the Six Marys, and more. Next, in "Interstellar," the vampiric heroine returned to her home planet of Drakulon, faced with the moral quandary of saving the mother who just manipulated her, and retracing her own origin.

Then in issues #23 and 24, the runup to the "Red Mass," Vampirella is stalked by Shane The First Man, a murderously unhinged Apollo astronaut from an alternate Earth. Vampirella quickly learns that Shane’s descendant, a child she’d once shielded from religious zealots, has grown to manhood and is a carrier of the Dracula Virus: the genetic essence capable of reincarnating the deadliest evil the world has ever known. While seeming nothing at all like the dark lord, FBI Agent Matt Ecsed is, nonetheless, under an ageless curse, destined to become the immortal Dracula - unless Vampirella makes the ultimate sacrifice. Everything has lead to this!

And that's not all! This explosive issue marks the conclusion of the 50th anniversary celebration. But could it possibly be the end of Priest's tales of Vampirella? It wouldn't be fair to just drop the microphone after a wedding, so fans can stay tuned for the exciting next paths for the character to be announced soon... It's the ending of the critically acclaimed era, but the start of something even bigger!

To really celebrate this epic event and culmination of Priest's two year tenure, a bounty of breathtaking variant covers is needed, in the grand Dynamite tradition. Celebrated international artist Ergun Gunduz turns in a can't-miss peek at the bridal gown. Returning favorites like Lucio Parrillo, Shannon Maer, Marco Mastrazzo, InHyuk Lee, and Maria Laura Sanapo contribute covers. They're joined by some of today's most in demand talents including Rose Besch, Zoe Lacchei, KyuYong Eom, and Emanuela Lupacchino. Many of the artists also have fun showing off their own alternate depictions of Dracula, as editor Matt Idelson challenged his artists to "Think outside the coffin!" - and they've delivered in spades!

Bill Willingham Introduces Vampirella's Newest Foe in Special!

In a can't-miss standalone tale coming this September, just in time for Halloween, Vampirella meets the newest member of her spine-tingling rogues' gallery!

Multiple Eisner Award-winning writer Bill Willingham (Fables, Robin) writes the Daughter of Drakulon for the first time ever in Trial of the Soul. Willingham is joined by artist Giuseppe Cafaro (Catwoman, Suicide Squad), colorist Andrew Dalhouse, and letterer Carlos Mangual. The blood-filled cherry on top is the haunting cover by Bart Sears (Justice League, Blade).

This extra-length special tale asks the question, "Does Vampirella have a soul?" New character Prester John has made it his mission to determine this and enact judgment on her. If she passes the test, she will be spared. If not, he must destroy her. No matter how charming he finds her...

"I always found Vampirella so intriguing and I've always had a crush on vampires so this one-shot for me will be definitely a great chance to test my skills with this classic character," said artist Giuseppe Cafaro. "Plus, with Bill at the script, I'm sure that this will be an amazing journey! I always loved what he did with Fables and the Sandman Universe! Can't wait to show fans what we are doing!"

Based on the legend of the medieval Christian leader of a lost wealthy African kingdom, the Prester John of the Vampirella universe represents a force that our heroine has occasionally found herself contending with. Based on a design by Willingham, John is portrayed as a handsome young man, though he's lived well over 1,000 years. When not hiding among man, he dons an ornate armor made in the forges of Heaven. It pairs with his sword, which is actually on loan from Saint Michael the Archangel, who will reclaim it for the battle of the end times. Alongside his armaments and nigh-immortality, Prester John possesses great strength and can tap into a Godspeed allowing him to practically teleport.

Beyond the titular question of her soul, is Vampirella friend or foe to the forces of Heaven? Is Prester John a "villain" or something much more complicated, just as fans' favorite vampiri? And if either survives their encounter, when could they meet again?

VAMPIRELLA: TRIAL OF THE SOUL is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ July 2020 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in September 2020. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies of the issue with their local comic book retailers. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more!

Artgerm Returns to Vampirella & the Front of Previews!

From Dynamite Entertainment

Dynamite is proud to announce that a third breathtaking depiction of Vampirella by chart-topper and fan-favorite Artgerm will grace not only VAMPIRELLA #6, but also the front cover of Diamond Comics Distributors' October for December 2019 Previews catalog!

This is the perfect way to wrap up the year, as Dynamite has been celebrating Vampirella's 50th anniversary since July when the smash-hit new series by Christopher Priest and Ergün Gündüz premiered during San Diego Comic Con. Vampi superfans have nothing to worry about either, as the celebration will continue well into 2020! Dynamite can also update that upon final review, the print run on the first issue actually came out to slightly over 150 thousand copies with sales inside and outside of the comics market!!

This issue marks Stanley "Artgerm" Lau's third cover for the series, contributing to every even issue to date. For this piece, he used more traditional techniques than usual with a charcoal layer. Dynamite wanted to highlight this eye-catching cover even more and chose to enhance it with an acetate layer. Typically these covers consist of the logo on the overlay above virgin cover art. Artgerm opted to design the design himself, with a dripping blood effect. Most exciting, Dynamite is keeping the price for this main acetate Artgerm cover at the standard $3.99 so every Vampirella fan can continue their run without worry and new readers can jump right in!

On that note, everyone is welcome to check out the series with this issue! After all, a wise man once said 'every comic book is someone's first,' and Dynamite's creators and editorial team work hard to make every issue as approachable as the first. Priest is in for the long haul, with his run currently planned out past issue #14, with countless exciting ideas in the pipeline. Of course, there's always the back issues too and the Free Comic Book Day issue available digitally at no cost!

“It’s my pleasure to provide another Vampirella cover for Dynamite, whom I’m extremely delighted to work with," said artist Stanley "Artgerm" Lau. "This time I’ve decided to approach the cover with charcoal - a medium that I don’t use often for commercial projects, except those I truly love. Thanks to the fans for the overwhelming response on my previous Vampirella covers and it is my privilege to have this image on the front of the Previews catalog for the comic industry.”

Check out these process images tracking how Artgerm's unparalleled vision moved from pencils, to charcoal, to digital paint, to the cover of Previews! Premium editions of the cover will be available for those fans who want to cherish this work of art in a specific and limited manner.

Priest continues to be humble about the success, sharing, "(Laughs) I’m happy to be part of the formula for the successful launch. Whatever magic contributed to Vampi’s 50th launch, most especially with our offbeat and quirky Kelvin Universe take on the character, is most certainly a team effort."

"Despite the faith we had in Priest and Ergün, any time you plan out and execute a long overarching story—particularly in today’s market—there’s the worry you won’t get to see it through," said series editor Matt Idelson. "Now that we’re nearing the midway point of this first epic, I’m feeling great about how the book is being received. And even though this is far from the first comics work by either of these guys, I feel like they—and the book—are getting better by the issue, which is really gratifying."

VAMPIRELLA #6 will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ October 2019 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in December 2019. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies of the issue with their local comic book retailers. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more!

Billy Tucci is an award winning writer, artist and publisher. Following a quick sought-after first appearance in Everette Hartsoe's Razor Annual 1, Tucci's creation Shi launched straight into the stratosphere of independent comics in 1994. At a time when some major publishers were struggling and creator-owned properties were soaring, Tucci was among those who led the pack. Through his publisher Crusade Fine Arts, Shi has been printed in five languages and sold over 3 million comic books. Top Cow's Witchblade and David Mack's Kabuki initially appeared in Shi comics before breaking out as successful franchises as well. Shi has crossed over with Daredevil, Wolverine and Lady Death.

Perhaps most importantly, Tucci and Shi both have long histories with everyone's favorite vampire heroine. In 1997 Warren Ellis wrote two companion one-shots teaming up the two characters. This was followed by the three part arc "Queen's Gambit" in Vampirella's flagship series of the time, written by industry superstars Grant Morrison and Mark Millar and drawn by Amanda Conner. Tucci has additionally done covers for the prestige Vampirella miniseries Death and Destruction, Vampirella and The Scarlet Legion and the recent Roses for the Dead by fellow indie legend Joseph Michael Linsner.

After establishing himself as a talented and versatile artists and building his passionate fanbase, Tucci has worked on major characters through the years as well. Tucci has worked for major publishers on titles such as Heroes for Hire, Harley Quinn, Birds of Prey and others. A Batman tale garnered Tucci an Eisner Award nomination for Best Short Story. His series Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion received widespread acclaim and recognition from the military community. His earnest retelling of the Christmas story, “A Child Is Born” has quietly turned into a international blockbuster after winning the Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year Award. Currently he is hard at work on graphic novels Zombie-Sama!, Appalachian Apocalypse and prepping a huge return for Shi as well as reprints.

Don't miss your chance to get these beautiful exclusive covers! Available for a limited time and in limited quantities on Indiegogo!

Dynamite announces a new Vengeance of Vampirella ongoing series

The original Vengeance of Vampirella series made a huge splash in 1994 with a jaw-dropping wraparound cover by Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti, depicting Vampi bathing in blood represented by swaths of red foil. Vampirella lead the pack in the "bad girl" craze and consistently placed in Wizard Magazine's coveted top 10 lists for characters and hot titles.

Vampirella: The Queen of Vampires

Vampirella was originally presented as an inhabitant of the planet Drakulon, a world where a vampiric race lived on blood and where blood flowed in rivers. Drakulon orbits twin suns that were causing droughts across the planet, marking certain doom for Vampirella and her race. The race of which Vampirella was born, the Vampiri, were able to transform themselves into bats at will, possessed superhuman physical attributes, sprout wings when required to fly, and drink blood.

Shi: East Wind Rain #1 November Crusade Comics Grade NM - $3.99

Shi is a fictional comic book character created by writer/illustrator William Tucci. She first appeared in Razor Annual #1 (1993), and has since appeared in books by a variety of publishers, most notably, Tucci's company, Crusade Comics. Shi is a young woman of mixed Japanese and American ancestry drafted into a modern-day "shadow war" between descendents of the infamous sohei warrior monks of medieval Japan. As the story is deeply rooted in Japanese history and mythology, "Shi" literally translates to death (死) in Japanese, and her signature weapon is the naginata.

From her very genesis, Vampirella has been portrayed by unique and talented artists. The original Vampirella #1 from 50 years ago featured the truly iconic Frank Frazetta cover, with Vampi's costume designed beforehand by cartoonist Trina Robbins. Inside the magazine, Tom Sutton's clean line depicted everyone's favorite heroine in a flirty short story debut. Through the Warren years, many other artists made their mark on the character such as San Julian, Enric Torres, Gonzalo Mayo and others, but none more prominently than Jose "Pepe" Gonzalez. Across countless stories, pinups and covers Gonzalez defined Vampirella for an entire generation.

During the Harris era, many artists added their names to the Vampirella roll call. The list is endless: Mike Mayhew, Joe Quesada, Adam Hughes, Jimmy Palmiotti, Joe Jusko, Michael Kaluta, Dave Stevens, Ed McGuinness, Buzz and countless more! While Mark Texeira established himself as the definitive Pantha artist through most of her solo stories in the era. One superstar artist whose career was redefined and skyrocketed on Vampirella is Amanda Conner, whose cartoonish and flirty style is beloved to this day.

Dynamite has brought even more great artists into the fold, including Lucio Parrillo, Terry Dodson, Jenny Frison, Joseph Michael Linsner, Fabiano Neves and more. For her big anniversary year, Vampirella will be appearing in comics drawn by such unique artists as Ergün Gündüz, Drew Moss, Maria Sanapo and others.
