Jim Wynorski Reveals His Ultra Cute Ogopogo From MONSTER CRUISE

I think everybody by now is very familier with the often-times offbeat work of film maker Jim Wynorski who has brought us such classics as the "Cloverfield" parody, "Cleavagefield." Which, as you probably guessed, is a film about big-breasted women, sometimes dressed and sometimes not, being chased around by some giant monster.

You either really like that kinda stuff, or you don't. I can only assume that if your reading MIN, you REALLY dig that kinda stuff.

But, enough about that.

For Wynorski's follow-up he has apparently changed gears, somewhat, opting to make a movie about hot women, near a lake, being chased around by a monster that is so cute it puts baby Godzilla to shame.

The monster in question, the famed cousin of Scotland's Nessie, the Ogopogo, the lake monster that reportedly inhabits lake Okanagan Lake, in British Columbia.

Damn that's one cute monster isn't it?!

The film, which actually wasn't filmed in Canada at all, but Lake Monroe, Indiana, stars Kayla Gill, Erin Neufer, Paul Wallace, Shay Dickerhoff, Gerard Pauwels, Stacey Dixon, Ervin Ross, Jim O’Rear, Hal Fryar (of Three Stooges fame), Jim Hardin, Vicky Richmond, Bill Cothron, Tammy Logsdon, Jason Smither, David DeSpain, Dennis Crosswhite and Rick Shedd.

Speaking of Indiana, as luck would have it, the film is set to premiere at this year's "B Movie Celebration" in Franklin, Indiana, on September 24-26.

The annual festival that celebrates b-movies is gonna be really awesome this year in Franklin, Indiana September 24th. - 26th. !! Lots of cool guests, and tons of great b-movies from classics to new films. I actually had the honor of being amongst this year's many great nominees at their annual prestige "Golden Cobb Awards" which was an extremely flattering honor indeed. As far as this year's great events goes- the opening gala film for the fest will also be the world premiere of Jim Wynorski's "Monster Cruise"!! The First Trailer For Jim Wynorski's 'Dinocroc vs. Supergator'

My God, it must be trailer season, because the new clips are coming out of the woodwork at breakneck speed. It seems as if every post that I have made for the past week has had the words 'trailer' or 'clip' in the title.

Well, as you may have guessed, I have yet another new monster movie trailer for you. This time around it is from Jim Wynorski's human buffet, also known as, 'Dinocroc vs. Supergator'.

Prepare yourself for a minute and a half of giant reptiles making meals out of senior citizens, laboratory techs, blond hikers, tourists in loud Hawaiian shirts, army guys, hot blond scientists and hot girls with tiny bikini's.

Yes, it's "Jurassic Park" all over again, except this time, with the late David Carradine.

Though the clip is filled with all kinds of fun-loving super sized gator carnage, it is also bittersweet, due to the untimely passing of Carradine.

Oh, and when I say "Jurassic Park", I mean it. Wynorski borrowed just a few obvious ideas for scenes in this one from Spielberg.

If ya love big lizards, and who doesn't, munching down as much human sashimi as they can get their claws on. Then rejoice! "Dinocroc vs Supergator" will definitely deliver the goods.

Jim Wynorski Wants Everyone To Take A 'Monster Cruise'

Some time ago, a popular adult men's magazine would sponsor a yearly event called, "The Boobs Cruise", which as you may have guessed, was a tropical boat trip filled with big breasted women.

Now when you read the title of this article, and saw the name, Jim Wynorski, your eyes may have played tricks on you and you may have read, "Monster Boobs Cruise."

That was just your eyes playing tricks, this really is a monster movie.

Granted, since this is a Jim Wynorski monster movie, you can't swing a moose without hitting some eye-candy, so don't worry.

For the monster, Wynorski has chosen one of cryptozoology's lesser known stars, the Ogopogo, which, as many of you probably know, is Nessie's misguided Canadian cousin.

Likes hockey instead of soccer.....oh, um...football.

As of late, the film maker has been on a real monster kick. His last two films, "Cleavagefield" and "Dinocroc vs. Supergator", both featured giant monsters run amok. Though, "Cleavagefield" was more about big boobs than the monster.

Reportedly Wynorski has just wrapped production on "Monster Cruise", which couldn't have come any sooner for his cast and crew, who where trying to keep from freezing to death on the frozen tundra near Franklin Indiana.

The photos you see here are actually from location shots near Lake Monroe, Indiana, taken last September.

Speaking of cast, "Monster Cruise" stars Kayla Gill, Erin Neufer, Paul Wallace, Shay Dickerhoff, Gerard Pauwels, Stacey Dixon, Ervin Ross, Jim O’Rear, Hal Fryar, Jim Hardin, Vicky Richmond, Bill Cothron, Tammy Logsdon, Jason Smither, David DeSpain, Dennis Crosswhite and Rick Shedd.

You may recognize the name, Hal Fryar, if you are a big Three Stooges fan. Fryar appeared in the movie "The Outlaws Is Coming" (1965) and also had starring parts in "The Three Stooges Show" during the 1960s.

In true Wynorski form, the film maker is keeping the plot to this one under wraps until after it premiers, but he did describe it this way, “....a fun filled romp that tells the story of a boy, a boat and a sea monster”.

If you think that you have seen this monster before, well you kinda have. You see, Wynorski modeled it after his favorite movie monster, the Behemoth, from the 1959 film, "The Giant Behemoth."

A Special Effects Video Bonanza - Galactic Raiders - Dinocroc vs Supergator

Everyone knows that the backbone of any fantasy or science fiction film is it's special effects. Now, George Lucas can go on and on about how any movie effect is boring without a good story to set it up, but as we know from his "Star Wars" prequel series, good effects can make up for a week story, or even fill in where there is no story at all.

When it comes to movie effects, and in particular monster movie effects, there are three ways to go. The very time consuming art of of stop-motion animation, the sometimes effective and some times not, art of putting a man in a monster suite, like the Japanese "Godzilla" and "Gamera" films use, or the quicker and cheaper computer generated type of effects that are permeating the movie industry.

Well I have good examples of two of those types of effects for you here today.

First, I want to show you a great video by film maker Larry Arpin on how he is doing the effects for his independent film "Galactic Raiders". For the film, Arpin is doing it the old-fashioned way, using stop-motion monsters.

As I said before, this process is very time-consuming. That is probably why "Galactic Raiders" has been in production for over a year and a half.

I do give Larry a lot of props for following in the footsteps of Ray Harryhausen in producing these effects. I honestly wish more people would go back to this.

Now we move to the complete opposite end of the effects spectrum with a clip from Jim Wynorski's "Dinocroc vs. Supergator". As you can probably guess, this film features modern computer generated effects.

Many people are fans of what technology has done to improve the quality of movie effects, and no one can argue that the medium has put the tools for creating impressive effects into the hands of film makers who can now make the kinds of films that were impossible to produce just a decade ago.

Which is better? Well that depends on who you talk to. I personally believe that each has their place in modern film making. Sometimes combinations of all the above methods work out best. The Japanese, for example, have used stop-motion, suite actors and CGI effects in their recent monster movies, with mixed results. Hollywood, on the other hand, likes to throw as much computer generated effects at you as they can.

In the end, I think that film makers will always be discovering new and inventive ways to produce film effects using whatever is available to them, and who can say what the future will hold. Whether you do it 'old-school' like Arpin, or with the power of the computer, like Wynorski, movie effects continue to spark the imagination and inspire future film makers to produce their own fascinating films.

Jim Wynorski Releases Images Of The Late David Carradine From 'Dinocroc vs. Supergator'

The most noteworthy thing about director Jim Wynorski's rather blase looking monster on monster flick, "Dinocroc vs. Supergator", is the appearance of the late actor, David Carradine, who filmed scenes for the film before he died under mysterious circumstances in Thailand this past June.

Today Wynorski released the first images of Carradine in "Dinocroc", plus some more effects shots of the monsters and other various cast photos.

It is kinda bittersweet to see Carradine, who is famous for such roles as Kwai Chang Caine in the 70s television series "Kung-Fu" and as Bill in the "Kill Bill" films, in a direct to SyFy channel movie such as this, but sometimes an actors last film isn't always their best. Case in point, Gene Kelly in "Xanadu" and Bela Lugosi in "Plan 9 From Outer Space."

At first I thought "Dinocroc vs Supergator" was going to be devoid of sexy women, a Wynorski trademark, but then the director supplied us with images of the lovely actresses Amy Rasimas, Carrie Stevens and Della Sheppard who will be starring in the film alongside Carradine and the two steroid filled gators. Looks like Wynorski hasn't lost his eye for the ladies.

Look for "Dinocroc vs Supergator" to air on the Sy Fy Channel in the near future.

Dinocroc vs. Supergator - Let's Get Ready To Rumble!

It's good to see that 'versus' movies are coming back into style again. Throughout the history of monster films there have been epic battles between titanic foes such as "Godzilla vs Megalon", "Earth vs. the Flying Saucers", "Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus" and "Joe Versus the Volcano.".....um.....okay.

Today we have yet another titanic battle of the super-beasts in Jim Wynorski's, "Dinocroc vs. Supergator." As you can obviously guess, the film is about a prehistoric crocodile that somehow ends up in the same place as a gigantic mutant alligator, and they both fight.

If you recall, Wynorski's last film was the adult parody of "Cloverfield", entitled "Cleavagefield." We learned from that one that the directer has a thing for big monsters and big boobs. Now, I don't know how many chesty maidens are going to be in this one, but there are two huge critters for certain.

The most notable thing about this one, is the appearance of the late David Carradine, who died sometime immediately after completing his scenes in the film.

I know what your thinking, "crocodiles?, alligators? why they are the same thing ain't they?"

Why no, they ain't....ur...aren't. What, did you forget your "Captain Kangaroo"? Let's refer to Wikipeadia for some clarity:

While alligators are often confused with crocodiles, they belong to two quite separate taxonomic families.

The most obvious external differences are visible in the head—alligators have wider and shorter heads, and a more U-shaped than V-shaped snout. The alligator's upper jaw is wider than its lower jaw, and the teeth in the lower jaw fit into small depressions in the upper jaw. The upper and lower jaws of the crocodiles and caimans are the same width, and teeth in the lower jaw fall along the edge or outside the upper jaw when the mouth is closed. When the crocodile's mouth is closed, the large fourth tooth in the lower jaw fits into a constriction in the upper jaw. For hard-to-distinguish specimens, the protruding tooth is the most reliable feature to define a species.
