The annual festival that celebrates b-movies is gonna be really awesome this year in Franklin, Indiana September 24th. - 26th. !! Lots of cool guests, and tons of great b-movies from classics to new films. I actually had the honor of being amongst this year's many great nominees at their annual prestige "Golden Cobb Awards" which was an extremely flattering honor indeed. As far as this year's great events goes- the opening gala film for the fest will also be the world premiere of Jim Wynorski's "Monster Cruise"!! Other cool new films being screened will be "Jim's "Dinocroc vs. Supergator", "Slime City Massacre", "Dead Snow", Asylum's "Mega-Piranha", "7 Adventures Of Sinbad", "Airline Disaster" and classics such as the original "Piranha", "Rocketship XM", "Valley Of Gwangi", "Empire Of The Ants", "Creature From The Black Lagoon", "The Blob", "The Evil Dead", and lots, lots more all on the big screen!!!!:

B-MOVIE CELEBRATION IN FRANKLIN: GROUND ZERO FOR B-CULTURE

The Camelot couple of B-culture is extremely proud to host THE 2008 B-MOVIE CELEBRATION. Earlier this year, The Queen organized an art show to help the hometown of the event with a flood relief benefit called THE AMAZING COLOSSAL ART SHOW and the remaining items will be sold at auction as part of the opening festivities. The people of Franklin are eager to receive their THE QUEEN OF TRASH--Banners bearing her image attacking the ARTCRAFT theater as THE 50FT. WOMAN flutter all over town!

On September 26th, 27th and 28th THE B-MOVIE CELEBRATION has a whopping 50 films programmed all over Franklin, Indiana including DEATH RACE 2000, HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD, THIS ISLAND EARTH, TARANTULA, CARNIVAL OF SOULS, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, NIGHT OF THE COMET, BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, THE GIANT BEHEMOTH, QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE, WORLD WITHOUT END, RUSS MEYER'S UP, FROM HELL IT CAME, NOT OF THIS EARTH, THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS, THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD, EARTH VS. However, THE QUEEN OF TRASH and MR. LOBO will mainly be at the beautiful and historic ARTCRAFT Theatre, introducing practically all of the films presented there, interviewing special guests, giving out prizes, encouraging audience participation, and greeting B-Movie fans from all over the country and abroad.

Last year, Mr. Lobo and The Queen had a fantastic time stirring things up with directors and B-Movie greats like LLOYD KAUFMAN, TOM SAVINI, CONRAD BROOKS, and JIM WYNORSKI and this year they’re back with some famous friends. There are too many special guests and events to list them all. There will be a retrospective of The Films of JIM WYNORSKI like Miss Mitten’s favorite CHOPPING MALL. A special screening of CYXORK 7 with writer/director JOHN HUFF in person! They will be presenting the best film ever involving a horror host character, FRIGHT NIGHT with the director TOM HOLLAND live and in person and MR. LOBO will be bringing the ultimate horror host documentary WATCH HORROR FILMS KEEP AMERICA STRONG to Bob Wilkins home state for a rare screening.

The event will also be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the most successful indy short film HARDWARE WARS by presenting a special award to ERNIE FOSSELIUS saluting his career. The show will have about 20 workshops and seminars, including a screenwriters boot camp with RON ABERDEEN and a Horror Host panel with Q and A. THE B-MOVIE CELEBRATION is also the home for the fiercely free and independent SUMMER TROMADANCE film festival presenting new talent with a TROMA taint. Though the miracle of modern holistic geography, we also will have THE WORLD’S LARGEST BEACH PARTY in the parking lot across the street from the ARTCRAFT where my California pals WILL THE THRILL and MONICA TIKI GODDESS will be presenting “ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS” and rock to the beat of the schlock rock combo THE MOON RAYS! On Sunday Indy Film Co-Op honcho Bill Dever premieres HIS home grown Sci-Fi film BLOOD MOON and more, more, more!

RockNRolla: Shoot Fast And Get Out Clean

One of the standout features of Guy Ritchie's films is the style in which they are shot. Partly because of the large ensemble cast and partly to keep the production as efficient as possible, "RocknRolla" had a rapid six-week filming schedule. Using HD cameras throughout made it that much easier and efficient.

"Guy works fast," comments Steve Clark-Hall. "Guy likes to create energy on the set and keep that energy going. That he managed to do that without creating tension during such a fast shoot is a testament to his great skill as a director."

Mark Strong, who previously collaborated with Ritchie on "Revolver," was well aware of the director's working methods. "He creates an environment that is fun and inventive, and he makes you want to get it right," he says. "We did a scene in the middle of Cambridge Circus, a busy intersection in Soho, and the cameramen were hidden in a little workman's tent on the other side of the street. We just played the scene with the public walking up and down the road. It was chaos. But that kind of filmmaking is great fun to do because it keeps you sharp; you get in, you shoot the scene, you get out. You haven't too long to think about it, and that is often the best way."

One of actor Gerard Butler's most memorable scenes was an epic chase through neighborhood backyards, train tracks and warehouses in which One Two and Mumbles are being pursued by two Russian thugs. "It's an incredibly long and tense action sequence, but it's also very funny because the guys chasing us cannot be stopped," Butler says with a laugh. "We shoot them, we hit them, we club them, we crash our cars into them, and they just keep coming. The scene really speaks to Guy's incredible aesthetic and energy. It's one of the most unique chase scenes I've ever seen, or certainly that I've been a part of."

Silver concludes, "Guy has made a movie that defies the boundaries of a straight-up action comedy or crime caper. It's a lot of fun but there's a fable in the midst of all the action. One of the characters compares life in this world to a cigarette box, which has a regal sophisticated appearance on one side, but on the other it tells you in no uncertain terms that it will kill you. In always looking for a shortcut to the good life, these characters are living on the knife's edge of life and death. That's 'RocknRolla.'"

Mr Lobo To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award At The B Movie Celebration

Haven't you just been waiting for an excuse to go to Franklin, Indiana and watch some truly awesome movies? Of course you have. Actually, it turns out there's a great reason to go to this college town south of Indianapolis in August. It's the Second Annual B-movie celebration, with films so bad they belong in the so-bad-they're good category, like The Terror of Tiny Town and Plan Nine from Outer Space.

When, Who and What

September 26thth thru 28th, The Indy Film Co-op will be hosting The B Movie Celebration. During the Celebration they will screen Fifty B Classics, have a tribute to Roger Corman Protege Jim Wynorski, featuring a retrospective of the films of this prolific B Director. Stuart Grodon, Director of Re-Animator will be receing a Lifetime Achievement Award The Indy Film Co-op, the hosts of the festival, will also screen ten soon to be classic B films from current B filmmakers.

Lots Going On

There will be over 20 educational seminars a. The Celebration will start with a bang with a B Movie Gala to be held at The Johnson County Museum of History.In attendance will be B movie legends like Will The Thrill Viharo, Special Effects Wizard Tom Savini, Cult Director Jim Wynorski, and Host of Cinema Insomnia Mr. Lobo. The Always Lovely Queen of Trash, Atuart Gordon will receive a lifetime achievement award. Also appearing will be original Plan Nine from Outer Space cast member Conrad Brooks. The Master of Ceremonies for the entire event will be Brownsburg’s own Steve “Papaw” Pyatte.This years Celebration will also feature a live concer/beach party with the world's greatest horror/surf band The Moon-RaysB movie Fans…Indiana wants you!

Stuart Gordon

About Stuart Gordon -He joined with Charles Band and his Empire Pictures to make the company's first big hit, Re-Animator (1985), a modern-day version of the H.P. Lovecraft story with Jeffrey Combs in the lead role. Gordon stayed with Empire and helmed another Lovecraft film, From Beyond (1986), and tackled the murderous Dolls (1987) the same year. He directed Robot Jox (1990), but it was a disappointment and Empire Pictures folded after the release of that film. Gordon found work writing the script and creating the story for Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989), a major hit of 1991. He then returned with Band and his new company Full Moon Pictures for the remake and more graphic version of The Pit and the Pendulum (1991) (V) the same year. Other works of his include Fortress (1993), a major hit of 1994, and the screenplay for The Dentist (1996).In 2001, Gordon returned to the H.P Lovecraft territory with Dagon (2001), and in 2003 directed King of the Ants (2003/I), a comic thriller about a painter-turned-hit man, and the David Mamet Edmond (2005).

Jim Wynorski

About Jim Wynorski - A 25 year veteran in the Hollywood exploitation field, writer/producer/Director JIM WYNORSKI is responsible for over 150 varied motion pictures in a myriad of Genres. Wynorski trained at the feet of renowned B movie mogul Roger Corman Throughout the 1980s came a steady stream of Classic B titles like BIG BAD MAMA 2 with Angie Dickenson, NOT OF THIS EARTH with Traci Lords and RETURN OF SWAMP THING with Heather Locklear. On into the '90s, Wynorski continued to climb to the top of the B-Film mountain with flicks like HARD BOUNTY starring Kelly LeBrock, BODY CHEMISTRY 3 & 4 with Shannon Tweed and Morgan Fairchild and MUNCHIE. Jim Wynorski has kept fresh by innovating new special effects techniques that landed the director no less than seven world premieres on the Sci-Fi Channel. His credits there include films like GARGOYLES, CURSE OF THE KOMODO, PROJECT VIPER and CRY OF THE WINGED SERPENT.
