There are so many bands out there trying to revive the iconic New Wave sounds of the 1980s and give them a fresh spin for today’s listeners. One group that’s made quite an entrance recently is the German trio MTTM, who just burst onto the scene last year. Many of these bands love to say, “If you’re a fan of Depeche Mode, The Cure, and New Order, then you’ll love us.” And in MTTM's case, that statement definitely holds true!Their music beautifully captures the essence of what those legendary bands were creating during the heyday of New Wave. For instance, their latest track, "The Flow," exudes that signature Depeche Mode or New Order vibe. And then there’s another standout track I want to highlight tonight, "Meet Me At The End," which really gives off a strong Tears For Fears feel. I can easily picture myself listening to this back in the day when my wardrobe was filled with shades of black, white, and grey. I can’t help but wonder how many people would notice if I tossed this onto a mixtape alongside "The Hurting"!
Here is their bio:
MTTM is a vibrant band on a mission to bring New Wave music back into the spotlight. Hailing from Berlin, this trio infuses '80s sounds with a modern twist, taking inspiration from iconic artists like Depeche Mode, The Cure, and David Bowie. Their music beautifully marries poetic lyrics with energetic drums and synths, creating a captivating blend that resonates across generations.Formerly known by a different name, MTTM garnered attention for their electrifying live performances and a unique approach to electronic music, which allowed them to carve out a niche for themselves at major festivals like Planeta Atlântida in Brazil, their home country. Throughout their journey, they've had the pleasure of sharing the stage with esteemed acts such as Booka Shade, Anthony Rother, Edu K, Digitaria, and Karol Conká.As MTTM, they recently released their debut music video, "The Flow," which has been selected for various film festivals, marking an exciting milestone. Their first album, released by Retro Reverb Records, showcases a fresh direction, incorporating live drums that enhance the energy of their synths, guitars, and vocals. It's an exhilarating new chapter for the band, and they can't wait for you to hear it!
